At 180 acres Glendale Farm in Chimacum, in operation since 1857, is one of the largest single agricultural properties remaining in Jefferson County. The farm includes prime agricultural soils, over half a mile of East Chimacum Creek, and forested areas. The easement protects a buffer zone for salmon and wildlife habitat along the east fork of Chimacum Creek and protects the agricultural and forestry values of the property forever. Jefferson Land Trust and collaborative partners purchased the easement to Insure Glendale farm maintains agricultural practices and wildlife habitat forever! Please be aware this is a working farm with poultry, livestock, and the use of farm equipment providing a great experience for farm life. Glendale Farm experienced a devastating loss in 2022 when the primary residence burned down. Since then, we have been engaged in a long-term restoration effort, including extensive cleanup from an extreme hoarding situation. Please wear sturdy shoes at all times, as we are still carefully removing glass and other sharp debris from parts of the property. You may encounter old farm equipment, a few derelict RVs, and other remnants of the site's history as we continue this work. We appreciate your patience as we gradually improve the farm with future showers, a communal kitchen, gathering spaces, and enhanced landscaping. Nestled on 30 acres of lush rainforest, our property is a place we’ve fallen deeply in love with, and we’re excited to begin sharing it with others who appreciate nature as much as we do. A beautiful river winds its way through the property, creating what we think is the best swimming hole around—a perfect place to cool off on a warm summer day, relax by the water, or simply enjoy the peaceful sounds of the forest. Our campsites are intentionally simple. This is basic tent camping designed for people who want to unplug and experience nature, not a crowded campground filled with pavement and perfectly level pads. We created each campsite by working with the land instead of against it. Rather than clearing large areas or removing healthy trees, each site follows the natural topography of the forest. Because of that, every campsite is unique in its size, shape, and character. We’re also at the very beginning of an exciting journey. This property is a labor of love, and it’s constantly evolving. You’ll likely see us working on new projects during your stay as we continue to improve the land and add thoughtful amenities over time. Our dream is to eventually build treehouses, cabins, and other unique places to stay while preserving the natural beauty that makes this property so special. Because the campground is still a developing, natural property with uneven terrain, river access, ongoing projects, and limited infrastructure, we are not set up to safely accommodate children at this time. Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

The campground was really nice, and was located in a densely forested area. Most of the campsites have a lot of privacy and are not very close together. The campsite was very well maintained and raked when we arrived. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire pit. The campground has only one bathroom located near the center of the campground, so keep that in mind when you're choosing your campsite. The bathrooms were very well maintained, and had hand soap available in the sink area. There also showers in the bathroom. Shower tokens, fire wood and ice, are for sale at the state park office at the main entrance of the park. There are water spigots throughout the campground. There are also trails that lead to a stunning bluff area.
