The Auntie's Grove at Moonstone

Moonstone is a perennial polyculture (no annual crops, lots of diversity) on the bluffland of the Upper Minnesota River Valley.  A family-based farm specializing in grass-fed organic beef production, we also maintain a vineyard, an edible forest, farmstore, farmstay guest cottage and a full-shade camping area, the Auntie's Grove within walking distance of our pond, little beach, water points and restrooms.

Spending some time out on the lake in one of the two canoes is highly recommended!

One full size bed with floor space for cot or bedrolls.  

The bulls spend the day walking around their pasture eating and playing in the dirt. 

The vineyard is a beautiful setting for photos as the sun hangs low in the sky. 

Plenty of water on site, though not plumbed except for exit water.  Recycling and composting are part of the system.

Hendricks

The area around the home of hosts Audrey and Richard is speckled with various small buildings.

Host Audrey's art can be seen hanging next to the entrance.

You don't want to miss a trip into the camp store if it's open during your visit to Moonstone.

Wilson Ranch

Learn more about this land:A great way to hit the reset button. Come rest on our rustic, quiet little acreage where you've got room to roam or just be still. If you need any resource however, it is close at-hand. 

We are a rural South Dakota property. We live conveniently just a half mile off of I29 at the Flandreau exit but down a quiet dirt road. We love to travel ourselves but routinely have company staying on our property in their horse trailers, campers and tents. One recent visit from family out of CA in their camper had us considering joining the list of hosts for Hip Camp, as that is how they had been traveling throughout the pandemic and felt we'd be a good addition to the mix. So here we are! 

There are no amenities currently in the spot we feel works best but we'd love to see how this fits with our property and lifestyle and give it a try. 

A little more about us and where you would be staying, we are a combined family with four teenage kids coming and going. My husband is a farrier (shoes horses) and a former professional team roper, so we've got an acreage with horses. Keeping them company are a donkey, two goats, a few dogs and a varying number of cats roaming the property at any given time. While our horses are often in a separate pasture during the winter months, there is a lot of activity in the arena during the spring, summer and fall. Local kids and adults can often be seen training, roping, goat tying, or running barrels. We have never offered riding for visitors but may look into it for special weekend events as we embark on this new adventure.

A little about the community we call home - it is an historic, diverse and cool little town worth exploring. We've got a lot of new development in the works with our tribal community and city, many great local places to eat and grab a drink, communities nearby like Brookings, Sioux Falls, and Pipestone where you can bike, hike, boat and fish, and enjoy being as alone as you want or together with the locals. We also work with a local tribal educator who is available to book time with if you'd like to learn more about the Native history in our area and a few words in the Dakota language. 

Thank you for considering a stop in our little corner of the world. We hope wherever you're heading in 2021, it's beautiful, safe and a trip to remember.

Skooter’s Place

Learn more about this land:It’s basic camping with shaded trees. Has a small pond. Nearby lakes. Pheasant hunting during the season.  Bikers are welcomed. You pets are welcomed. Skooter’s Place is serene and safe surrounded by farm land. Located off the beaten path, with “Town” just about two miles away with most things you’ll need. Located near Highway 14, in the southwest corner of Minnesota, South Dakota is a straight drive west to Sturgis, the Badlands, and beyond.

Miller's Acreage

We live on 5 acres, surrounded by farmland. 1 mile from nearest highway.
3 acres of pasture on the east end. Camping area is on the west end, with many trees for shade on the west and south corner.  4 miles from Brookings that has shopping, antique mall, active night life bars, children's museum and more. 3 miles from Volga, small town living. 5 miles from interstate I-29.
