Heritage Farm Stay Adventure

22 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents120 acres · Flora, IN
Enjoy a stay at Heritage Farm and experience all the exhilaration that an Indiana farm has to offer. Heritage Farm is a working alpaca farm with over 50 alpacas you can watch and interact with. Also residing on the farm are a flock of chickens, several goats and a horse. The newest addition to the farm is a pain of small breed Kune Kune pigs! If you want to, you can help with the daily chores of feeding the animals and collecting eggs. After that, you can explore the big red barn that was selected as one of the top-ten Bicentennial barns in the state. Roam around the 120 acre homestead, woods and creek and soak in the sights, sounds and smells of the farm. Be sure to visit our farm store before you leave where you can shop for alpaca products such as sweaters, hats, mittens and scarves. Pick up some honey made from bees on our farm or some farm fresh eggs from our flock of pastured chickens! Heritage Farm has several options for overnight lodging. One of the most popular places to stay is in our authentic 1850's log cabin. And it's certainly special to us as well. The cabin represents a valued part of our heritage. It reminds us every day of our agricultural roots, solid values and the importance of faith and family. Our Philosophy You want to have a wonderful stay at Heritage Farm and we want that for you too. This is your retreat for however long you are staying and we hope you'll be relaxed, comfortable and happy. Our Faith Our Christian faith is important to us. We have been so richly blessed with this farm and sharing it with others is what God has called us to do. We strive to show God's love to our guests by exceeding their needs and expectations and by inviting them to enjoy his beautiful creation. We abide by what it says in the Bible in 1 Peter 4:9-10: "Cheerfully share your home with those who need a place to stay. God has given each of us a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another." Valuing Our Past, Building for the Future Our mission at Heritage Farm is to apply that same pioneer spirit and value system to our alpaca business and Farm Stay enterprise. We are dedicated to working hard to provide the best of care to our herd and our overnight guests. I imagine the original occupants of the cabin would have done nothing less. Hoot Owl Hollar

1 site · Lodging1 acre · West Baden Springs, IN
This cabin was built by my husband and I. It has native oak, walnut and maple on the interior walls. We cut the trees ourselves off of the property where we built the cabin. They were then cut and planed by our local Amish. The ceiling is beautiful cedar wood. The exterior and roof are metal. A single heating/cooling unit allows you to control the temperature of the cabin. Inside you will find one room for the bedroom, living room and kitchen. Behind a beautifully handcrafted barn door you will find a second room containing the bathroom and laundry. Kitchen area has a stove and refrigerator as well as a microwave. It is well supplied with dinnerware, cups, glasses, flatware, pots, pans, hand mixer, blender, toaster and several utensils. It has a 55” Roku television for your viewing pleasure. You can relax in one of the 2 swivel rocker recliners or in the bed to watch tv. High speed fiber internet is also available. The queen bed also faces three large windows with a view of the woods. Allowing you to watch the wildlife outside. You may see squirrels, turkey, deer or raccoons and often you will hear a hoot owl or screech owl at dark. The bathroom has a large 60” shower, sink and toilet. This is also where you will find the washer and dryer. Outside you will find a gas grill, a small patio table and a fire pit. Wood and sticks for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows are provided. You can also enjoy the sounds of nature while relaxing by the fire with a good book. There are trees surrounding this property as well as a dry bed. If, there has been a large rain you will see water in it. Please bring your own camping chairs. Our cabin is located just minutes from French Lick and West Baden. Paoli is just a little further away for your shopping, eating and entertainment needs.

Luxury cabins in Indiana guide

Overview

Stretching down from the Great Lakes into the southern heartlands, Indiana borrows the best of both regions for a warm hug of southern hospitality bolstered by the outdoorsy spirit of the Midwest. Outdoor adventurers can climb the sand dunes along Lake Michigan, paddle the Ohio River, or trek through forested canyons, while a bonafide Indiana camping experience means fishing for your supper and toasting s’mores on the campfire. With temperatures that rarely fall below zero even in mid-winter, camping is a year-round affair in Indiana. Our pick is fall, when breezy weather and fiery autumnal colors make for incredible hiking.

Where to go

North Indiana

Indiana’s most Instagram-worthy landscapes can be found at the state’s northeastern boundary. Sloping dunes and sandy beaches line the southern shore of Lake Michigan, and Indiana Dunes National Park has tent and RV camping right by the beach. Further east, industrial towns pepper the road to Amish Country, where you can check into a rustic log cabin in the woods or camp by the lake in Chain O’Lakes State Park.

Central Indiana

Indiana’s central plains are dotted with laidback market towns, cornfields, and lakes. Indianapolis pulls in crowds for its summer motorsports events, most notably the famous Indy 500, but campers can easily escape the city for nearby Mccormick’s Creek State Park or Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Just to the south, Brown County is home to Monroe Lake, the state’s largest lake, hemmed in by Yellowwood State Forest and Brown County State Park.

Southern Indiana

Hilly southern Indiana is blanketed with woodlands, most notably the forested trails and canyons of Hoosier National Forest. Come in fall to hike against a backdrop of foliage or canoe along Sugar Creek, one of the state’s top paddling destinations. Further south, the Ohio River Scenic Byway draws adventurers to hike, paddle, camp, and fish.
