Located on the lake near the border of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness (phew, that’s one helluva name), Josephus Lake Campground has a hiking trail leading to the wilderness and a lake-rich region before reaching the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork of the Salmon River.

Josephus Lake is too small for motorboats, but you can certainly try some smaller craft for quality time with your sweetheart.

The address to the house next door is 519 MiddleFork Rd, Garden Valley, ID 83622. That will get you to the property. The property is right after 519 it is a large open lot that leads down to the river. There is a black military vehicle parked on the very end close to the house. So there are two sections 1st is a flat section where you have plenty of room to set up tents and RVs. It is right off the road, and any car can get to the site with ease. The 2nd section is more wooded and has access to the river. You are welcome to tent camp here it is just getting an RV down there and out can be a challenge I don't recommend it. Also, the bridge across the river is the neighbors and so is the property across the river. There are roughly 4 campsites on the property but can camp where you want really. Large flat spot above the river that has access to the water. Half of the property is a flat spot for RV's and tents the 2nd half is more green, woody and has access to the river. There is a deeper spot in the river that is 3-4 feet deep and is perfect to lounge in during the hot parts of the summer. Please pack out what you pack in and keep the place nice for the next camper. There are two RV spots available as well as space for tent camping if needed. This listing is for the entire property. **NOTE: there is electric and water hookup for ONE, and sewer hookups for TWO. The power on site includes one 30 amp outlet and one 110v outlet that may also be used with the proper adapter. **We have one extension cord available for your use if needed. A few years ago, we found this slice of forested paradise—83 acres of raw, unrestricted land tucked away in Garden Valley. The property borders a 500-acre elk preserve and backs up to miles of untouched BLM and Forest Service land. It’s wild, peaceful, and full of life—everything we hoped it would be when we first walked it. While we will only be opening up this spot for a handful of days each year, this particular spot on top of the mountain we wanted to share it with others who value nature, solitude, and a special experience to remember forever. Whether you're hiking, stargazing, exploring, or simply unwinding, we hope this spot offers you the same sense of peace and perspective it gives us. We do not allow motorized vehicles to the campsite, it is a fairly short and easy hike some old logging roads. from where you park your car to the campsite, the hike is only 1.2 miles and 574 vertical feet climb to the site. These roads are well marked and we maintain them well. Campground Rules Absolutely no campfires. No wood fires, no charcoal, no tiki torches—nothing with an open flame. Fire risk here is extremely high, and we take this very seriously. A propane fire pit is provided—this is the only fire source allowed. No fireworks. Period. Not even the little ones. Fire danger is real, and safety comes first. Personal cooking gear is okay—within reason. You’re welcome to bring your own propane stove or fuel-based cooking equipment, but it must be used only in the designated cooking area. No personal firepits or open-flame devices of any kind. Bring your own water. There is no running water on site. Plan ahead and haul in what you need for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. Leave no trace. Pack it in, pack it out. That includes all trash, food, and supplies. Please leave the site better than you found it. Outhouse provided. There is a clean, rustic outhouse for your use. Please be respectful and leave it tidy for the next visitor. Pets welcome. Off-leash is fine as long as they’re friendly, under voice control, and don’t chase wildlife. Clean up after your animals. Music is cool—just not Woodstock. Feel free to enjoy your playlist, but let’s keep the forest peaceful. If it sounds like a concert, it’s too loud. Cell service: Verizon works great for us.
