Site 16 - The Overlook
Site 16 was spacious and secluded with trees for shade and a beautiful view of the river and hills. Bathrooms were clean. Site was clean. Rachael and her team were responsive and friendly. We would definitely go back again.

Gorgeous property in a Central Oak Woodland. Rolling hills, rushing river, and ability to roam around the property. Lots of cattle and baby cows to look at. Sawyer’s Bar #5 was tucked away from other sites, had decent shade, and the cleanest port a potty I’d ever seen. I’d definitely go back

We had a fantastic time. The ranch is huge, and beautiful. We were the only guests at the campsites for most of the time we were there, which was really nice. The river was moving a lot of water, but it’s spring so that’s to be expected. We didn’t catch any fish but we really enjoyed the serenity and the beauty of the environment.

Lovely little cabin in front of the river. Fun drive through the ranch past the cows to get there. Our kids loved it!

I thought the property was very pretty. Someone came and checked on us as soon as we got there to welcome us, which was nice. We almost canceled because it was going to rain, but you have to cancel a week in an advance for a full refund, which is hard to do because weather forecasts change daily. We are used to camping in higher elevations and where we were there were a lot of ticks, which was a little stressful with kids and dogs, but I am sure campers may expect this. Also, the site was a expensive. It would be nice to have more people allowed on each site, since families like to go together and there is plenty of room. We didn't even use the site we paid for. Overall, it was a good experience and we had a great time, but next time we will be headed to higher elevation and campsites that are cheaper so we can stay longer.

Cosumnes Ranch is hands down the coolest place I’ve ever camped. It’s pristine, quiet, and the campsites are spaced a good distance from each other. Hard to find places like this to camp with dogs and we are very grateful the owner’s allow it. You are completely disconnected from the modern world as there are only a few places where you can get cellphone service which is a major bonus for those trying to disconnect from it all. The porta potties are a 1 to 2 minute walk away and they are completely spotless and clean. Can’t wait to return in the summer when the water is calmer and warmer. Thank you so much!

My daughter, my dog, and I camped at site 4 for the weekend and we absolutely loved it! Tom, the owner, was friendly and informative. The flora and fauna were abundant — so many butterflies and wildflowers! The views were amazing, and unlike most camps I’ve been to, uncluttered with people and human noise. We really felt connected with nature. We both highly recommend it!

Incredible site. Close to the river, fire pit, ample space. Bring some shade to block the sun. Bathrooms close by. The hosts were so lovely and accommodating. Had an amazing time!!

Wonderful experience. Everything including the drive to the property itself was gorgeous. The site was well-maintained and comfortable, right next to the rushing river. Folks who enjoy sleeping with white noise are in for a real treat. We were completely unbothered by other campers, exactly what I was hoping for in a more private camping experience. The only other people my group saw were the one other group of campers leaving and the very kind property manager who had a friendly, brief check-in with us to introduce himself, answer any questions we had, and tell us a bit of interesting facts about the property. The trek to the site follows several connecting dirt roads, not a picnic to drive on but not difficult by any means either. Managed it in a small SUV and sedan with absolutely no issues. No cell service, however there are designated areas marked on the property with signs that you can get service at if needed. Bathrooms were within line of sight of the campsite, close enough to be convenient but far enough to be unobtrusive, and very clean. Be mindful of ticks and check your socks if you go exploring through the grass! Overall a lovely time and exactly the retreat away from overpopulated campgrounds I was hoping for.

We stayed at this campsite recently and overall had a good experience.
The spot itself is beautiful, with a really nice view and a peaceful setting. It’s definitely the kind of place you go to unwind and enjoy nature. That said, getting there was a bit of a challenge. The road is rough and, in our opinion, best suited for a 4WD vehicle, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit.
We were able to enjoy the site for about three hours before a thunderstorm rolled in. The weather turned pretty intense, so we ended up staying in our car for the entire night until morning. Not exactly what we had planned, but sometimes that’s part of the adventure.
One of the highlights, though, was the host. They were very communicative and responsive via text (iPhone satellite messaging). When we reached out asking whether we should stay put in the car, they reassured us to do whatever we felt most comfortable with. They even offered to drive up to our site and guide us safely back down, which we really appreciated. That level of care made a big difference.
All in all, it’s a lovely spot with a wonderful host. We just wish the weather had been more favorable so we could have enjoyed it more.

Beautiful campground! One of the best campsites I’ve visited thus far! The hosts were so accommodating and navigated us to the best fishing, hiking and gold panning sites. Tom checked on us daily. He also brought us a five gallon bottle of water and a grill crate just because. Really appreciated that. Safe, fun experience. Camps were well spread out and definitely not overcrowded. We will absolutely plan a return trip, hopefully this year.

We had such a great stay here. The property is absolutely beautiful, and Sawyer’s Site #1 was right on the river shore. Falling asleep to the sound of the water was a highlight.
We also had the chance to meet Tom, who came by to introduce himself. He was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Site 4 - Sawyer's Bar
As a first time HipCamper, this was an amazing first trip. The land is beautiful, open and a bit wild. We pulled into Sawyers Bar #4 with a big rig without any trouble. The roads are well maintained and level. The camp area is very clean, weed whacked and spread out. We met Tom shortly after arriving and he was so interested in our needs and comfort on the ranch. We spent 3 nights and throughout all of it Tom would pop in now and then just to check in. As we are both curious people we asked him lots of questions and he was not only full of information but gave it freely and never seemed liked we were holding him up. The Sawyers bar area is 6 sites and it was mostly young families and quiet couples. The outhouses are well positioned and well maintained. We were impressed with how nice they were. The 2 near our site even had a sink and paper towels. The river was easily accessed from many paths with one main sandy beach area for all guests to share.
We loved it and highly recommend this spot.

Just beautiful, what a wonderful little gem of a camp. We stayed at Sawyer’s Bar site 3; it was covered in wild flowers, was a huge site with many flat places to put a tent, close to the porta potties (which were always clean and didn’t smell), and was just atop a small, sandy hill right on the edge of the river. We fell asleep to the sound of the rushing water nearby. The camp manager Tom came by to greet us and check on us, he was so friendly, helpful and fun to talk to. We brought our 4 young kids and our dog, everyone had the best time! The swim hole was nearby, but the water was a bit too swift for our little ones at this time of year. Camp 2 was unoccupied and has a small inlet of calm water that the kids waded around in safely. It was a little cold the first night (upper 40s), but we bundled the kids up and they were nice and toasty the second night. No complaints at all, 10/10 would recommend!!

Cabin #2 was great, we will totally return. Plenty of space for kids to run around, play in the creek, swim in the river, fish in the ponds. The ranch is beautiful, just a great place.

Wow what an absolutely beautiful property. Rachel and Jon are very kind and helpful. We enjoyed a few hours of hiking around the property. Loved seeing so much wild life and the sweet cows that graze around the property. I can see why summer would be a more enjoyable time to visit.
We stayed in cabin # 2 and although a very beautiful spot and cabin, For the $480 for 2 nights price I was surprised there wasn’t sheets/blankets or a propane stove or bbq or some way to cook food. so make sure you bring anything necessary to cook food and linens and blankets for the bed. There is a fire pit outside but no grill or way to cook food. It does have a wood stove inside as a heat source so make sure you also bring firewood especially in the colder months.

This was our second time camping at Cosumnes River Ranch. The river is amazing. The campsites and spacious and private, and even when the weather is hot the river valley provides a shelter from the heat. Tom is a very friendly and knowledgeable host, and the porta-potties are clean!
