Our Old Family Farm is blessed with several Natural Features. Among these are Cold Water Springs, which make their way from deep underground, and a beautiful Natural Amphitheater featuring phenomenal acoustic values. Long before Europeans began to settle in North America, our Amphitheater served as an important meeting site for uncountable generations of Native American tribes. It continued to function in that capacity until sometimes around the time tribes moved to other locations. It is now with great pleasure that we have decided to open this beautiful setting to the public. We will host our Music Festival and Swap Meet on the first weekend of April 2024, Friday the 5th, Saturday the 6th, and Sunday the 7th. 

ALL GENRES OF MUSIC WELCOME!  

Murchison Farm’s Primitive Camping will host our Music Festival and Swap Meet during for the first weekend in April 2024 – Friday 5th, Saturday 6th, and Sunday 7th. 

Performances will be held in our beautiful natural Amphitheater. Any and All musicians are encouraged to come share their music in this acoustically rich setting.   If you have specific dates and times you would prefer for your performance, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can schedule your time.

Our Festival will be free to anyone who books a campsite during that weekend. There will be a small admission fee of $7/person per day for all non-campers who attend. Murchison Farm's Primitive Camping will retain $2 of the 7 and $5 will go into a pool to divide between performing musicians each day. We will take our small share to defray expenses and improve our venue.   Performing Musicians and Swap Meet Venders receive a special rate of 75% off, by using the promo code QF6NTXI1 when booking through Hipcamp.com.

Non-camping Musicians, who perform, are not charged to attend – 0 admission fee.   Although it is in the plans for us to provide electricity in the future, there is currently no electricity source available for public access. Our Natural Amphitheater is perfect for acoustic performances without additional amplification. All musicians are encouraged to bring battery powered electronics that they may need for their performances.  I have tested a small Spark Positive Grid battery powered amplifier and it works wonderfully in this setting. 

There will be a Buy/Trade/Sell- Swap Meet event also.  Bring a table and set up your booth. There will be no additional fees charged beyond the $7 per person entry fee required at the gate.

The Gospel Chimes are scheduled to perform on Friday the 5th at 3:00pm until 4:00 pm. 

Guitar Center will be on site offering music lessons.

Our Farm booth will offer a wide range of items, including antique comic books, toys, heirloom plants, used books, and the list goes on.  If you are a Sports Trading Card fan, you may want to bring some loose change - We will have an extensive inventory of High-Quality cards available and priced at 50cents each or 3 for $1.

Admission will begin at 9:00am each day. The first 100 people through the gates will receive a chance for door prizes.

Among the door prizes are included a 2002 Brilliant Uncirculated American Silver Eagle Dollar, a small package of antique comic books, an antique brown Clorox glass bottle, as well as other interesting items.

In addition, we will be providing a minimum of 3 quality guitars as prizes. 

The first item up for grabs is a brand-new Limited Edition Squier Sonic® Esquire® H.  Anyone who is interested can get one free raffle ticket. Additional

raffle tickets are priced at just $3 each.

The second item being raffled is a black Les Paul, with it's tickets priced at only $5 each. 

 One of our lucky performing Musicians will win their choice of either a Jackson JS22 Dinky Metallic Blue Solid Body Electric Guitar or Brand-new Surf Green Affinity Series Stratocaster. Each musician, who performs at our festival, will receive one chance to win for each day they perform.

In between activities guest are welcome to hike our farm roads, explore our trails, fish, and enjoy the outdoors.

Depending on the attendance and interest, possibly more musical instruments may become available for raffles or as prizes for activities yet to be announced.

We have added a new activity which includes Community Bonfires each night of the festival. The largest Bonfire is scheduled to begin around dark on Saturday.

For those who enjoy viewing the night sky and all of the beauty if offers, you will find it difficult indeed to find a better viewing venue. According to official light pollution maps, there is only one other campground east of the Mississippi River that can match our dark night skies. You may well find stars, constellations of stars, meteors streaking overhead, and views of The Milky Way that you can only find in a very limited number of places - in today's world. 

If you enjoy fishing, you might enjoy floating on one(or both) of our 2 ponds.

Fish, and wildlife also, have become active in their rush to prepare for Winter.

A little bit about our property:

This property has been in the family for multiple generations.

Our Old Family Farm has been an agricultural farm, a cattle farm, and now is a tree farm and nature preserve.

Our primitive campground offers mixture of open land, young timber, ancient hardwood, fishing ponds, spring heads, and streams. We even have a small section of swampland.

 We practice an active controlled burn program and almost always have some freshly burned areas that are fairly clean of vegetation - as well as several areas with fresh regrowth. It is not uncommon to come across Deer sheds and other interesting finds when taking a walk. 

If You love nature and are interested in Primitive camping, you can also enjoy a dark sky experience in several of our open areas. According to some our astronomer guests, our night skies are mapped as the darkest skies around, east of the Mississippi River, with the exception of one other campground located east of us. Chances are that your Children may see stars that they have never viewed before. When was the last time you stepped out into your yard, looked up, and clearly saw the Milky Way?

Apparently, we are not meeting the expectations of everyone coming to camp with us. In order to prevent further disappointment, we have added the following paragraphs.

We do have several Glamping Sites in the works and hope to have at least one of them available sometimes early next year. Currently we only have a very limited number of primitive campsites that are easily accessible by passenger cars.

 We Are A Primitive Campground. We offer only a limited number of camp sites that are developed to convenience. We have many awesome spots, but some may require a small to moderate amount of time to clean and dress up for your comfort.  A simple cutting tool, such as a machete or ax, will make short and quick work out of your campsite prep.

Murchison Farm has served in many different farming capacities, throughout generations of stewards. It's many operations have included row crops, cattle production, goat herds, horses, chicken and turkey production, as well as Tree farming. We are currently operating as a Tree Farm, Wildlife Preserve/Reserve, and Primitive Campground - in that order of priority.

If you like clear wide-open areas, you should plan your camping trip for fall, winter, spring, and early summer. Because of our intense controlled burn schedule, you will find the farmland extremely lush and full of botanical growth - during the summer months. Grass, bushes, vines, low lying tree limbs, and a variety of other plants flourish to the point that some areas of the property appear overgrown and unkept. Not much else could be further from the truth. In fact, the massive growth can largely be attributed to all of the nutrients released from the burn process. Much of the lower plant growth is consumed, from our burn activity, and easily available for new growth.

During other periods of the year, the same little area may consist largely of   bare soil spotted with new green growth.

We currently have an inventory of firewood, available for purchase. With that being said, there is an abundance of deadwood and broken limbs available around the farm, if you would like to pick it up. This includes firewood sometimes left by previous campers. Please do not cut down any living trees or shrubs.

Primitive Camping may not be for everyone! I suggest that you take the Name, into account, and do a little research into the Actual Practice. 

We offer some campsites which can be easily accessed with cars, but many may require 4-wheel drive, or low hanging branches which may scratch your vehicle.

If You are looking for an orderly and well-groomed commercial Campground, Our Primitive Campground may not be for you. 

Pitch your tent in one of our beautiful grass covered fields, secluded and private retreats, or under some ancient old trees, and enjoy access to 263 acres of pure nature. You can go fishing, swimming, hiking, or sit back and enjoy the sounds of nature on this farm out in the country.  You can even go wading in a beautiful creek.  Get off the beaten path, and maybe even turn your phone off for a couple of days... . 

Secluded, yet conveniently located near major attractions - starting within a 35-minute drive.

We offer special programs for qualifying groups, including Boy Scouts, Church Youth Groups, Family and other events. Most are very low cost or free. You are encouraged to ask about them if you are interested.

PLEASE REMEMBER, MURCHISON FARM IS A PRIVATELY OWNED CAMPGROUND. Please DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING AWAY THAT YOU DID NOT BRING IN - with the exception of any extra items you may have purchased through Hipcamp.

We have a 40 acre secluded property with a variety of camping possibilities. We have a 3 bed 2 bath fully furnished modules home  that can be rented.  We also have a 2 bed cabin available for rentals. Also have a small camp with 2- RV/ camper hookups with water and power. We have primitive tent spots in camp or private sites available also. Rates vary depending on type of camping.

HavenHill is an idyllic place to get away and enjoy nature without being too remote. You can completely rough it  by the campfire or enjoy your dinner under the pergola when available.  There is nothing like lying in the hammock under the trees with

HavenHill was part of a cotton farm at one time and the house that exist now was framed largely from the salvaged remains of log cabins on the property. After damage done by unscrupulous contractors and vandals, HavenHill is undergoing an extensive restoration. In April of 2020 HavenHill incurred tornado damage ,but is largely recovered....pics on fb HavenHill restoration.There are pear, apple, blueberry and peach trees at HavenHill, along with fig and chestnut.  It is my hope that HavenHill will become a Holiday farm where friends and families can come and create lasting memories to cherish a lifetime. Hangout in the swing or hammock  with your sweetheart.  Enjoy, the chickens, goats ,peacocks and flowers at HavenHill.Bring your bikes and set our for a day of riding. For those more adventurous you are welcome to explore the woods and find where the freshwater spring pops out of the ground, just remember to always watch for snakes!

Poor but Proud Stables

I am retired living a good life on 38 acres with my horses, mules, donkeys, a mini Zebu steer, my 2 dogs and cat.. I've had friends visit that had such a nice quiet time.. suggested I share it so others could enjoy, there will be work in progress ongoing but I've had a lot of upgrades and improvements to allow you to have a safe and enjoyable getaway..Learn more about this land:If you only need water and a place to park for your self contained camper, van or tent, this will work perfect for you.. there is a seating area in the upstairs area of the barn to enjoy watching the hummingbirds  and watching the livestock.. Or simply to enjoy the quiet, if you are traveling with your horses, you can set up your panels for no additional charge or for a few, we have stall and lots available..
