I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage. My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how. For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture. In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt. Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store. We call it JakoPure food.Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too. That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm. Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance. You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep. If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November). Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife. (Fair warning: if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.) We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture. There are killer sunrises and sunsets here. If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby.Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Come and spend some time at a direct-to-consumer dairy farm. Our cows are called Dutch Belted. They are often referred to as Oreo cows. Stay on the farm where the milk is produced, processed, and sold. The farm store is a short distance away and sells a large variety of farm foods.
The farm consists of about 200 acres of pasture and creek bottom. The owner, Loyd, has lived on the farm all his life.
We are right beside what used to be a Navy base... yeah in Kansas.:) The runway still gets used for gliders. So you might see a glider being pulled up while you are here.

The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by.
The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees.
Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people.
There is also a composting toilet on site.
Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffee perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower!
We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store, bar and grill and liquor store. Also, located just 15 miles from Little Swedon, Lindsborg, KS. Great shopping and museums, art galleries for you enjoyment!

I could spend very good time with beautiful sunset, the flocks of ducks flying together, and the groups of goats and sheep were also wonderful. And clam night.
The owner is very kind and with many hospitalities.
We can do a campfire in the firepit or we can bring a portable firepit. The parking location has some flexibilities, so I could park my car as a wind shield.
I guess that family camping is also recommended, if you like animals and if you are beginners.

Beverly’s hipcamp was the perfect place to stop on our roadtrip out west. The dogs had so much fun exploring the space and Beverly was so incredibly kind and welcoming. It unexpectedly rained most of the night and we were able to set up a cozy spot to relax and unwind after a long day of driving inside the Whitehouse. We loved the spot so much we will be staying on our return trip back home!!!

We had such a wonderful time at Beverly's! It's a very peaceful spot, and Beverly made sure we had everything we could POSSIBLY want. She even brought us a table and chairs to use. We really couldn't have asked for a better host, and her animals were just as wonderful too. Still, one of the MOST outstanding things about our stay was getting to know Beverly herself. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stay there.

Beverly's place was a perfect spot for us. We felt secluded back behind the white shed. The location is entirely fenced in. I recommend taking a walk or bike ride on the trail adjacent to the property. Beverly is an involved host and will make sure you have everything you need. We would stay again.

Cheryl gave us the option to switch to site 2 because our hook-ups are on the Driver's side. We had trouble getting level in site 1 due to the recent rains that made the ground very soft, so in the end we stayed in Site 2. Site 1 has a beautiful pasture view and nearby playground, and Site 2 has a fun view of the beautiful horses. You can't go wrong with either site. There are also dogs, roosters, turkeys, and goats nearby. The cacophony of farm sounds didn't bother us, but warrant mentioning in case potential guests reading this review are sensitive to noise. There is also an Air Force base nearby, but I barely noticed it. The resident dogs are free-roaming, but they are friendly. My dog isn't generally a fan of other dogs, and the resident doggies were not a problem for us. Site 2 has full hook-ups, and we didn't need any leveling blocks at all. We enjoyed our stay very much and appreciated the flexibility to switch sites at the last minute. Even with the significant rain, the ground drained well around the site and the driveways. We had no trouble walking our dog or pulling the trailer in and out. We love the Hipcamp experience a thousand times more than RV parks. We are so grateful that owners like Cheryl host RVers.
