We are even located on a short dirt road to give you that country feel. All of our sites are spread out from one another and you will feel secluded in the woods with nature. On our farm are free range chickens, peacocks, goats and a donkey in a pasture, turkeys (wild and domesticated), honeybees (in the field), and a few outdoor cats. We enjoy our animals and nature. We want to share this experience with others so we have decided to rent a few camping spots that we have shared over the years with our children. This is a great secluded spot for over night or a weekend trip. Me and my two brother in laws wanted a quick getaway. It was easy to get to. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I had plenty of room for my sprinter and a jeep with two tents and space for cooking around the fire. I would highly recommend checking this spot out.

I had a wonderful stay on JoLane and Sam's place. JoLane offered prompt replies and all information needed for arrival. Sam (a veteran) met me and guided me to Site 4. We had a nice chat about local going-ons... all the more making me feel at home. The site was just right for my Colorado and 16ft camper. That being said, this site would be perfect for single or multiple tent camping! I enjoyed the peaceful feeling of being in remote, deep woods... without really being far away from conveniences or access to major roads. Do yourself a favor a spend a night or two here!

6 nights at Sun Valley Horse & Hiking Camp!

This was such a fun place to stay! The weather wasn't the best the week I was there, rainy and cold. But nevertheless the experience of staying at a working stable was fun. Every morning the horses get fed, then let out of their stables into the fields. And every evening they get brought back in. I stayed around the back of the main stable next to the juvenile pen. They have 2 youngsters who I ended up making friends with. If you can't tell I'm not a horse person. But being able to stay at Sun Valley, I'm learning to love them! Definitely worth the stay. Note: you're staying amongst the stables, so expect flies and smells. Enjoy the atmosphere! It's all part of the experience!

Dwayne is a great host he went out of his way to make sure we got to our site even when we didn’t arrive until 9pm. The people there were great we had no problem being directed to where we could set up camp my grandson loved the horses he was allowed to go around to all the stables and pastures and seed and Pat and love on the horses we also want to thank Miss Mary Blake for his very first horseback riding lesson and it was just awesome we had a great time very relaxing everybody was kind and helpful Miss Holly was great she answered all of my questions even when she was at work we loved it to sum it up in a few words we loved it we will be going back

Fish, swim, or boat at the Lake Tobesofkee Recreation Area, a popular Macon attraction for all ages. The park features family-friendly amenities like kids’ playgrounds and a popular disc golf course. Launch a boating excursion from Lake Tobesofkee’s 35 miles of shoreline, or camp year-round within its 1,800 acres of protected forests—many of the area’s campsites offer paved tracks for RVs, picnic pavilions, electric hookups, and bathhouses.

Amerson River Park

Camp near the high bluffs of Amerson River Park to enjoy pristine views of the river and its tree-lined banks, then head out to kayak, canoe, or float downriver. Seven miles of trails offer scenic views of the park's meadows, forests, and marshes, too. Although no camping is allowed within the park, there are plenty of campsites nearby for tenting or RVing, as well as rustic and fully furnished cabin rentals.

When to go

Macon offers fun year-round, with peak camping between April and October, when weather allows for a more diverse range of outdoor activities. Though some campgrounds shut down for winter, many remain open with basic amenities such as restrooms and water. It’s also possible to find cabin rentals and RV parks that offer year-round accommodations near Macon’s most popular recreation areas.
