History: this land was originally part of a large cattle ranch in the 1980s. The main ranch is still up and running but this parcel was used for many purposes over the years. In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing! My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by BLM land, BACA land, and Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Be sure to bring extra bug spray and protection needed against biting insects such as flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. For those bringing your pets, they MUST be on a leash/lead at all times. While I do not have much cactus on my property, I do have an abundance of greasewood (Chico brush) which is very thorn-like if stepped on. Accommodations for those with livestock or horses, just make sure you chat in advance your initial message. Close to BLM, and National Forest as well as 3 hot springs within 20 miles and the Great Sand Dunes. We are still under construction and making changes often so bear with us while we continue to add and change things for the better!

Overnight, Seasonal, and Extended Stay Camping, we are open year-round. We have 30/50amp sites (shade and partial shade) around our lake, 20 amp in the "upper campground," and dry camping (full facilities) along the Arkansas River (Gold Medal fishing) with access for all campers for fishing and floating. Many of our sites are great for star-gazing, watching meteors, looking for fireflies, and seeing the birds zip on by. We are conveniently located on Hwy 50, in Bighorn Sheep Canyon, and have all sorts of rental options for your outdoor adventure needs. Whether you want to pitch a tent, try out the glamping experience, enjoy the convenience of an RV, or rent one of our fully equipped RVs, we have the perfect spot for you. We have four entrances marked by sail flags into the campground, two by the lake, one near the bathhouse, and one by the post office (on our property). The map of the Arkansas River has our campground listed! Adventure awaits with home to the highest mountain peaks in Colorado and the river and 102 miles of Trout Gold Medal Water. There is access to white water rafting, guided fishing, and fishing lessons. There are at least 5 hot springs within 60 miles of Twin Bridges Campground. Salida is considered the white-water rafting capitol of the US by some and has a whitewater park and surfing wave. Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

There is common area that includes a large firepit, small table and charcoal grill for your enjoyment. I loved this spot. Beautiful sunset, and extremely peaceful. Doug was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area. Im definitely coming back. Very private.

Lance is an exceptionally courteous and responsive host. His land is truly spectacular. It's a private paradise for people that want to get off the beaten path with a camper. The river is beautiful and this spot it is totally worth the price. It may not be everyone's cup of tea without the amenities of a campground/RV park, but if you don't want all that and are looking for quiet breathtaking views, with space for your fur babies to frolic through fields and swim in the river, this place is for you. I'm so grateful I was able to spend time here and will likely return next year!

The bigger camper is the Brown Trout site and the smaller one is the Cutthroat Trout site. Come and enjoy our peace!

This place was wonderful. The bathrooms were clean and had great water pressure! My site was right along the Arkansas River, so you could hear the water running as you slept. It is close to the road so traffic noise can be an issue. I would absolutely stay here again!!

The spot (Caddis) is really close to the water. Was great to be able to walk to the water and fish, put your feet in the water, or just sit and watch the River. You can hear some traffic from Hwy 50 but not too bad. The bathrooms didn't have the water turned on the first day we were there but on the next. Bathrooms are nice and there are also porta potties down by the river. Plenty of shade and trees. Overall a very relaxing and nice spot we would go to again.

What a beautiful property to explore. We had access to private fishing and stand up paddleboarding while we camped on the property. There were several lakes and streams, trails and cool little ghost town right outside the property. We felt very comfortable, welcome and safe the entire time. We had 4 adults, 3 children a dog.

We stayed at Mayflower, right next to Stonefly, and it was such a beautiful spot! The directions were super clear, and the whole area was just stunning. We set up our hammocks by the river and spent hours relaxing and soaking it all in. We rented the propane grill..it was really easy to use and we also made coffee and cooked over the fire using our stand-up grill rack that fit perfectly over the firepit. The bathrooms and showers were honestly such a treat..super clean and really well taken care of. We’ll definitely be back and are already recommending it to friends, family, and pretty much everyone we know!

The views of the sand dunes and surrounding mountains were wonderful and the stargazing at night was incredible because of the clear sky! Christine welcomed us as we checked in and said that we were welcome to ride around the property with 4 wheelers , so my two granddaughters took advantage! Water pressure was low but no big deal, we had a great time!

This is a great spot and I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone. First… the communication was great with Lance who kept in contact and answered questions promptly. Second… the property is amazing. Just a few miles south of South Fork, Colorado on the Rio Grande River. Beautiful views, wildlife and tranquility. Third…easy access off the highway. There are three RV sites with hookups (H20/elec) but they are very close together. We opted for boondocking on the property further away and had a beautiful site in the woods. We were within walking distance to the river and small lake. Fourth…we were able to empty our tanks upon leaving in a very clean and easily assessable water/waste disposal site on the property. Fifth…we had our two dogs who were able to roam freely which is nice. Sixth… price $100/night which seemed a bit high but let me tell you it’s worth it. Lance has invested a ton of money into this project so I get it. Colorado is notorious for fees and taxes and I bet he has plenty of expenses to go with this site. Finally…you cannot go wrong here. There was a ranch hand lady who was on the property and very kind and helpful if needed. We had the place to ourselves, which was great. The RV sites would be a problem for me if others were camping at the same time l, but we always avoid RV parks for that reason and it may not be a problem for others. Please look at this site if your head g to South Fork. It gets a five star review from me!

Look for the hummingbird feeder - You'll know you are in the right spot!

Weekend Trip to Twin Bridges Campground

Really lovely spot, and glad we selected the larger plot which enabled a great tucked away area for the pup, who loved the water running through the site. Patricia was wonderful and very helpful when the fire pit didn't work right and needed to be swapped - came down in the dark to bring a new one.
