Steeped in history, Trois-Pistoles serves up urban delights in a stunning natural environment.
This small city on the St. Lawrence River is surrounded by national parks, both on and off the water. Here campers can head out on whale-watching excursions, or if lucky, view mighty blue whales from the shore. In town is a microbrewery and plenty of excellent places to grab a bite to eat, plus a municipal campsite offering views of the water. More camping options are scattered around the city, and just outside of Trois-Pistoles is the Fromagerie des Basques, an essential stop to sample homemade cheeses.
Though Trois-Pistoles is a small city that supports a population of about 3,500, some attractions and restaurants keep lesser hours (or close altogether) outside of the main June to October tourism season. Winter activities are popular with a small ski hill nearby, so snow lovers have reasons to visit year-round.
