Check out the area of glade rock forest on the southern portion of the property but remember, this is nature! Dangers abound including high cliffs, loose and large rocks not to mention various animals including skunks and snakes among others! Hike at your own risk!
You won't find another camping area like this, 5 minutes to Calico Rock (Stores and restaurants) with so much to do and see in the area, hiking trails, Gunner Pool and Blanchard caverns, since we are surrounded by the Ozark National Forest!
Not to mention, world-class trout fishing or kayaking just 5 minutes away in the famous White River! Only 25 minutes to 2 Norfork Lake entrances, too!
We now have a nice, new clean outhouse as well as offering a generous pile of firewood for just $10! More amenities like picnic tables are coming.

About 2 miles straight from the Gilbert access, perfectly situated for any river-play for the Middle Section of the River. In Gilbert, you can find “Buffalo Camping and Canoeing Outfitters” for all of your river floating/vessel rentals. Numerous local restaurants: Big Springs Trading, Ferguson’s, CrawBilly’s, or grab some smoked ham/bacon/cheese at Coursey’s. During the season and on weekends, one can usually find live music at some of these venues. No hookup services at this time. WATER ONSITE - -Commercial PORTA-POTTY ONSITE and serviced weekly. The site is very private and peaceful in the river-backwoods, where wildlife abounds. It will be your option whether to keep the gates open or closed during your stay. Please keep in mind the site is just off a county-maintained gravel/dust road. During the dry season, the road dust could affect certain persons with breathing issues. Also, there is, a very high concentration of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds flying about.
About a mile east of the double gates, is beautiful Red Bluff Overlook, Sand Hole river-access, and further down these many dirt-roads that parallel along the river, you can get to the North Maumee access point of the Buffalo National River. Hiking trails are found at Gilbert and Tyler Bend, intersecting with other trails that lead beyond and along the river. Swimming holes can be found at:; Gilbert gravel bar 2.5 miles, Grinder’s Ferry 7.7 miles, Shine Eye 7.8 miles, Tyler Bend 11 miles, Baker Ford 11 miles, and - 4WD or AWD vehicles are HIGHLY recommended to get to the river-swim-float accesses.. Don’t forget your fishing gear for the small-mouth bass at these swimming holes! Please familiarize yourself with fishing laws and fish limits, specifically for the Buffalo River. Branson is 66 miles away, and Springfield, Missouri, is 110 mi in distance. Host is always nearby/onsite. Inverter type generators are acceptable, and please take your trash upon departure. Please do not leave trash or cans in the fire pit. Firewood available. .

We loved camping at Michelle’s land Rocky Creek Campground! The grounds were immaculate and the views were simply spectacular. From the mountains with river view, to the lake view, to the trails. Something for your eyes!!! Michelle and her husband were very nice and welcoming with us. Michelle greeted us at the entry and showed us around.
The amenities were great! We camp with a 13ft travel trailer and usually set up our own bathroom/showering tent. However we found the outhouse very charming and fell in love with the outdoor showering rooms! Very quiet and peaceful campsite. Great for star gazing. Campsites are spacious and the lake is something to behold.
We cannot wait to book again and spend more time!!!

Michelle was incredible. This is the second time I’ve been here and both have been an incredible experience. She went out of her way multiple times to make sure we had what we needed. She even took my kids to go see and pet their sheep. Highly recommended for families or even singles.

Such a pretty and peaceful place. We tent camped so I don’t know about the RV sites, but it was very easy to drive to in our non-4wd junky SUV and tiny trailer loaded with our stuff. The campsite was clean and has a little shed with fans and a solar charger we used for our phones and we cooked on our propane grill in there as well. Theres a nice fire pit with benches and a table n chairs with an umbrella and Shay had lots of firewood available. The porta potty was super clean and we just used the hose to shower with and wash dishes. Also a huuuuuge somewhat enclosed grassy area if you have dogs. Shay was more than gracious and an amazing host. I highly recommend and would return if in the area again.

Our stay at Buffalo River Hideaway was absolutely wonderful! Shay has created such a peaceful, quiet, and enjoyable place to relax in the country, while also being close to everything you’d want to explore on the Buffalo National River. With easy access to several spots on the river and Tomahawk Creek nearby, the location couldn’t be better.
One of the things we appreciated most was the convenience Shay provides for campers. The porta john allowed us to comfortably extend our stay—twice! Having potable water and a hose long enough to connect made things even easier. It’s clear that Shay has put a lot of thought into making the space functional and welcoming.
We also loved the shed with solar-powered fans, which worked perfectly as our outdoor kitchen. We set up our Blackstone griddle along with other cooking utensils and felt completely comfortable leaving them there unsecured. It was such a handy addition that made cooking easy and enjoyable.
The property itself is spacious and fenced in, which was a huge bonus for us traveling with our Chocolate Lab, Cora. She had plenty of room to run and play, and we had peace of mind knowing she was safe within the fenced area. It truly made the stay more relaxing for all of us.
Shay is a thoughtful and accommodating host, and Buffalo River Hideaway feels like a hidden gem. If you’re looking for a quiet, country getaway with all the essentials plus quick access to the Buffalo, this is the perfect spot. We will definitely be back!

Shay is a reputable and reliable host, and Buffalo River Hideaway had everything we needed for our trip to the Buffalo National River. The spot was easily accessible with our 25-foot travel trailer, and the completely fenced property gave us peace of mind with both our Chocolate Lab and our orange tabby cat.
We especially enjoyed the shed with solar-powered fans, which made a perfect outdoor kitchen for our Blackstone griddle. Shay has even provided games like checkers and horseshoes, adding a fun touch to the stay.
The location is ideal—close to several access points on the Buffalo National River and Tomahawk Creek, yet only about 45 minutes from Harrison, where you’ll find all the amenities you could possibly need.
Buffalo River Hideaway is peaceful, convenient, and thoughtfully set up. We left feeling refreshed and grateful, and we’ll definitely be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Incredible Stay at Rocky Creek Ranch!
Our stay at Rocky Creek Ranch, hosted by Michelle, was nothing short of amazing. The views of Harper’s Cove on Greer’s Ferry Lake are absolutely breathtaking — the kind that make you stop and just soak it all in.
We brought our 25-foot travel trailer and had zero issues getting in or out. The site offered plenty of space, giving us room to spread out and relax. Michelle has thought of everything for campers’ comfort: clean showers with very hot water, towels provided, and even extra touches that make the experience feel special.
One of the highlights was their beautiful man-made lake with crystal-clear water. We enjoyed the paddleboards and kayaks, and the nicely built floating dock — complete with a tiki bar-style umbrella and seating area — made for the perfect spot to unwind.
Michelle was an incredibly accommodating host, making sure we had everything we needed. We couldn’t have asked for a better camping experience and will definitely be back!

Lovely, well care for spacious property with lake view and a private pond. Easy place for campers who seek privacy to find it here. Host was welcoming upon arrival and appreciated the helpful communication. Just two miles down the road found an old boat ramp that some people continue to use and place to access the lakes shoreline.

can’t say enough great things about this campsite — it was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and completely at ease. The grounds were beautifully maintained, with plenty of space to offer both privacy and peace. Nature was all around us and a stunning view that made every sunrise and sunset feel magical.

We only stayed for a brief time but even before we got to the campsite they were so sweet and accommodating! The set up was so perfect, loved the covered area for the tent and the super convenient set up to help with grilling and dinner! Gorgeous property overlooking Greers Ferry Lake. It’s a large open space with lots of trees and you can set up wherever you like. We pulled our teardrop into a space that gave us almost total privacy, which we loved. It was quiet and peaceful. The hot water outdoor showers are amazing. Probably the nicest outdoor showers we’ve ever used. The water pressure and hot water availability was excellent, plus Michelle provided towels for folks to use, which is a really nice touch. We set up our own compostable toilet, but she does have an outhouse on property for campers to use. We would definitely be happy to go back again!
