1 night at Old River RV Park

Troy was very kind and accommodating. We just stayed over night, but it was quick and painless. 😉 It’s also right on the bayou and there’s a little swing to enjoy your morning coffee 🥰 Something to note for: there’s a ton of stray cats across the street. They pretty much keep to themselves. But, just incase that’s a deal breaker for someone.

If you like the outdoors and love nature, this is great for families with young children who are curious. There are farm animals, white peacocks, blueberry fields, and wild flowers everywhere. RV site is on gravel ground. Place has showers and toilets designed for the outdoors. We loved Cheri’s place.

I loved everything about camping here! It was such a unique experience and the hosts were super welcoming and friendly. There are sheep, chickens, bees, puppies, and a beautiful berry farm to wander through. I’m sad we only got to stay here a night while passing through. Will be back to see Cheri and Conway Twitty!

Weekend Trip to Big Branch Apiary

We ended up here when FSP was fully booked, and we were very pleasantly surprised! Our son loved walking around to see the farm animals, the camp toilets were clean and close to the rv hookups, and the shower area was large, clean, and easy to use. Friendly farm dogs hung out by our setup and entertained the kiddo. We even got to see hatching and recently hatched baby ducks! Quieter and more peaceful than rv sites at the park but still super close to everything. We’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Old River RV Park

It was right on the water, and very peaceful. Just a get away for myself and my wife, no kids. So it was perfect. They have a pool table and washers and dryers and a shower. We had a boat and went out on the river and wanted to stop at Renos on the river, but left our wallets back at camp. It closed by the time we got back up there, but you can access it straight from the river with boat tie offs. So very cool and unique for us to see.

Cheri was an AMAZING host!! Her farm is so cool and grand. My husband and I were so relaxed that we actually overslept until a little after 10:00 am!…lol. It’s so beautiful, peaceful, and you really feel like you have the place to yourself. The toilet and shower facilities were clean, beautiful, and smelled fresh. On top of that, her farm is a hop, skip, and jump from Fontainebleau State Park. Do not hesitate to book a spot here if there’s one available!!

Cheri went above and beyond to welcome us rather late. I was messaging with her and I missed a very important message related to her property location and therefore we missed her entrance and were just sick about it because another neighbor had to help us out. PLEASE DONT USE APPLE MAPS when entering her address. It takes you to the wrong place! We felt awful. Once we got settled we had the best nights sleep resting in our Basecamp Airstream connected to power. It's a very peaceful place to rest and Cheri is a lovely host.

Cheri was super friendly and quick to respond to my same day request! Her husband showed me around the property when I got there, and the tent site was a nice, private area with a picnic table and fire ring - also great for car camping (which we did). My cat and I loved staying here! Thanks for the hospitality!

We loved this hip camp. The farm is a lovely and peaceful place with clearly so much heart and creativity. Everything about our sign up and check in was smooth and easy. Cheri was kind, easygoing, and easy to communicate with, and even generously adjusted our reservation when we accidentally reserved for the wrong day. Having a campfire and camping on the edge of the blueberry field was such a nice way to end the day. The showers and bathrooms are super clean and well taken care of. The farm is very convenient to get to from the highway. We only stayed for one night on our way through town but would be so happy to stay here again if we were passing through. Wish we had had more time to walk around and explore the farm and area.

Cheri was a very warm host. She directed me to my "Tree House" spot , on the edge of a blueberry field ( I think that was the crop ). Got my fire pit going , enjoyed some food under the innumerable stars above , and then climbed into my shelter and spent the night in a very comfortable hammock. Thank God I had a warm duvet to wrap myself in , as it was in the 40's. Loved the sounds of wildlife thru the night , and the sound of a rooster in the morning. Bought a dozen eggs to bring home , and to remember all the sweet animals that live there on the farm. I hope to return again someday .

Absolutely loved our stay in during the big snow! The tent with the wood burning stove was so cozy and warm! We used the outdoor fire pit as well. So enjoyed walking around the grounds and getting to see all the animals!! Our host Cheri was wonderful! We will definitely be back!

Big Branch Apiary

We are a honeybee and blueberry farm on 50 acres north of Lake Pontchartrain. We're bounded by the Big Branch Wildlife Reserve to the south and a Rails to Trails bike path on the north. We are 3 miles from Lacombe to the east, Mandeville to the west, about 3 miles from Fountainbleu State Park, and an hour from New Orleans. Most of the farm is a mixed hardwood forest with designated wetlands. Desert Bayou and East Branch Bayou meander across the property. The farm has deer, foxes, bobcats, owls, fireflies, otters, raccoons, turtles, and, well, about anything common to the wilds of the Gulf South. This includes a litany of snakes, mosquitoes, and deer flies in their season. About 8 acres are used to raise poultry, bees and organically farmed blueberries. Overall, the land feels primordial and pristine. We are a designated Monarch Waystation and in the spring and fall see many migrating butterflies. We cultivate a lot of flowers so almost year round you can see butterflies in profusion. We are part of the USDAs Conservation Stewardship Program, concentrating on protecting and increasing habitat for animals and pollinators. Pets are welcome but the chickens often run free and chasing them, or the deer, ducks, sheep, etc., is not acceptable so keeping your pup on a leash when near the farm animals is encouraged. Campfires are allowed except on rare occasions, and fires help keep the mosquitoes at bay. You can hunt for deadfalls in the woods on the farm, or we can provide firewood for a small fee. This is a rustic situation: think dry camping, outdoor (heated) shower, and outhouses. We have hookups for one small RV or camper close to the barn. In addition, we have a 10x10' treehouse, and several places to pitch a tent. The farm is pretty secure--someone is on-site most of the time, it's gated, and there are security cameras at access points. But it is a farm in a rural community--you may hear roosters crow, sheep bleat, dogs bark, and the mule bray along with the sounds of owls, hawks, coyotes, and other native wildlife. If this sounds like it suits you then come on!, stay and enjoy the farm life.

We also are open to hosting BBQs/Seafood Boils, Live music, for small gatherings at additional charge. Good pets welcome. No aggressive animals allowed. Check in is 8am to 7pm.
