Great quiet relaxing location, with wildlife and the sound of the country. You will have the only camp site on the property. You can stay in the small camping cabin in comfort with your own bedding, or bring a sleeping bag. We have the twin bed in the loft, or use the futon on the main level. The cabin only has room for two adults unless you bring a camp pad to sleep on the floor, or squeeze in a child, but you have the comforts of an A/C , a Weber grill, mini fridge, microwave, and Electricity. Quiet former country farm site, with great wildlife viewing options with walking trails. Only 23 miles to DT St. Cloud and 7 Miles to the Walmart in Princeton for food or supplies. If a shower is desired the Kwik Trip in St Cloud, on Hwy 10 has showers. Just a half mile off Hwy 95 and 5 miles from the large Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, with trails and lots of wildlife. In the Fall expect to see a large amount of wildlife with many migrating birds come out of the refuge to feed. Expect to hear Pheasant's cackle in the AM, and see Sandhill Cranes and Geese fly over the camp site, or sitting in area fields. Enjoy time around a campfire with folding chairs and a picknick table, with plenty of free dry firewood in a storage rack.

This is a 10-acre part of a larger 110-acre property. This section is reserved for tents, camping vans, and small trailers 20' or less. The river is great for small children to wade and swim in during the summer. During spring, the water is up higher for kayaks and canoes.
We have built new out houses for our guests.

Two campsites or our chalet which sleeps five are available. Campsites are near a fabulous 10 acre deep spring fed lake. One campsite is in the prairie with a expansive view where 5 or 6 tents are possible. 2nd campsite is for one tent and is lakeside. Quiet peaceful trails through the woods. Animals at the home base (outside only). The chalet (in the pictures) , has all the needed amenities; shower, fridge, etc. No food or oil or gas or soap in the lake. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, always on a leash or tether, and never indoors. We do have life jackets available, but no sizes appropriate for small children (bring your own). This sweet little cabin is full of rustic charm and is the result of my husband, myself, and our three kids seeing what we could build using tamarack trees from our land.
The cabin is nestled on 180 acres of beautiful rolling hills and is home to a variety of wildlife, including beavers, sandhill cranes, swans, loons, coyotes, deer, and wild turkeys.
During the summer months, cows also graze in the adjoining pasture.

Fantastic retreat away from technology. Though we didn't catch any fish, we had loads of fun bird watching, even saw a family of Barred Owls and a belted kingfisher. We would totally reserve the space again. Great site and hosts.

I would rate this place a 4.8/5
Nice place. Clean and with necessary appliances in good working condition. Grill for barbecue. WiFi was enough to support Airplay. Bunkbed top bunk is a bit rickety, but bottom bunk was fine. Good shower. TV is sometimes hard to hear due to small internal speakers, but lots to do other than TV nearby.
River access is shallow but deeper water is very close. Fishing was pretty good too but be prepared for snags (heavy braided line, top water baits, swim baits, recommended). There is an absolute monster pike nearby that is a joy to water breech the water as it chases prey. Very pretty scene overall.

The A-frame was so cute, right on the water, and offered beautiful views. The host, Carl, was incredibly gracious and went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. We loved the delicious pizza and the fantastic conversation. Highly recommend this spot!

My wife and I enjoyed The Little Cabin. The area was quiet. We enjoyed walking through the trails Troy has mowed on the property. The wren family living in the birdhouse next door was fun to watch as they went about their day. My wife especially loved the grand old basswood tree we found on the property.

It’s like a “ctrl+alt+delete” for life at the Little Cabin! Thank you to Troy for all the hard work put into making this a restful, peaceful affordable stay in the countryside only 1hour from Mpls.
It was just me and my elder pup Baxter. We weren’t alone tho, shout out to the Mama and Papa house wrens who kept us company the entire visit. They were carefully guarding their little house next to our cabin, which is probably its own little Hipcamp when their babies graduate the nest.
It didn’t take long for me to set up my camp and then turn on my Merlin Bird ID and I was able to see my very first indigo bunting with my monoculars.
AT&T good cell coverage.
West-facing porch, in the sun: beautiful. Also made use of the shade of trees on the north corner by wood pile to read for awhile. Troy has a number of chairs so you can leave yours at home. Too windy for a fire and too cloudy for stars this night. We’ll have to come back!
Cozy, quiet & warm inside cabin overnight even with temps in upper 40s. Saw deer a few times!
Outhouse was basic but fine, and fridge is a champ! So nice having electricity. No spiders, mosquitos or ticks- maybe bc of low temps and wind. Sleeping on futon was “okay” but I was too tired to care. Baxter slept in his little bed. He loved walking the country road- lots to sniff!
Fun trails to walk & explore. I made up a story as to why the mail box is so high in the sky: preparing for space mail? Or maybe high snow deliveries?

Easy to find, secluded but only 10 minutes to Pine City. Fabulous communication. This cabin is well stocked and adorable. The screened porch and outdoor hammock made quiet relaxation a breeze! I love birds and was able to hear, see and identify several species new to me! Matt caught small mouth bass and northern while the grandkids practiced kayaking skills. Easy access to a 1 1/2 hr kayak float down to the cabin at a nice public access. The river was gentle enough to allow paddling back upstream as well. Highly recommend a stay at either of this property's cabins.

Cabin was beautiful and peaceful. My daughter loved playing in the river. Not much needed at this beautiful get away. This was our fur baby's 1st trip and were so glad we found a place we could take him with us! We will definitely be returning visitors.

The A frame was so fun to be in! I loved the concept of opening up the side and having the dogs relax and be able to go in and out when they wanted! The river right next to the site was peaceful, so many birds for bird watching and not too many mosquitoes when we went (although ticks loved our dogs). The owners let us try some of their wine and got to meet the other campers which was super fun and had a lot of laughs! Go meet Carl and his family, they are so wonderful. It’s right next to Rum River State Forest and not too far from Lake Mille Lacs. Great stay! Would come back :)

Awesome cabin! Our stay was a little unseasonably chilly so we spent a lot of our time inside in front of the fireplace. A modern cabin with all the amenities was exactly what we needed. Easy access to fire pit and grill and very close to the river, which was nice. I wish there were more direct walking paths from the cabin to hike with our pups but we made due walking down the main road. Great place to stay, thank you for having us!!

1 night at The Camps at the Vineyards
A BEAUTIFUL spot! Very peaceful spot on a slow moving river! On a Sunday in early spring there was lots of gunshots. I think there might be a nearby shooting range. Also had dogs barking all night that made me leave in the middle of the night. I’m assuming the dogs are not a usual issue but if the sounds of gunshots off in the distance bothers you this place might not be for you. Overall I loved the place and I’ll be coming back again. If the dog thing happens the second time I probably won’t return.
