Stargazers Jungle Lounge Glampsite

7 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Hana, HI
A community hostel style setting of young hearted people to host your stay in Hāna, Maui. We are three miles from downtown Hāna, one mile from Waianapanapa State Park, and close to Hana Farms, The Lava Tubes, and Kahanu Garden. Our ocean view property has a field of tropical flowers underneath some of the largest banyan trees on the island. NOTE: WE HAVE A STRICT CANCELLATION POLICY. WE ONLY HAVE 4 SITES AND THEY FILL UP QUICKLY. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL INSIDE OF OUR 7 DAY CANCELLATION WINDOW AND ASK FOR A REFUND. We are located in the middle of dense jungle far away from the city. The beauty of the outdoors includes the home of the animals and creatures we share the land with. The winter brings its own crab spiders (not harmful), and all year long we have geckos, mosquitos, wild pigs and dogs in the surrounding neighborhood that are beyond our control. Also please know that we currently have a friendly guard dog and two sweet cats living on the property. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH US IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE OUTDOORS and are only staying because you canʻt find anything else affordable. Yes, we offer many amenities from home in our Clubhouse, but we are by no means a hotel. Yes we charge more than the state campsites but we also offer more. OUTDOOR provides two separate lighted tented areas. 1. The BYOB Jungle Bar, and 2, The Jungle Lounge area with seating, internet reception, and a makeshift kitchen equipped with cooking wares, propane camp stove, and potable county water (all supplied). We have a small fire pit when the winds are calm. Bring wood, or you can try and salvage from the jungle when dry. INDOOR COMMUNAL SPACE referred to as our "Clubhouse" boasts a partial ocean view. Here you will find a living room area, dining table, game room with some old school video games, (Centipede, Asteroids, Galaga) and collection of board games. We also have a projector/screen for rainy movie nights. Our SHOWER ROOM has a newly renovated large bamboo enclosement with propane instant hot water with great water pressure. The second INDOOR KITCHEN is stocked with cooking wares, toaster, coffee grinder, vitamix, tea kettle, stove top, fridge and sink available for guest use 5AM to 10PM. CAMPER VANS / POP UPS: THE ONLY FLAT SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR CAMPER VEHICLES ARE THE BANYAN SITES. These spots have a gravel rock bottom and are not suitable for pitching a tent. We get this question all the time so let me try and clarify here. ALL OTHER PARKING SPOTS ARE ON A HILL AND NOT FLAT. If you want to sleep in your van but can NOT secure the BANYAN TREE SITES, your best option is to book a tent only campsite (where we already have an existing tent set up for you). TENT SITES: You will NOT be able to drive to the TENT ONLY sites. You have to park your vehicle in the designated parking area and then walk to and sleep in the tent with your sleeping gear from your van (About 100 feet away from parking area). Included in every reservation at the BAMBOO or OCEAN VIEW / TENT ONLY Sites you will find a 4-6 Man Sleep Tent, Mattress and 13 Foot Popup Canopy Tent for extra rain protection over the sleep tent. This is already set up and waiting for you! If you need a sleep setup you can add it upon HipCamp check out for an additional $25. This includes: one xlarge blanket, set of full sheets, 2 pillows, pillowcases, 2 towels and lantern. MORE THEN TWO PEOPLE / KIDS: Because ONLY TWO PEOPLE PER SITE ARE ALLOWED per reservation. You have two options. Option 1: IF YOU HAVE FOUR PEOPLE - BOOK TWO CAMP SITES. Option 2: ADD YOUR 2 ADDITIONAL PEOPLE UPON CHECK OUT and contact me so I can block off the second site. This is because we have limited resources (Space, Kitchen, Bathroom, Shower etc) so we have to be mindful of how many people we are hosting in one night. IF YOU SHOW UP WITH MORE PEOPLE THEN BOOKED - YOU WILL BE CHARGED $44.00 PER ADDITIONAL PERSON. If you have a children 6 years and younger there is no charge but we would still like to be informed that there will be extra people in your party. Please contact us and get permission before you just show up with extra people. CHECK IN: Between 5-7pm. We currently request quiet hours at 8pm to be courteous to our neighbors and campers. And lights on a timer go out at 10pm. The sun and moon will rise over the ocean in front. HANA PREPAREDNESS INFO: The East side of the island is considered the rain forest. It typically rains almost every night and during the day at some point or another. And sometimes very heavy rains. This keeps it lush and green with running waterfalls, but with that, Hana does have mosquitoes too, (worse in the summer) so plan accordingly. We have a few mosquito nets (first come first use) if you need them for your car/van just ask. The jungle also has its own wildlife like spiders, geckos and also wild pigs that activate the neighborhood dogs at times so bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise. The Hāna Highway is one of the most magical roads in the world and we appreciate when you let the locals pass. If you have any requests or concerns, just let us know. We aim to please and look forward to hosting you! And be sure to make a reservation to visit the State Park Waianapanpa Black Sand Beach at their website. That is the only park in Hana that requires advanced reservations and it is a must see! The 7-10AM slot is the best for less crowds. FOOD: Be sure to, stock up on groceries before you come out as choices are very limited in Hana and the town closes down early @6pm. We have one gas station (open later) and two small general stores. You will find food trucks in Hana town open later when business is good but its hit or miss what will be open when. 1/2 mile walking distance to camp we have Acai Bowls, Thai Food, and Hana Farms. Every Friday and Saturday nights is Pizza night at Hana Farms and a popular meeting spot.

Coastal camping in Maui guide

Overview

Hawaii’s second-largest island has it all—miles of powder-soft sands, soaring volcanic peaks, and spectacular sunrises. Throw in a scenic road trip, several national and state parks, a few waterfalls, and a windsurfing hot spot, and Maui is an obvious choice for adventurers. Campers can enjoy plenty of variety, from drive-in mountain campsites and beachside state campgrounds to hike-in wilderness cabins and primitive campsites in the heart of the rainforest. Maui’s tropical climate brings in the crowds year-round, whether you come for the balmy temperatures and calm waters in summer or make the most of the warm winter weather to go whale-watching.

Where to go

West Maui

Maui’s sunkissed northwest coast is peppered with sandy beaches, luxe resorts, and golf courses, but you can hop between beaches along the Honoapiilani Highway, tuck into farm-to-table cuisine in Kaanapali and Kapalua, or head inland to marvel over the natural wonders of the Iao Valley State Park. Winter campers take note—Maui’s west coast is Hawaii’s most renowned whale-watching destination, and the annual migration takes place from December through April.

North Shore

Maui’s windy North Shore is a hotspot for windsurfing, with rugged cliffs and undeveloped beaches providing a dramatic backdrop. Head to Hookipa, Kanaha, and Spreckelsville beaches to watch the pros in action, check out the surfers at the notorious "Jaws" surf spot, or soak up the laid-back surf town vibes in Paia.

Upcountry

Rolling hills lead inland from Maui’s sandy shores, climbing up to the 10,023-foot Haleakala volcano, the island’s highest peak. This mountainous region is a hiker’s paradise, and Haleakala National Park has a network of trails, along with hike-in wilderness cabins and tent sites. Set your alarm early to avoid missing the legendary sunrise over the Haleakala crater.

East Maui

The Road to Hana (Highway 360) winds its way from Kahului along the northeast coast to Hana, a thrilling road trip complete with hairpin bends, rainforest-cloaked mountains, and cascading waterfalls. Stop along the way to see Wailua Falls, camp by the black-sand beaches of Waianapanapa State Park, or relax on the shores of Hamoa Beach.
