Weekend Trip to Backwoods River Camp WFBranch StJoe

If I could give this 10 stars, I would. Peaceful serenity at its finest. I'm a seasoned, rustic camper & decided on a spontaneous, last minute weekend away & came across Way Way Back & their Bell Tent. Knowing it was going to be a beautiful day Saturday, but rain Saturday night & Sunday, I didn't want to waste the weekend. But not having to take down a wet tent & pack wet gear, that sounded wonderful. Wonderful is exactly what it was. I got there later than expected Friday night & it was pitch dark. Jeremy was in contact with me during my drive down & told me to message him when I was close so he could lead me to the tent. Unfortunately I didn't have cell signal as soon as I was about 1.5 mile away, but I stopped at the house & he led the way. Was I ever happy that he did, daylight wouldn't have been difficult. I was delighted to discover that I was the 1st guest of the Bell Tent & was it ever cozy. I lit a fire, got situated, then slept luke a baby. When I woke the next morning to a breathtaking view of the fields & woodsnext to me, I was very excited. My dogs lived it too, 15 yr old Maggie decided to wander into the woods to discover a nlce little river, he favorite. To my surprise she was sharing a drink with beautiful doe only 5 ft from her. Only wish ai had my camera to catch that special moment. Zowie and I walked up about 10 ft away & just watched for a few moments before she wandered off. I can't wait to go back!!

This fun property is just under 7 acres - butted up to another 12 acres of public land (and boat launch) with trails, boardwalk and a dock on 51 acre Lake Eleven. The property is shared by (2) full-hook up RV sites and a cabin. If available, the cabin and sites may be rented together however the owners, Jim and Maria, use the cabin much of the summer leaving just the RV sites available. The property is at mile market 13 of the Kal-Haven Trail - the midpoint. The Kal-Haven Trail is a biking, cross-country skiing, walking, running, snowmobiling - you name it, the trail that goes 34 miles from Kalamazoo to South Haven. Literally steps from the property and you are on the trail. But you may not need to leave the property, with 6.3 acres of woods and field, with trail cut through PLUS the added public lands butted up to Tincan's property line, giving almost 20 acres to roam. Each RV site - far enough apart to be separate, close enough if you and friends/family want to camp together, has a fire pit and fireplace. Each RV site offers water, 30|50AMP electrical and septic. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. The main floor of the home is occupied by the owner. Accommodations are available on the second floor of the house, in the cottage, and on the grounds. The upstairs second floor of the home has its own access and is separate from the rest of the house. Three private bedrooms share bathrooms and a porch/living room with a fabulous view. Completely renovated in 2023. This included adding a shared kitchenette, remodeling each bedroom, the bathroom and adding a powder room. Across the deck is the cottage. The newly remodeled suite features a king bed, cotton sheets, a convenient kitchenette, ADA friendly bathroom, private patio and deck. Set up your tent or RV under a lovely shady tree or near the limitless expanse of a waving corn field. Enjoy your morning coffee while relaxing on the large deck to the sound of running water meandering to the Koi pond. Grill steaks on one of the BBQ grills. Toast marshmallows at the little table fire pit on the the deck or down at the campfire circle. Take a stroll around the property and enjoy the gardens.
