Opening March 1 for the 2025 camping season! Three years ago our multi-generational family decided to go on an adventure. We had talked about moving to the woods for years, but finally decided to turn our dreams into reality. After hiking through what felt like every property for sale over 100 acres in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we finally found the perfect spot. Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name. We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley. Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. Wonderful property with gorgeous views! Very pleased and we had the entire place to ourselves because there was no one else staying. Lots of butterflies! Kristine & Sarah were very helpful and kind. Would stay here again. I do recommend bringing a shade tent, a couple of the sites have natural shade from trees. Ours did not, we had a shade tent so it was not an issue.

We had a great time hanging out by the pond fishing and taking in all the wildflowers and butterflies! We were greeted by a big King snake on our way to the porta potty, we spooked each other and he took off but he was beautiful! Porta potty was very clean and well maintained! Sites were fully booked for Labor Day weekend but we had so much privacy, loved how secluded the sites were! I will say the pond overlook site is on an incline so be prepared for sleeping at an angle. Overall a wonderful experience!

We stayed at the cabin for two nights and really enjoyed it. It’s small and quaint, but very functional and comfortable. It had pretty much everything we needed, which was great in case we forgot to pack anything. The central heat and air were a nice surprise and made the space feel just right. The hot tub was definitely a plus—perfect for winding down in the evening. Even though the cabin is in a small town, there are still things to do nearby. Foster Falls is only about 15 minutes away and a great spot to get outside and enjoy nature. Overall, a peaceful and easy place to stay.

This place was so adorable and very very private. You can even lock the gate behind you and feel extra secure. The power went out due to an unexpected strong storm, but we still had a great time! Would totally recommend this place to anyone. The stairs are very steep to the loft, but that’s just a warning, not a complaint at all and that info is in the booking. Just minutes from the lake with fishing and a little swimming beach too. Hank’s corner and the bakery were nice to get lunch and snacks for later.

For us it was an enjoyable experience. It is located near a bike trail on TVA property that is absolutely beautiful. The campground itself was small and quaint exactly what we wanted. The host were responsive and very nice. Our camp spot was level with great connection through our Verizon provider for a hotspot. There is not a lake view here or clear access from the campground to the water. But there are several boat ramps in the area. However, we came for the bike ride and local trails. Our doodle also enjoyed the freedom and the wildlife. Check out Murphy Hill if you like horseback riding or biking while you are in the area. We will be back!

Weekend Trip to The Private Reserve Cabin + RV Pad

The amenities were great for our weekend needs. The Cabin was very clean, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen. The fire pit was the focal point for our crew of 14. We enjoyed the campfire every night. We set up our kitchen by the Weber grill, we used the grill three or four times while we were there. There were flat areas to set up tents. I was able to maneuver our 14' camper & 14' trailer in the parking lot. This location will be a frequent flyer for us!
