We can be found on HIPCAMP listed under OLD RUGGED BARN. We are in central IL near Historic Rt 66, minutes north of Bloomington-Normal with easy access from I-55. The property is a small 3.5 Acre farmstead that includes our event venue, space that can used for campers, and my home. We offer space for Campers through Hipcamp. We are NOT a campground per se. We do have space on our property to comfortably accommodate up to 8 spaces for Overnight guests. I moved to the farm in 2010 with the intent to simply enjoy the peace And quiet of country living. Then I realized we Could create a place that could serve as a place for community to gather for special events. We are making constant strides to utilize Our 3.5 acres highlighted by the Old Rugged Barn venue and welcome the opportunity to host any kind of public and private event! Located only 25 minutes from Springfield historic sites and 10 minutes from Decatur, IL this location makes it easy to tour during the day and relax by the camp fire in the evening. Our site is perfect for visiting local communities and the relaxing on our quiet site each evening. Decatur has a mini golf course, splash cove water park, children's zoo and museum, a governor's mansion for tours and 3 museums to visit. Milikin University offers local college level sports. Decatur has a great lake for paddle boarding, boating and fishing with canoe trips down the local Sangamon River. Several local breweries and cute market areas makes Decatur a great place to visit. Take a ride on the trolley and learn out our history. Springfield sites are only a hop and skip away with many things to see and learn. Museums offer great programs and the New Salem Park is a fun day trip with the kids to learn about historic living. Lincoln's sites around in several counties are great to see. You also have the opportunity to hike in some great parks and ride your bike on some outstanding central Illinois paths. If you happen to visit late summer enjoy the Illinois Farm Progress show and maybe catch a concert at the Devon Theatre on the lake.

This property features 7.5 acres of prairie farmland with a creek running along the north side of the camping area. To the west, in a separate pasture are cattle living their best lives! This property has easy access off a county road, with spacious parking. A short walk down the property and you're at the private camping area. Each site has plenty of space and privacy, which includes a fully stocked camper with bedding, towels/washcloths, hotel style toiletries, and kitchens stocked with all the essentials. Since this is a boondocking setting, we provide a full fresh water tank, along with a quiet generator at each campsite for power (first full tank is on us). Site 1 hosts a 2021 Rockwood Geo Pro 20BHS Camper. It accomodates up to 6 people, but fits 4 most comfortably. An outside, camper mounted grill is included which utilizes the onboard propane system. TV is included in the main sleeping area, back area has 2 single bunks along with the middle area dinette which also converts into a sleeping area. Full bathroom is in the rear of the camper, with the cooking area placed across from the dinette. Site 2 hosts a 2020 Coleman Lantern 215BH Camper. It accomodates up to 6 people, but fits 4 most comfortably. Outside, the camper has an outdoor kitchen equipped with a mini fridge, a griddle, and a 2 burner cooktop which utilizes the onboard propane system. TV is included in the main sleeping area, back area has 2 oversized bunks along with the middle area dinette which also converts into a sleeping area. Full bathroom is in the rear of the camper, with the cooking area placed across from the dinette. The outside area also features a full power awning with an LED light strip for additional lighting, and the camping space has a family style picnic table. Come enjoy the midwest peacefulness right off Route 66 in this relaxing venue that you're sure to enjoy!

3 nights at 1912 Vintage Barn Experience

I had a lovely three night stay on Aissa and Hank’s property! When we arrived, they were there to welcome us and give us a tour and let us know about our camping options. We were the only campers staying that weekend so they were happy to let us pick our spot and got a fire pit moved for us so we could stay local to our spot for the most part. Their barn and land is gorgeous, and they were equipped with helpful items for campers far beyond what we expected when booking our stay. Aissa and Hank themselves were both very kind and welcoming and made us feel very safe and comfortable. They were around if we needed anything but did not make us feel hovered over and did not interrupt our privacy whatsoever. We had a very sweet and slow weekend, exactly what we were looking for and needed! We would definitely come back and enjoy another weekend here.

Everything was perfect! Aissa and Hank are outstanding, gracious hosts. Starting with a golf cart tour of their property really helps to decide where you want to set up and ask questions. After choosing a convenient spot, both Aissa and Hank are helpful with anything you may need. Bathroom was spotless, very well taken care of property all around. I hope to return to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and peaceful natural surroundings. The barn looks like a great venue for a party or celebration, with plenty of space to park and play in the beautiful backyard. What a terrific find! Thank you so much for your hospitality!

It was perfect for our night stay. It was dark by the time we drove in, and the owner met us at the driveway to help us drive in and helped with getting us hooked up. Beautiful view. You can hear the freeway as it is close by, but it didn’t bother us. Would stay again if ever passing through this area again!

This place is so much fun and very secluded. The water is clear and my kids had fun swinging on the rope and swimming, we also did some light fishing. The hosts are so friendly and helpful. They have a friendly dog that visits, so keep your food up. Only thing I would complain about is my own phone, I had no signal (att). We will be back!

We enjoyed our quick getaway at this campsite. For about $50 per night, you’ll get a semi-private site, direct parking & creek access, fire pits & spend some time with their dog. I wish both sites had their own access to the creek, however, for more privacy. (My bf & I expected to relax alone, but the pit toilet is between the two sites & there was only access to the creek from our side, so the other family staying walked through our site often.) The creek and animals were gorgeous & the trains didnt bother us at all, though they came through frequently. The owner came down to check on us when we arrived & when we were set to leave, but they were flexible on check in/out times. Would come back for sure!

incredible - highly recommend! the land is beautiful, the barn is great, the hosts are amazing..no reason not to go :) my pup and I enjoyed a peaceful stay with lots of room to hangout. Aissa and Hank were so accommodating and kind. the bathroom was really nice, an indoor full space - i appreciated this after much time on the road and at traditional campsites. absolutely recommend this site!

Eric was very very accommodating and low-key. He made sure we had everything we needed. And his farm is very open and welcoming. The lightning bug show at dark was more than I have ever seen in my life. And I was born in an area with a bunch of lightning bugs.
