It was our dream to build a place of refuge for ourselves and others to share.

It's simple, rural, surrounded by the history of the old west.  We cherish no street lights and dirt roads - peaceful and serene - endless skies, beautiful mountains.  If you love the land and the high desert, you will love it here!

Open camping;  wide variety of dry camp spots; 4 spots with electric and water.  Two outdoor showers with hot water (one with sink and toilet); outdoor laundry room available (no fee).  Farm fresh eggs for sale in season.

We have a 430 square foot western style bunkhouse with living/kitchen/dining area, private bath with shower only, one bedroom with queen bed.  Kitchen is equipped with electric stove/oven, full size refrigerator, with stylized washtub as kitchen sink.  Firestick TV, mini-split heating and cooling, with linens, coffee maker, dishes/pots and pans included.

This once thriving Arabian Horse Farm is now being used for your viewing pleasure. We have views for days.... Come and enjoy some peace and quiet while taking in the Huachuca or Whetstone Mountains. Take a walk or hike through and to the Babaqumari river. Wild turkey's or a Deer to start your morning off right, or perhaps you like to bird watch? The Hummingbird Capital of the world is next door in Sierra Vista. Come a see what we are talking about and stay a night or two at the Glory Seed Ranch! Learn more about this land:We have beautiful scenic views of the Dragoon Mountains, Whetstone Mountains, Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone range Mountains and the Huachuca Mountains. You must cross the Babiqumari River to access this little gem of a horse property. There is plenty of State Parks nearby as well as state land hiking and walking available.  With wildlife galore, from deer grazing in the morning, to rabbits darting around or a turkey crossing... Maybe you will see a hummingbird, or perhaps the dozens of birds taking flight. Nearby, in Sierra Vista, is the Hummingbird capital of the world.  At night you can almost touch the stars... Peaceful and quiet! We are only 20 minutes away from Tombstone.

La Hacienda Chuparosa

When my husband and I were dating in NY we confessed our mutual desire to get back "home" to the west. It made me fall in love with him even faster. So when we married we moved to Washington DC knowing that in time we would make it west. 5 years later, when the traffic and the politics has taken its toll, we made a trip to Tucson and fell in love with this charming property that exudes all the beauty and grace of the Sonoran Desert. We looked at each other as we walked around looking at the stunning Mtn. Views and the mesquite fence and knew we were finally "home."
I've always adored the SW Hummingbirds and wanted to name the property La Hacienda Chuparosa.  When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be. 
So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

just a quick walk to the San Pedro River or a short drive to Tombstone and Bisbee.Learn more about this land:  Pitch your tent on four primitive acres and enjoy plenty of walking trails and enjoy a fire on our cool desert evenings.  Each site can accommodate 2 vehicles and 2 large tents.  The sites are surrounded by Mesquite trees (be mindful of the thorns). It's a short walk to the main house, where you will pass a herd of Alpacas to get water from our well.   Book a farm tour and learn all about the animals and why we raise them.  We love to share our love of Alpacas with everyone.  You can even take some Alpaca fiber with you by visiting our farm store.

Pineapple's Place

We have just reopened our campground January 2023.

Sleep under the trees of the mesquite bosque. Dip in our swimming hole when it's warm enough. Take a stroll down into the dry San Pedro River bed in the dry season.

 Our small homestead has dogs, cats, pigs and various small farm animals depending on the time of year. Besides our amazing bird population, we have a seasonal colony of bats on the property. Sit by the pond and watch as they whizz by to get a drink before they head out into the summer night.

The three dogs pictured will likely supervise your camp but can always be penned up if they are unwanted. 

I grew up on this property, my daughter was born here and it has been various things over the years from a small family farm to a charter school to a work trade program. Now it's our small homestead now. 

All money raised by this site is going right back into the campground, eventually a small cabin space too!

We do not live in cell service so please do not use our number as you would a mobile phone. It is a landline. The camp site is close enough to access our Wi-Fi.
