Sonny Hills is a great getaway, close to all attractions without the traffic. The cabin was very clean, the grounds were quiet, all the amenities you need. Cozy and comfortable. I would recommend this site to any one and would definitely use it again if in the area. Friendly hosts greeted us with their beautiful dogs.

My husband and I loved Sunny Hills! Jennifer and John were welcoming and accommodating. Their guide book was helpful, we even went ziplining because of the recommendations. The lodge was quaint and included everything you'd need for an extended weekend stay. We will definitely be returning.

Great spot. Hammock camped on the point of the lake . Great sunrise through the pines. Host was friendly and great to talk with. Check out Cache River while you are in the area

Beautiful lake with wide open camp sites. There was a wedding present the weekend we camped- I don't blame them. It's a perfect venue! The space was big enough that we didn't feel like we were intruding, and the wedding didn't bother us either.
The bathrooms were clean and spacious, with showers available too.

I stayed in the cabin and I will absolutely return! Clean, cozy, and perfect for a weekend away. Jennifer was quick to respond and created a welcoming home for my visit. Close location to so many trails and activities. Perfect for one, a couple, or a family! 10/10 and 5 stars!

Weekend Trip to Sonny Hills
Jennifer’s cabin is a perfect getaway. It has every amenity you could want! We got some surprise snow during our stay so the fireplace was perfect for our stay along with some games and movies.
I can’t wait to come back in the spring and fall to get some use out of the hot tub, grill, and fire pit.

2 nights at Sonny Hills
We had an incredible stay at Sonny Hills-Cabin near Shawnee Forest! The cabin itself was very cozy, very comfortable, and very well equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The location couldn’t have been better, surrounded by gorgeous nature with hiking and sightseeing opportunities on site and even more in the park just a short drive away.
The hosts went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and had everything we needed. Their kindness and attention to detail truly made this trip extra special.
Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer and we’re already looking forward to returning as soon as we can. Highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat near Shawnee Forest! 🌲✨

Weekend Trip to Sonny Hills
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway at Jennifer's cabin. The lovely water with a tree-covered hill to the east was beautiful each day. It was great to have wood provided for the fire pit, the kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and so were the couches. It was a great place to get away from our busy lives for a weekend. We visited Garden of the Gods and Dixon Spring this time but we hope to come back to explore their wooded property. And the see the doggies :) I appreciated getting myself away from the internet, although we did have good enough cell signal to be able to access the web when needed. I enjoy tent camping but did not have the energy or time for it right now and this was the perfect middle ground between tent camping and being home. I plan to recommend this cabin to my friends too and hope that we can even visit it together the next chance we can get away.

Weekend Trip to Sonny Hills
We loved this place. It had everything you could possibly need. We appreciated the fenced-in yard for our dogs, peaceful surroundings, kitchen with everything we needed for cooking, and the hot tub. Games, movies, you name it. We’ll be back!

Overall it was a nice site, very clean, and the sites themselves were pretty flat. Was able to settle in under the pines. Came for a late season peddle and paddle trip. Nov 8-9 so my experience could easily differ from the warmer seasons. Had the campsite pretty much to myself. There were small fire rings for campfires. No porta potty on site that I saw (again,late on the year), but was told the bathroom in the barn was available, which although a bit of a drive from the camp, but did have plumbing, so that's a good give and take. It was heavily overcast and rainy during my stay but it seems like there's be some good stargazing here as well over the lake
If I'm ever back in that area I'd be sure to book again
