Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Bright Bear Camp is a private two-acre property bordering Tahoe National Forest.  We are located at 4300' elevation down a mostly dirt road along the beautiful Bear River and Bear Valley. This is a very peaceful spot among the trees with a small meadow and creek on the property.

As our name suggests, bears are occasionally in the area so keep an eye out. You may also see the spotted owls that live nearby - listen closely for their calls (https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Spotted_Owl/overview).

There is much to explore in the area and more with only a short drive to the South Yuba River, Emerald Pools, Lake Spaulding, Donner Pass, Donner Lake, and Truckee.

Wild Plumas

In 2024, Wild Plumas will be transitioning to only one glamping site and one cabin, which means even more privacy and room to roam! Wild Plumas is located on our family's private 50-acre property at the base of the Sierra Nevada. Rent one site, or the whole property for a larger event like a reunion, retreat, or small wedding! 

The camps are completely private (each one has 3+ acres). The Wild Rose offers a large canvas tent with two queen beds, comfortable bed/bedding, an outdoor kitchen area, private hot shower, and more (check the listings for details). We also have one year-round cabin (The Shabby Cabin), with a queen sized bed, indoor woodstove, outdoor covered kitchen, and private hot shower.

We are located one hour from the Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park, and minutes from swimming holes, lakes, and a million acres of National Forest- or simply stay at the property and enjoy the on-site hiking trails, free loaner bikes, treehouse, zip line, and kid's ninja warrior course. The campsites are also just a few steps from swimming holes along the creek that runs throughout. 

Thank you for respecting our new policy of no dogs allowed. We love your pets, and we know they travel as part of your family! Unfortunately, for the safety of local wildlife, and the sustainability of our accommodations, we no longer permit pets at either site. 

Please note: Our community was severely affected by the Dixie Fire. Although you can't tell from within our property, the nearby area was heavily burnt, as well as the nearby town of Greenville. During your stay, you may hear the sounds of Greenville as the town rebuilds (1.5 miles away) and you may incur brief driving delays on your way here.  When you arrive at Wild Plumas- an oasis of green within the black- you will see what a miracle it is that we survived! We thank you for your patience and for your support of our small business during this time. Be sure to visit Greenville's new pop-up downtown with food trucks, a thrift store, and an outdoor bar. 

Each site accommodates between two-four people and additional adults are $10/night who are welcome to sleep outdoors in their own tents. There is no charge for children.

Genesee Camp

I fell in love with this piece of property years ago, and finally was able to build my dream home here. I rescue unwanted dogs from certain euthanasia who have been abandoned or abused, and provide them a forever home.  Now I want to share my beautiful wooded property where they can run, swim, investigate, play, and enjoy a free-range lifestyle. Campers and their canine family members are welcome to come and enjoy the outdoors.

Butterfly Valley Yurt

Beautiful mountain property with Doug fir, sugar pine, oak, white fir, incense cedar, Ponderosa pine, alders, willow. Butterfly Valley is within walking distance of Butterfly Valley Botanical Area, a protected area with many native carnivorous plants. Two minute drive to Butterfly Beach on Spanish Creek, one of the best swimming holes in Plumas County. Right in the heart of the scenic Feather River and Lost Sierra, home of world-renowned hiking, biking, fishing, backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, white water rafting and more. This is truly a special property! Quincy is a thriving mountain community of 5,000 residents, the county seat of Plumas County, home of Feather River College and High Sierra Music Festival, restaurants, and a microbrewery.

Genesee Valley Farm & Retreat

The goal for this ranch is to plant orchards, a farm, and oak trees. The Beautiful Genesee Valley is voted "the Most desirable area to live in Plumas County". The valley boasts of cattle ranches, sweeping valleys lined by the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, and pristine meadows literally bursting with life. This area, home to beautiful valleys and inspiring vistas is also rich with the history of the Maidu Indian, early American settlers, gold mining, ranching and logging. In fact, a drive along the highways linking Quincy to Indian Valley and Susanville will put you on the ancient trail through the land of the Mountain Maidu Indians, a trail, known to the Maidu people as the Worldmaker’s Trail. Rural living and community, rich history and a natural wonderland make the Indian and Genesee Valley area a place to “come home”.

Come visit our gorgeous 17 acre private property, nestled in and above the Spanish Creek area of Plumas National Forest, mere minutes from the quaint, yet bustling mountain town of Quincy, CA, and experience a unique convergence of camping, hiking, backpacking and bushcrafting for an unforgettable custom outdoor adventure. 

Surrounded by hundreds of acres of the Mt. Hough / South Park Trail System's beautifully maintained hiking, biking, equestrian and moto trails, this private camping experience is sure to be a change from the norm. 

Area attractions within walking distance of the property include hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking/ATV trails, swimming, tubing, horse-back riding, gold panning, geocaching and more, not to mention the variety of fun and delicious offerings in town itself. 

You can hike your own gear up the hill, or, better yet, I can deliver your gear, firewood and potable water directly to your remote and private site via ATV,  so all you have to do is enjoy the leisurely hike in from the national forest trail you like best. We will do all the heavy work, so you can just enjoy the experience, including spectacular views from the top of our ridge. 

Also, volunteers helping us with fire recovery and prevention work for the day can always stay for free that night.
