Blue Tent Grove

1 site · Lodging5 acres · Nevada City, CA
We are excited to share our beautiful retreat with you! We set up this glamping experience to share the beauty and tranquility of our property. Your stay here will be the perfect escape to Nevada City and the magic of the Yuba River. The property is located in the Blue Tent region of Nevada City. The region is a historic 19th century gold mining community that lies on a gold-bearing channel of an ancient river bed. Blue Tent was established in 1850 and named after its first dwelling, a tent made of blue denim. The community thrived, becoming a center for hydraulic mining. Before long, it had its own store, dance hall, blacksmith shop, boarding house and other buildings. Like the other communities in the region that depended on hydraulic mining, Blue Tent began to decline following the 1884 Sawyer decision. A farmer near Sacramento had sued the major mining company in state court to stop it from discharging mining debris into the Yuba River. This debris was destroying farmland downstream. By the early 1890s, the Blue Tent mine was closedLearn more about this land:Inspired by our own experiences traveling and staying in large comfortable bell tents we set out to create a setting we would want to stay in ourselves and share with you.THE PROPERTYThe property is a largely flat and walkable 5 acres to camp and explore. We are 15 mins from downtown Nevada City and 7 minutes to Edwards Crossing on the Yuba River which is a great swimming spot. There are also many other great river and hike locations nearby. Our house and shop are on the property so we are typically around.THE TENTThe tent itself is a large canvas bell tent. It is 16 feet in diameter and has a high ceiling so you can stand up and have plenty of space inside. We have a pillow top queen size bed in the tent with sheets, pillows and a down comforter. There are a few pieces of furniture including a vintage dresser, a chair and a bedside table. We also have included some battery powered candles to create a relaxed low light environment if needed.THE CAMPSITEThe campsite consists of the tent itself, a fire pit, some camping chairs and a picnic table.BATHROOMFull bathroom in the house which is a short walk from the tent. (see photos) The house is up a small hill and far enough away that you are completely private. Frolic Gatherin'Ground

2 sites · Lodging20 acres · CA
Located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Gold Country~ 15 min from Grass Valley, Nevada City or Colfax.  Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the big oak, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to pause and listen. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

Yuba River Retreat

4 sites · Lodging1500 acres · Nevada City, CA
This special land is part of a multi-parcel wildlife corridor, helping to provide valuable habitat between the state parks, along the creek and river. Out your doorstep, you'll find more than 15-miles of private, groomed, hiking, biking and horseback riding trails and have an opportunity to reconnect with nature. Our solar-powered farmhouse overlooks the mountains and an organic orchard and garden, with two queen bedrooms lined with hand-milled sugar pine from the land, strong wifi/tv, waterfalls, and private network of trails to hike or bike. Walk to refreshing creek swimming hole or private Yuba river swimming access available at certain times. Included in your stay is seasonal organic produce to gather out your doorstep in our family's organic garden and hammocks to relax in under the fruit treas and at the creek. The two bedrooms downstairs have queen beds handcrafted of sugar pine milled from downed trees from the land and are fitted with organic sheets.
