I'm shooting east from site number 9 at 10:30p. Camping at Namakanipaio costs $20 per night $15 if you already have a Volcano's park pass. These sites get less costal moisture at night than camping in the national park and are 3 miles from the park entrance.

The cabin features a full stand-alone restroom equipped with a shower, toilet, sink, and hot water. Additionally, we provide a washer and dryer on-site, ensuring you have all the amenities you need.

While our property is on the grid for power, we also offer Wi-Fi access if needed. Whether you're traveling around the Big Island or simply seeking a place to relax and enjoy beautiful sunsets, our cabin provides a perfect retreat. And if you find yourself caught in a rain shower, you can take advantage of our facilities to dry your clothes.

Yip Camp and Eco-Retreat Center

Yip Camp provides a setting that  promotes immersion in nature. The property is located on the Kilauea Volcano at about 2700 feet in elevation and in sight of the majestic Mauna Loa volcano rising at the peak at 13,680 feet. Both volcanos have been active recently. There are several trails at the National Park 
nearby; trails and several species of birds live on the property including Japanese Pheasants. On clear nights the skies provide excellent ambient viewing of the moon, planets and constellations. The campsites and cottage are located in the woods near a shower and flushing toilet and the property is off grid with the goal to establish an example of sustainable lifestyles and ecosystems. Camping equipment is available upon request and the cottage is furnished with a basic kitchen. The grounds also include a screen room with a grill,  tables, chairs and a fire pit. Local fruits and vegetables are grown on the property and the greenhouse provides food. Solitude is available for those who seek silence and immersion in nature and a number of state and county beaches are within a forty minute drive. The focus is providing a quiet environment and an opportunity for solitude away from the distractions of urban lifestyles. Beaches are about forty five minutes and the drive to Hilo is about 25 miles.

Welcome to our extraordinary off-grid retreat on the Big Island of Hawaii—featured on Discovery Channel’s Homestead Rescue: Between Two Volcanoes. Nestled between Mauna Loa and Kīlauea in the Kaʻū District, our 100-acre working farm offers guests a one-of-a-kind experience in nature, culture, and adventure.

Just 10 minutes from Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and a short drive from Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach, this location is a dream for explorers, stargazers, and nature lovers. Whether you're looking for solitude, eco-tourism, wellness, digital detox, or an enriching family getaway, this is the place!

Step outside and you’re immersed in a living classroom of native flora, lava tubes, fruit orchards, and starlit skies. Wander trails through macnut groves, sip fresh coconut water under the monkeypod tree, or pick fruit straight from the trees—mango, banana, lilikoi, citrus, and more. Kids love the three-level treehouse, and families enjoy meeting our friendly farm animals: horses, cows, and farm dogs.

At night, the Kaʻū Desert transforms into one of the darkest skies in the world. With no city lights for miles, stargazing is beyond incredible. Lay back with a blanket and marvel at the Milky Way, constellations, and even passing satellites or meteor showers.

Our farm is rooted in Hawaiian values of sustainability, ʻohana (family), and aloha ʻāina (love for the land). We're happy to offer an optional guided farm tour or share stories about off-grid living and the volcanic history of the land. Guests leave not only rested, but deeply connected to the land and local culture.

Please note: we are truly off the beaten path—no streetlights, no traffic, and no tourists. The final stretch of road is unpaved and best suited for SUVs

With a fire pit and a wooden table, you're ready for star gazing on the world's most active volcano. The wet jungle is alive with native greenery and provides complete privacy for our campers. Parking is only a few feet from site. The national volcano park is a 20 minutes drive away.

Roadside Fruit Stand Exotic Orchard

We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific.  

We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 10-6 daily including holidays!  We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold.  

We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more.  We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow.  Meet peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig.  Not to mention our friendly farm cats.  

We are a community of a few passionate farmers and fruit lovers.  There’s a family- myself Rose, my partner Matthew and our daughter Mela, plus several awesome guys and girls who help out in different areas to grow our lives together!

This is not a finished resort or a high-traffic attraction. Wild Webs Camp is evolving, and part of its charm is witnessing something being built over time. You may see us measuring, knotting, tensioning, and shaping the webs as the days pass—an experience that many guests find grounding, meditative, and inspiring.

Gingerhill Farm Retreat is a farm community dedicated to exploring sustainability, self-sufficiency, and stewardship of the land. To these ends, we have transformed our lush five-acre plot into a verdant botanical food forest. As you meander through our gardens and orchards, you will marvel at the incredible abundance and beauty that surrounds you. Through our various programs, we invite the community and international guests to join us in our daily routine of work and wellness. Come enjoy expansive ocean views and postcard sunsets. Ohia Hale

As all the land here is born of lava, many moons ago this land began to host plants and critters. Long after,  it was sculpted and a number of families and farmers have contributed to what we have today.  An abundance of fruit and vegetables within sight of the ocean.  Peaceful breezes and warming sun make for unparalleled tranquility.  Today the land still gives back to its visitors.  
Come recharge.
As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters.  Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds.   Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others. 
The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly.  Best to always prepare for rain.
There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips,  grocery,  Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby.  
It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community.  
  As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle.  Staying on the driveway is best.  We will guide you to where you need to go.  
Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops.  *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads.

Road to the Sea Glamping

Enjoy the country life in Kau on the South End of the Big Island and the lovely red Lehua flowers blooming. We live on 20 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place).

 Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there.  You don’t need a 4WD to get to our place, but you will need a SUV or truck. Go slow the road is bumpy and rough in places. We are 1.2 miles from the highway.

Off the grid. Rustic, but fun.

 If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot!

Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping.

Shared bathroom (see photos) about a 100 feet away. Hipcamp kitchenette includes a propane single burner, ice chest, No fridge. No oven. We have an outdoor fire pit, if you like campfires!

It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things.

The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water.

Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is plenty of coffee and tea in the kitchenette. Boil hot water in the kettle, put cone filter with a paper filter and ground coffee inside and on top of thermos. Drip. It's delicious!

This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches.  No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and Tmobile work also

The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing!

The back 15 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve. 

We have beautiful furnished cabins with beds, so you don't have to pitch a tent.&nbsp;Pillows, blankets, fresh towels provided.

Ocean View is often referred to as the goldilocks of Hawaii. Our climate is quite lovely with temperatures ranging from 70's in winter to low 80's in the summer. At night it cools off some for a great resting temperature. We usually have nice tradewinds blowing through. Our property is rural and quiet. Perfect for a good nights sleep. The evenings make for great stargazing and the days are not too hot with sun in the morning and sometimes clouds roll in during the afternoon. Ocean View lives up to its name with Ocean Views from most places. The town itself features friendly folks and a variety of establishments including a pizzaria, grill, grocery stores, farmers markets, gas station, post office, and gift shop. Ocean View is located just 30 minutes from Punaluu black sand beach, Punaluu Bakery, 35 minutes from Hookena Beach and  South Point-with access to Green Sands Beach, just 5 minutes from Kula Kai Caverns, one of the largest lava tube systems, 1 hour from Volcano National Park, 15 minutes from great hiking and beauty at Kahuku Volcano Park Unit, 10 minutes from Manuka Wayside Park and hiking, and 5 minutes from Road to the Sea 4WD road.
