CLOSE TO YOSEMITE! Explore the mines and hang out on our Groveland, California ranch! We are 35 minutes to the main gate of Yosemite National Park. A great place to stay just outside of the park. 

We have 824 acres on a beautiful cattle ranch with two small ponds. On our property, you'll find frogs, turtles, oak trees, pine trees and stunning views of Yosemite. 

We have several campsites to choose from including RV camping, tent camping, and a glamping tent. Pets are welcome. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. Potable water and toilet are available onsite.

There's a golf course less than a mile away. We are also very close to town. In just a few minutes, you can drive to our local grocery store and pizza parlour. 

We are a 10-minute drive to Pine Mountain Lake.  Beautiful Pine Mountain Lake offers golfing, dining, horseback riding, water sports and an airport.

When you come to the ranch it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization, but still close to everything you need. It is incredibly peaceful!

This is a great place for someone who wants to escape city life and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.

Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds.

Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite.

A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

Cosumnes River Ranch

We are a family owned/operated ranch, located along the Cosumnes River, one of the last un-dammed rivers in California.
 As one of the last rivers flowing from the west slope of the Sierra without a major dam, the Cosumnes is a vital example of a healthy watershed.

Our goal is to offer a unique outdoor experience for anyone looking for a place to spend time in the great outdoors.
Whether you're looking for a single campsite, or a place for a larger gathering, we're excited to have you visit!

Take your pick of activities available on site: swimming , gold panning, fishing, camp fires, wildlife watching, floating, hiking, and mountain biking to name a few. There are 3 miles of river to explore.

Cosumnes River Somerset Camp

This land was home to the Miwok, then European and Chinese miners, then a cattle rancher. It was also home to a former nun who quit the dominican order to purchase this land for inner city kids to have a chance to ride, swim, hike and fish. We moved here in 2017 and purchased this land with the main goal to raise our large family here, but we have found that good things must be shared!  There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. 

We feel certain you will not be disappointed with this beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have  2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites  (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe!  Many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting. It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. The recent Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins. It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

The Foxes  Family Farm

Welcome to The Foxes Family Farm! Our property is situated on 5 beautiful acres and we offer private campsites that provide the ultimate in seclusion and relaxation.

We have multiple tent/RV sites that come complete with 30 amp power, water, and septic facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay for you and your motorhome. We also have a cabin available that sleeps 4 people and comes with A/C! 

No need to worry about laundry during your stay, as we have a washer and dryer available onsite. Additionally, we've crafted a delightful shower, toilet, and laundry room, equipped with all the amenities you'd need for a refreshing and comfortable experience. The hot water shower is available for a small fee of $3, and we've even provided shampoo and conditioner for your convenience.

We also have potable water available through our pump or well. 

We understand that your furry friends are part of the family, so we happily welcome pets to our property. Let them explore and enjoy the great outdoors alongside you.

As the sun sets and the night sky blankets the surroundings, you'll have the opportunity to gather around a crackling campfire. Enjoy the warmth, roast marshmallows, and create lasting memories. Please note that campfires are allowed unless there's a fire ban in effect, ensuring everyone's safety.

Located just a 35-minute drive from Sacramento, our property offers the perfect blend of tranquility and accessibility. Explore the city's vibrant attractions, then return to our peaceful retreat to unwind and rejuvenate.

Camp Nauvoo

Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp.  The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015.  The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events.  

We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home.  We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) .  We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites.  We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review).

We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe.  We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families.  We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.  

We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table.  The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection.  We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones.  We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys.  We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails.  We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers!    We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, 

For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.  We have hiking trails throughout the property.  Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings).

The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes.  As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing.  

We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property.  We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use.  There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area.  

We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site.  

No internet service.  There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore.

We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.  We do not do checkins on Sunday but do allow camping over Sunday night.  We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. 

We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments.  Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes.

We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc.  We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap.  We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice.   We take venmo or cash.

CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8.  IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE BAY ALLOW 4 HOURS - YOU MUST LEAVE BY 3:00 IN ORDER TO ARRIVE DURING CHECKIN.  IF YOU GET DELAYED, FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF THE OTHER CAMPERS YOU MAY CONSIDER WAITING AND ARRIVING THE NEXT MORNING.  THERE ARE NO CHECKINS AFTER 9:00.

We accept reservations for wine and cider tastings and typically host guests between the hours of 11 am and 5 pm.  

Occasionally, during very hot and busy holiday weekends, we will host an evening tasting.  

Please note, we are a mom and pop shop with just two of us and our young son running the show.  We live on site in a tiny house and use the tasting area as our 'back yard' during off hours.  We ask that guests please respect our area and off hours requests.  We do not permit live fires or generators.

Wondernut Farm

Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground.

Being first and foremost a functional farm, we can't help but offer a somewhat warts-and-all look into everything it takes to be working to our goals. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers.

Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away.

Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets.

Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks.

Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

Lillaskog A-Frames Near Yosemite

Welcome to our A-Frame Nolla Cabins at the doorstep to Yosemite! Lillaskog, meaning "Little Forest" in Swedish, is a large property tucked away overlooking Stanislaus National Forest. 

Our property is conveniently located off Highway 120 and 15 minutes outside of the entrance to Yosemite National Park. While amenities such as the town of Groveland, restaurants, and gas stations are nearby (15 minutes away), you will truly feel like you are off the beaten path at this campsite. 

Featuring our A-Frame cabins in partnership with Nolla from Finland, sleep on a comfy mattress on a bed looking out through a floor-to-ceiling window where you may see deer grazing nearby, cedar and pine trees, and big sky with stars at night. 

Each cabin has a picnic table outside, a Yeti cooler of water, as well as clean composting toilets. Hot showers are available across the road at our sister property!

Please be sure to check the Yosemite website for details on Park Reservations ahead of time if you plan to go Yosemite! 

The Painted Lake

Kayaks and ample Eggs provided. Explore BLM and Reclamation land along the shores of New Melones reservoir near Angels Camp. Horses, goats, sheep , and chickens await you on every fence line you come to. Kayak on the waters below as you camp on our fully vineyard-fenced 20 acre private acreage. Our land is surrounded by 100’s of acres of lake front - public Federal lands surrounded by our private acreage and great neighbors you’ll never see.

Enjoy the sunset while you have a nice warm fire! Fire pits included with all campsites during low fire danger season, typically Oct-May.

Sierra Mountain Tranquility

Come experience our majestic pine and oak wilderness, all with beautiful vista of Cosumnes River Valley and mountains for miles & miles. Lounge in the peace and quiet. Hang out with our goats, sheep, dogs, chickens, guineas, and ducks during the day! Plus 2 miles of beautiful wilderness trails.

Our mission here at Fjellgard Ranch is to create a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. We started with 10 sites in May of 2021, but have reduced the number of bookable sites to 5. We would rather have less people here and have each site have it's own personal space. Most campgrounds shove you in shoulder-to-shoulder, and you find yourself trying to sleep 5 feet from someone's hammering RV generator! We aren't interested in maximizing our property's capacity, though we could probably make more money that way. We are more interested in creating a tranquil and calm getaway for you, where you can enjoy all that nature has to offer in the Sierra Foothills.

Our site is close to many attractions in the area. The area abounds with famous California gold country sites, museums, and historic Downtown Placerville. We are positioned about 20-30 minutes from some of the state's most beautiful swimming, kayaking, and hiking locations. Shenandoah Valley Wineries are a wonderful stop just 30 minutes South of us, and Apple Hill orchards are 30-40 minutes North-East of us. And of course, the ever-popular Lake Tahoe is 1 hour North-East on Hwy 50.

We aim to create a peaceful, welcoming, and safe environment. We believe in diversity, inclusion, and equity for all people!

PLEASE NOTE before you book:

- We do not typically accept reservations Monday-Wednesday (unless holiday weekend) and are closed for those days. If you are wanting to book a longer stay, please contact us and we can evaluate your situation and open the dates for you.

- Please book all extras through the Hipcamp App. If you decide later to add on anything after arrival, you can change your reservation to reflect.

- All sites come with a fire pit during wetter months (typically Nov-May). Please check site to see if fires are currently permitted. All sites except Site #9 come with a picnic table. If this is during our dry season with high fire danger, we do not allow open wood or charcoal fires. If you have any questions about fires, please feel free to reach out to us. During dry season, propane fires & stoves are permitted and we rent them out in the extras section.

- We cannot accommodate camping vehicles larger than 20 feet. We cannot accommodate trailers. We have a very small turnaround and it is difficult to maneuver larger vehicles and trailers in these areas. Site #1 is the only site that you can park at with a vehicle within the site.

- Refunds are honored if you cancel before 72 hours prior to your check-in time. If your reservation starts at 2pm on Friday, you will need to cancel by 2pm on Tuesday. We do not refund for late cancellations due to unfavorable weather. Please do your diligence by checking weather reports early and cancel early if you believe you will not want to camp in those conditions.

- Because we are in a natural mountain environment, we do have to deal with pests from time to time. During warmer months mosquitos, bees, ants, and wasps will often frequent our campsites, attracted by food. We do what we can to keep them away, but mid-Summer months especially are more difficult. If you feel like this will bother you, please consider booking with us Fall through Spring.

160 Acres amidst National Forest

Welcome to Slate Mountain where you have access to 160 acres of gated, private wilderness with 360 degree mountain views and exclusive waterfront year-round on Slab Creek. Bring your hiking boots or your off-road toys and explore 160 acres of secluded, magical forest filled with wildflowers, butterflies, ancient Pines and Cedars, wild berries, and wild game. Pitch a tent or park your RV at your choice of locations with amazing views and total seclusion. Spend the day relaxing, picnicking, and try your luck at gold panning on pristine Slab Creek where not a single human or road exists for miles. Plan a retreat. Plan a family reunion. Plan a hunting trip with the boys. Bring your motorless watercraft and spend an afternoon at Stumpy Meadows, a beautiful mountain reservoir a 25 minute drive from the property. Apple Hill wineries and farms are a 40 minute drive. If you bring the off-road toys you also have access to miles of trails throughout hundreds of acres of national forest. Don’t feel like cooking? Smoke on the Water restaurant at Finnon reservoir in Swansboro is a quick 20 minute drive from the property. If you need supplies, a nice restaurant, or a day of wine tasting to break up the grit, Downtown Placerville and Georgetown are both a 45 minute scenic drive.  

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: 

1) To get the most out of your experience, we highly recommend a 4WD vehicle.

2) The creek is at the bottom of the canyon, 1.5 miles from the gate at the entrance, and the road down is very steep in parts. We highly recommend an off-road vehicle/ATV for easy access to creek. If your vehicle is 4WD you can drive approximately 1 mile down, park and hike the remaining .5 mile to the creek. 

3) Be aware you are in the middle of the forest and wildlife such as bear, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, etc have been spotted on the property. Poison Oak can also be spotted in certain areas.  

4) The property has cell service on the upper quadrant, however once you drop below the tree line toward the creek there is no service.

Ancient Native American Forest

Welcome! When visiting El Dorado's Wine and Gold Country, we invite you to stay at our small chicken-and-hog ranch that sits on land that was once settled by the Miwok People of the Sierras. Here you will find ancient grinding stones and a rock-lined trail along abandoned summertime swimming holes. At the base of this rustic escape, you will find a cascading waterfall that was surely admired then as it is now.  

Invite your friends and family to explore these ancient living grounds that boast towering oak, pine and cedar trees with all the wildlife native to the Sierra Foothills. There is also a mile-long seasonal stream that meanders down the property along carved granite rock formations. Miles of hiking trails give access to opportunities for recreational activities like mountain biking, mushroom foraging, birdwatching, ancient native-village-site exploration, and nature-gathering. If you are a forager, keep an eye out for Lion's Mane mushrooms which we often find on fallen or decaying oak trees. Beginning in July, be prepared to pick wild raspberries that grow and ripen along the drying creek. 

Our small ranch is a natural habitat to a diverse wildlife population that includes quail, turkey, deer, and bear. Our herds of sheep, goat, hogs and chicken vary with the season but they are usually "just hanging around" the farm eating the spoils of a forest rich in life and forage. When guests are around, they are usually kept in their pens where they get to relax with their dine-in buffet of grains, grass and forage.

There is tent and RV space access for overnight and multiple-day recreational trips however there is no gray or black water dumping on the property. This is an ideal spot for a private group/family getaway so come enjoy a rustic retreat that you, your friends and family can build strong memories around. Somerset, CA is located in wine country and is within minutes of award-winning wineries and farm-to-fork eateries so you and your guests can enjoy the best of both worlds on and off-site. There are popular local swimming holes along the Middlefork of the Cosumnes River a short 5-minute drive and a scenic pond for kayaking, canoeing and fishing within 10 minutes of the ranch. We are less than an hour away from Sacramento and about an hour away from Tahoe just below the snowline.

Atticus Woods Hilltop Camping

 Atticus Woods sits on a sunny hilltop that is 5 acres of peace and quiet and a variety of cedar, oaks, manzanita and pines.  The land is gently sloping and has been lovingly cleared to provide trails and large open sky communal spaces.  In addition, the property has hidden coves, stunning view spots, private as well as community based sites, fire pits and secluded wooded sites you can hike out to for your own little slice of earth to experience. 

 The terrain and trails make for an easy hike around the property and to the Outhouse/Outdoor Shower/Changing room.  With deep canyon views turning sunset pinks and oranges, the strategically placed string lights , motion detected solar trail lighting and communal fire pits all aglow, its the makings of a magical experience from dawn till dusk....and into the evening. 

I am happy to offer family friendly hangouts that have been diligently cleared of poison oak as well as thorns, stickers and other pesky growth. I also have installed outlets at the base of the flood light posts in 4 different areas. You can charge your phone, electronics, even turn on and off flood lights when needed. Another family friendly and all around convenience is the motion censored lighting found high in the trees that illuminates the trails at night. You won't get stuck in the pitch black night when your battery dies on your flashlight, or maybe you willet a glimspe of the black bear that's been sneaking around lately, as he sets off the motion sensor! Its not a perfect campground or a picture perfect glamping site, and I am not by any means finished with this project of mine, but its really coming along and the most important things seem to be in place! So bring the family for some memories to be cherished as you hang out in nature's perfectly imperfect wild. 

Accommodations

Atticus Woods offers tent camping, vintage campers, car camping and RV spaces with accommodations. We have an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink and privacy. Next to the outhouse, you will find the outdoor shower that faces the El Dorado National Forest for privacy and serenity.  The 300' deep well provides clean, tasty water.  Speaking of H2o, each campsite has its own water spigot as well as a campfire positioned close to the water for safety. 

The tent sites have been cleared of poison oak, leveled and prepped to offer multiple configurations. Each site has its own appeal, please read through to get a better understanding and find the perfect site for your stay.  For example, shady and tucked away or open and with views. It's good to note that the sites are still in the wilderness and are bound to get rough around the edges, however much I try to push back. The sites are still in nature and you can also expect some amount of natural grade, rough spots and areas without a top soil layer of decomposed granite. 

Electrical outlets for charging phones and other devices are located at 4 different parts of the property.  

You will find a few barbecues that can be used on a first come first serve basis, this includes 3 weber for the tabletop and a full-size weber as well as some options for grilling over an open fire. I don't offer coals or starter fluid etc., anymore, I couldn't keep up with demand and remain affordable, my apologies. Please consider bringing these items with you. Keep in mind: I am ALWAYS willing to help out if you are in need, forgot something crucial etc., so don't hesitate to ask. I understand and most likely have what you need, if I am on the property. 

Firewood

Atticus Woods has 5 + acres of woods and meadow. The trees will drop branches during storms, giving lots of good firewood for your campfire. We cut and stack wood for the house, but there's more than we need. So, as long as it lasts, firewood found on the property is free while you are staying with us.  Campers enjoy the walks around the property to collect wood for their fire and kindling for a starter. I do have heavy, seasoned oak rounds for purchase while they last as well as hard wood bundles for sale (cheap) if you are not interested in collecting wood and would like something that will burn for a long time. The wood is sold using an honor system and I appreciate being able to offer this to guests, so thank you in advance.                             

Campfires and Fire Circles

Camping just isn't the same without a campfire. We agree. But, this is a highly dangerous area with most of the year out of the question, unless the campfire is positioned next to a water source and folks are educated in fire safety.  We have prioritized fire safety and made each campsite complete with a water spigot next to the campfire, allowing campfires throughout the year but still being diligent in following local fire bans. 

Along with campfires at campsites, Camp Atticus is all about the communal fire circles created to encourage community and give options for larger groups. Our Communal Fire Circles are a truly beautiful experience when the property is fully booked!  Whether you are the only camper on the property or the campgrounds are fully booked, the vibe is right.  A truly spectacular outdoor experience at Atticus Woods Campgrounds. 

Getting around

The main trail winds around the 3 campsites and continues to the Shower/Outhouse. We find the dark skies to be exhilarating, but we have lit up the trails to help you find your way.  The entire property glows at night with solar string lights high in the trees helping you find your way, its kind of magical.

 The private acreage has its own entrance to El Dorado National Forest with 1000's of acres of wild that provides views as far as the eye can see. This visual freedom allows the start of your "reset" as you stay here and connect with nature. 

 Atticus Woods was created to bring people together with nature's beauty, open skies and the quiet stillness found here. The campsites are clustered around a communal space giving privacy and community as well.  The communal spaces are located in 3 separate parts of the property, giving you options to spread out, be alone, explore and always have a space close by to sit back and take it all in.  Multiple fire circles (3) offer opportunity for meetings of minds under starry night skies as well as provide a place to be solo or to be quiet (even when fully booked).  We really like that. 

You-Pick Campsites

Atticus Woods has just added dispersed camping of your choice as an option that is really affordable and a casual, easy site to book. These are sites listed as You-Pick and has a few things to consider. First, this option is taking advantage of the undeveloped, or less developed sites to pitch a tent so you might have a bit more work to prep your site. Its also perfect for two campers and one vehicle. You can add a few more campers but only one vehicle is allowed per You-Pick site reservation.  Also, you might not have a private cove or a campfire in your space, but you will always have the communal campfires not far away.  You-Pick sites are sometimes just a perfect little spot for a tent but lack parking. You can always park and hike to your spot, so if there is a fully booked campground, you might need to park away from your site. Honestly, the options are seemingly endless, everyone who has joined us using the You-Pick sites has really enjoyed the variety and the uniqueness of the entire process, its fun to have options! Come on up and scout out your site today!

Directions to the Campsites:

Once you arrive to the property you will first take a long driveway that curves around to the top of the hillside. Keep in mind that you will not be able to see anything upon turning up the driveway. Actually, you will not see anything until after driving through the gate located about 3/4 of the way up. You will see a home on your left and the deep canyon of the national forest on your right. There's fencing around the home that is about 2 acres. Most of this area is meant only for the home's privacy except for the circular drive in front of the home. This circular drive has a communal pure pit in the middle of it and can be enjoyed by all.  Beyond the communal fire pit, we ask that you respectfully keep a privacy boundary for the home's surrounding acreage. You will, of course, be driving through on your way to the campsites. 

Upon Arrival:

Host may or may not be available to greet. Self Check-ins are not unusual but I do suggest parking in the space labeled "parking" before traveling up the hill to the campsites. This way you can walk the area, find your spot and then feel confident driving to your space without getting stuck or feeling uncomfortable with the terrain. 

Atticus Woods campsites are located at the top of the hill to the right on the far end of the property. You will come to a sign with a bolder in front of it that says Atticus Woods Camp with an arrow pointing right.  (This is the second sign you will see, do not turn into the open gated area that you initially see directly across from the main home, this is for the vintage camper and special use listing only) Take the road past the Airstream Renovation area and the tractor barn. Finally you will come to the water holding tank on your left and the well house on your right, these markers are just before you reach the campsites. Keep following the pathway or dirt road (yes, you may drive your vehicle)to the top of the hill that will open up to a sunny clearing with a fire pit, tables, barbecues and lots of firewood. The right hand side is a communal area for all to use, first come first serve for the Weber Barbecues, as well as firewood. On your right hand side you will see campsite "A."  This is the first site and marks the beginning of the upper camping area. If you follow This pathway, you will see campsite "B", Campsite "C" as well.  The trail will end at the outdoor shower/compost toilet providing hot and cold water from our 300' deep well. Each site provides a shady respite with semi leveled ground that has been cleared with care and has a soft base of decomposed granite . A fresh water spigot is located in each site along with a small campfire ring and a string of solar lights.  All the trails have been cleared of poison oak and have been lit with solar motion detected lights to help you find your way in the dark of the night. The campgrounds look spectacular at night, they actually have a warm glow and its a blast when the different communal areas have a roaring fire and marshmallows, beverages and good conversations!

Mighty Farm & Camp

We have 155 acres of the Sierra foothills just ~12 minutes from downtown Murphys.  This is a working farm where we specialize in cut flowers and also grow a little food.  When available we offer bouquets/eggs/veggies as an add-on.  We also have plenty of firewood to scavenge or you can buy a nice stack of dry oak.

There’s the Soup Kitchen which has 3 sites listed but there are a bunch of good tent spots available.  The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen.  1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge.  Then there’s the bus and camper, which are located in the main part of our property when you pull into the driveway. This is also where the camp host can usually be found.

The 1st area to park/camp is the “Soup Kitchen” near the flower garden where you can enjoy an outdoor shower, kitchen space and established fire pit (see pics of the Soup Kitchen).  This area is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers.  We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are.  If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine. 

The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it.  The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree.  From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes.  2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug.  There are plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent.

This is the Soup Kitchen camping area.  It’s a rustic little shelter that has some solar lights, a solar panel attached to a battery that has plugins to charge phones, speaker, etc. There’s a nice fire pit for when it’s safe.

Secluded minimalist cabin

3 Bridges on Love Creek

Guests who stay here describe it as a magical experience to be on this 2.5-acre forest retreat with a year-round spring fed creek running through it. 

Camp sites are beautifully groomed pads with 6’x 8’ walk in tent cabins. Views onto Love Creek and into the lush canyon are accompanied by the sound of falling water.

An outdoor bathroom with shower is available for our guests on the property.

If needed, a storage area for your food is available.

At dusk, the artful solar lighting awakens.

 Surrounded by the vast forest acreage makes this into a unique Off-Grid Island enclave.

 Its proximity to HWY-4, just 5 paved minutes away, with a 'Day'O' coffee shop at the corner and the fantastic Red Apple bakery with its daily fresh baked goods down the road gives your off-grid experience, choices. The Arnold supermarket is a short 8-minute drive and 70+ tasting rooms with excellent restaurants and shopping just 13 minutes away in Murphys. Big Trees State Park with its wonderful Sequoia groves is a 10-minute drive. For a swim choose one of the many mountain lakes like Utica reservoir, Lake Alpine or close by White Pines Lake just 5 miles away.

We are only 1 mile from the end of the pavement and hundreds of gravel road miles. Attention mountain bikers, Jeepers and electric bicyclers.

Little Arnold A-Frame

Arnold is well-located for a weekend getaway (~2.5 hours from the East Bay and ~3 hours from SF) and as a convenient base for your adventures in the Sierras. If you haven't been to Arnold and Gold Country, there is so much to explore! 

The cabin is on a small parcel in a quiet neighborhood, removed but close to town. We're just a 5-minute walk to the Arnold Rim Trail (with 30+ miles of hiking), 10-minute drive to Big Trees State Park, 15 minutes to the town of Murphys (great wineries, pubs and dining), 40 minutes to Bear Valley Ski Resort, 10 minutes to White Pines Lake, 45 minutes to Lake Alpine. We’re happy to recommend our favorite spots for hiking and swimming. If your trip is taking you farther afield, we’re 2 hours from Yosemite, and 2.5 hours from Lake Tahoe via the less-traveled Highway 4 in warmer months. Or you can can always just relax with a view in the cabin.

Our classic 1970s A-frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers! Please note there is a 2 night minimum on weekends (if overlaps with a Fri or Sat) and a 3 night minimum for holiday weekends.

We do our best here to strike a balance between simple amenities and comfort. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway.

There is no AC, television, or microwave. We've gone without a TV and landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls on your cell. We have loads of board games and puzzles. 

The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, mini waffle iron, Brita pitcher, and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper.  Help yourself to organic coffee and tea!

The cabin is mainly heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove, but does not need wood). We recommend bringing layers and slippers in the winter while the cabin warms up. Like most cabins in the area, there is no AC, but we provide room fans. Cell reception is unreliable throughout the Sierras except for Verizon, however at the cabin, WiFi calls are available through all carriers --to make calls, enable the setting on your cell phone.

The cabin comfortably fits 4 people, with 1 bedroom, a sleeping loft (no door) and 1.5 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the loft has a full-size mattress and its own half bathroom.

We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months.

The rental rate covers a professional cleaning fee and linens and towels! Guests will need to take their garbage and recycling with them to the local refuse center which is on the way out.

Dog Woods

Come enjoy the fresh air and quiet at this relaxing and serene 3bd/1.5 bath 1968 groovy A-frame cabin. Great WIFI! Located on 1.5 wooded acres, the backyard is the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The cabin has a huge redwood deck surrounded by blooming Dogwoods during the springtime. Our year-round Moran Creek runs on the edge of the property. All wood inside: tongue-in-groove pine ceilings and walnut paneling, large wood-burning stove which has three flat places to cook. We offer a fully stocked kitchen with vintage pink and white formica counters and breakfast bar which seats four. Dining on resin-topped circular table made by designer of first chair-lift in Squaw Valley. Gigantic redwood wrap-around deck set up with comfy furniture, table and chairs to enjoy the bliss of Big Trees-Calaveras State Park. On the main floor there are two bedrooms: both with queen beds, a full bath with large bathtub/shower; in loft: one queen and one twin, and a 1/2 bath. Extra airbeds are located in the closet. Sofa is down filled. Retro decor with orange glass lamps, kilim rugs and down comforters on all beds. Vintage electric keyboard and full stereo system. Can sleep 7-8.  You can enjoy weekend dinners at Snowflake lodge or make use of the full kitchen or gas barbecue at the cabin. 35" to Bear Valley Ski Area, downhill or cross country, Lake Alpine in Summer. 20" to wine tasting in 1850's historic Murphys. So much to do or not!Overlook Trail is 1/2 mile from the cabin.  Cabin has access to Snowflake Lodge (weekend dinners), Recreation area (swimming, tennis, basketball, ping-pong, beach volleyball) and Fly-In Lake for lake-swimming.

Starry Views on Anahata Lake

Anahata Lake has peaceful dark campsites (2 ) with outstanding views of the stars.  A beautiful pond that is swimmable during the early summer season. You are welcome to use the canoe or rowboat to paddle on the pond. Hang out in the shade of the oak trees. Our hill at the back of the property has a hike with a gorgeous view of  the mtns and hills both up the Sierra and down to the central valley. On a clear day one can see some Yosemite mtns. Our garden produces delicious produce which is for sale. Ask us. 

Joyful Heart

When we moved to the Sierra Foothills, we found this cozy, little spot on the property and we set up a campsite for friends and family. 
People loved the space so much that we decided to build this cozy cabin and host other guests as well...

The hot tub can be filled with fresh water and be heated by wood and/or be filled using the on demand hot water heater. 
The private outdoor shower is in a beautiful garden setting.

The property is surrounded by many mines that have Claims in place to this day .The peaceful country views are a welcomed treat for most that that are able to visit Tuolumne county.Come by and Sit A BIT here in the Sierra foothills via your way to many adventurous spots here via Yosemite, Redwoods in Arnold, or even a day trip over the passes to Nevada s ghost town Bodie.
