We had an amazing stay! The hosts communicated exceptionally well and the directions were spot on, which made arrival super easy. Site #7 is an absolute gem. There are multiple flat areas perfect for a large tent setup, plus a huge open canopy that gives you incredible views of the stars at night.
It was really cool watching ducks and geese use the creek as a flyway, and there are plenty of great fishing spots nearby. The water was too cold to swim in February, but it would be amazing in the summertime—especially with the small rapids.
We would definitely stay again, especially if we could snag Site #7! Thank you, Matthew and Amanda, for a fantastic experience!

We stopped in for a night driving through to Texas. Held uo by traffic we arrived very late at 12:30 P.M. Tamie left the light on for us and had it all ready for us to roll up and pass out. Her equestrian facility is fantastic.

Private and peaceful spot right at the edge of the river. Traveled solo with a dog and felt safe and secluded. You can hear the rapids all night long. Matthew met us at the gate to drive us in since we were arriving after dark! Will come back again! Only ~12 minutes from I-40.

Absolutely beautiful, very private spot. If you need a break from the typical campground with a row of RVs lined up this is the spot. Bring everything you need with you since there isn't much nearby. The internet was spotty and eventually would send a text but nothing you can count on. I got lost finding it and had to go back to where I had internet to read the message. Which was sent the day I arrive but I was driving all day so didn't realize there was a message with directions. It would be helpful to post a picture of the gate which said "David's Place" which made me think I was in the wrong spot since the posting says Matthew & Amanda. It was a beautiful spot and a pleasure to stay!

This campsite was a dream location and site!!
I’ve stayed at Hipcamps all across the country, and this one was by far my favorite. It’s a little hidden gem—peaceful, private, and beautifully maintained. Like other reviewers mentioned, I only stayed one night while passing through on a cross-country trip, and I truly wish I could have stayed longer. The site felt incredibly safe and serene, with thoughtful touches that made it clear the host really cares. Communication from the hosts was also fantastic—responsive, kind, and helpful throughout.
The site was perfect for my dog, too, who was able to safely explore and relax, which made the stay even more special.
Huge thanks to The Melsons for sharing this amazing space—if you’re considering booking, do it. You won’t be disappointed.

This campsite is absolutely incredible—a true dream location.
We arrived after dark, but waking up to the stunning beauty of our surroundings was such a treat. I only wish we’d had more time to stay and enjoy it longer, but we were on a quick cross-country trip.
A special shoutout to Matthew for the thoughtful touch of leaving beer and firewood at the site. It was such a kind gesture and exactly what we needed after a long day on the road. Thank you!
