We established this homestead in 1981. The original 10 acres grew to 15 after acquiring our neighbors smaller lots. With one of those properties we used the well and septic and built camp sites to entertain our friends and family. We have opened this up to some outside travelers to attract interest in our local community. Travel trailers, Fifth wheels, Toy haulers, Class A RVs, Class B RVs, and Class C RVs allowed. We have our own 4 acre wildflower meadow that attracts many butterflies and birds during the summer months. It's just a peaceful, quiet place to visit. Cell phone service is not great here but not totally absent if you stand in the right place. Wi-Fi is available. Seven Pillars: Located 0.8 miles from Camp Ames This breathtaking formation along the Mississinewa River was created over the centuries as wind and water eroded the limestone, carving rounded buttresses and alcoves into the north bluff of the river. Seven Pillars Nature Preserve - Acres Land Trust - Located 0.3 miles from Camp Ames! This preserve on the south side of the Mississinewa River is named after the landmark 25-foot limestone pillars, also owned by ACRES, which are located on the north side of the river. Our group of 10 college students had a wonderful time at Wayde and Beth's! They were both so kind, generous, and thoughtful. We enjoyed eggs, tomatoes, peppers, and honey all from their farm! We had planned on cooking calzones over a campfire that night, but there was a countywide burn ban in effect, so they let us use their bbq grill and the calzones came out perfectly! We launched our canoes in the Mississinewa River right in front of their property and they allowed us to park our car for self-transport at their place. They could not have been easier to work with and had excellent communication. We were also very pleasantly surprised that they had a toilet for us to use, which the whole group was very happy about! We highly recommend!

This place is wonderful! The host and his family are friendly, attentive and work very very hard! Even the little girl was running around making sure everyone was takin care of! Great place! I felt safe and welcome. It’s very clean. Even the porta pot is clean! Highly recommended for anyone wanting a getaway! It’s well worth it! I can’t say enough about it. I’ve been to a lot of campgrounds and airbnbs and this one is one of the best

Camp Ames is a gem of a micro campground near Circus City Peru, IN ... Complete with full hook-ups and a self-serve camp shack-store ... The sites are level, stone-paved and can be pull-through at the Host's discretion ... Wayde & Beth are gems as well so helpful and thoughtful! ... Seasoned travelers themselves, they've made an oasis on their property just off the beaten path in the heart of central Indiana ... Google Maps directions were spot on ... (Starlink) Wi-Fi is offered and is actually pretty good at the camping sites ... Hiking, Biking and River Floating are all across the road and we explored all three in our one good day of weather ... Check out Wayde & Beth's outline of other nearby activities like the Circus Hall of Fame-Museum ... Looking forward to returning year after year after year ...

Wayde was exceptionally friendly and helpful during our stay. The campsites sites and the property are well maintained with easy access to the river. We didn’t spend as much time on the river as we would have liked but we definitely plan on returning for more fishing and kayaking.

Jeremy and Tonya have created a neat place to camp for one night or more. We had signed up for one campsite, but once we arrived, Jeremy helped us pick a site that was better for my car towing a little trailer. The place has a clean outhouse, fun signs around, and my friend Tulio and I were the first ones to try out his new portable shower which we much appreciated after a long day on the road. Jeremy, his brother and a daughter brought a picnic table closer to our site and he offered to set up a fire pit for us if we wanted one. We enjoyed picking some fresh mulberries from a tree right near our tent and gathered some fresh blackberries on a trail at the back end of the camp. In the morning, he brought me a cup of coffee so we sat and had a nice long chat comparing some diverse experiences in life and sharing ideas about ways to add some nice touches to his camp and improve attendance while maintaining its intimate feeling and character. He genuinely enjoys meeting people from other parts of the country and the world who respect the serene quality of his camp.
