Such a beautiful and well tended space! It was perfect for our needs. Great kitchen, complete with pots and pans, dishes etc. Clean bathrooms, flushing toilets and showers. Stunning view.

We loved the beautiful views as you're on top of a ridge. The night sky was incredible. Bring chairs for sitting out. There are 4 sites but it was just us when we were there. There's a kitchen cabin with cookware, showers available. You'll be staying in a large canvas tents which were very clean with 4 basic cots but they look quite new. Friendly host. Make sure you get there in the daylight. Road up to the top of the ridge is pretty steep.

The night sky view was unbelievable. Never seen a star filled sky like that, didn’t even sleep in the tents, just under the stars. The facilities were perfect for a base camp, clean showers, clean bathrooms, and a full kitchen. Our host Alan was more than accommodating. He checked in with us on our way there to make sure we were good, walked us through the camp and every facility, stocked the campfire area with firewood, and gave us all the insight on where to go in town. With only 4 sites, it’s quiet and mellow, perfect to prep for hiking the Lost Coast Trail the next day. Alan then checked in to make sure we made it back safe and sound. Couldn’t of picked a better place

Beautiful location! Over looking the forest. A fire was built for us upon arrival. Top service! Would highly recommend as a base camp or a jumping off point if you are hiking the Lost Coast

Amazing place! Would definitely come back. The view is amazing- especially if there is a great sunset. The host, Alan, was so kind and helpful. I was impressed by the bathrooms, shower, and kitchen. Wow!

Jaw-dropping views of the Lost Coast, particularly at sunrise and sunset! And oh my what a Star Show at night. The tents are airy and spacious, though we preferred our own sleeping bags and cushions to the provided US Forest Service cots. New kitchen has everything you need, showers and restrooms neat and clean. We love the location--remote, yet nicely positioned between the two areas comprising the Lost Coast--Sinkyone Wilderness State Park to the south, the King Range National Conservation Area to the north.

Wonderful stay here! The site was pretty easy to find, especially after downloading the Google map. I was greeted by the sweetest dog they have on-site, who sat with me and my pup by the fire and spent time with us on the grounds. Excellent hospitality by Alan, who was taking care of the space while Blu was off site. The tent was comfortable, I brought my own sleeping bag and pad to use on top of the cot. The weather was perfect and the stargazing at night was incredible. I would definitely come back for a longer stay and with more friends!

We are a family of 4+1 pet, stayed three nights. The camp setup itself is very nice, clean restrooms, showers, community kitchen has everything you,d need. We settled right in.
The campsite is Very scenic, the boy had a good time with his camera and lenses. Blu and host Alan make it a point to talk to all guests and are very helpful in making the stay nice and providing tips for ur stay. The owners dog guards the property from wild animals but is very nice and friendly. Drive to local hiking and food is very convenient. Some roads are unpaved, some good driving sense helps here
shade is lacking on the tent sites, although there is hammocks and firepit that are shaded. We travel with a canopy so it wasnt bad.
We,d definitely stay here again.
Finding our way to the camp in the night was easy although the signs were hard to locate, just be sure to follow the directions.
Do plan for mosquitoes, the second night there was no wind and the mosquitoes had a blast (even with repellant spray). Its that time of the year and mosquitoes are to be expected. We got lucky for the two nights there were none well past midnight.

The Lost Coast BaseCamp was WAY more than we needed from a campsite, but in no way are we upset we landed there. WHAT A FREAKING COOL SPOT! Blu, and his co-host, Alan, have created something very special at Lost Coast... a true base camp! We booked this site so we didn't have to contend with the crazy packed campgrounds in Shelter Cove so we could explore the lost coast - and we landed the best basecamp available.
There are 4 big tents with cots, a 'land yacht', a bus, and more... the site has a communal kitchen with anything you could need, fully flush toilets, and hot water shower rooms. Plus, delicious fresh spring water for drinking.
We came in our pop-up camper and were the only guests for the evening so we had free roaming access to the entire camp... all I could think about was coming back with a group of friends and creating a summer camp experience. The star-watching was incredible, too.
Alan was a gracious and friendly host and made sure we had a most excellent adventure!

Amazing location and WHAT A VIEW! Perfect for who wants stay at the Lost Coast in a unique setting. Facilities were great and clean! Also host Alan was super nice and greeted us upon arrival. Went with my 2 toddlers - would definitely also recommend for families.

A beautiful, clean site with a gorgeous view of the sunrise over the Lost Coast hills. We wanted to ensure we would have a site within a short distance from hiking and the beach and this campsite met our expectations. It was such a relief after driving through 104º heat to arrive to hammocks under the trees and have a large tent with cots already set up. Blu and Alan were great hosts, warned us about te heat and recommended a spot to cool off in the river on the way up. Definitely recommend Lost Coast Basecamp for a peaceful spot with very comfortable accommodations.

We had a wonderful stay on Blu's land! My only complaint: it was just one night, so too short. The views were amazing, and the camp extremely clean and comfortable. Communication was excellent, and we were able to find the site easily. There were clean showers and bathrooms, and a fully-equipped kitchen, as well as some whimsical touches that make the site really special. The tents were nice and sturdy, and the cots comfortable. The other tents are situated fairly close, but the night we were there, there was only one other family and there was an open site between us, so we had plenty of space and privacy. We definitely want to stay again!

We were the only ones at the site, which was beautiful and peaceful. The tents were very nice, the cots were comfortable (and apparently brand new). The kitchen, showers, and bathrooms all made for a glam-camping experience. The boat and school bus added some fun funkiness to the basecamp.
The directions we were given were not clear at all, and it took some work to find the site. Make sure you have them ahead of time, because the site does not appear on a google map search.

Our group of three women from Utah really enjoyed our stay on Blu’s land. We rolled into the spot around 4 and Blu’s sweet female dog greeted us by guiding us to our campsite. Alan gave us a tour, which included an indoor kitchen, indoor shower with hot water and great pressure, and flushing toilets. All shared between campers. The view of the coastal mountains from the campsite was incredible as well. Alan also helped us get hooked up to power so we could charge all our electronics before hitting the trail.
Next, Blu took the time to chat with us about our itinerary for hiking the Lost Coast Trail the next day. He was patient listening to our anxieties, and helped us understand how to navigate the tides while hiking the trail. He also recommended we eat at the Venezuelan restaurant in town (his wife runs the establishment) and the food was incredible. Highly recommend the empanadas.
Would 10/10 recommend as your launch spot to hike the LCT or just exploring the King Range NCA. It’s only 20 or less minutes from the Black Sands Beach Trailhead and had full service for T-Mobile, which is a rarity in the area.
Lastly, this is a family business that is 100% worth supporting. We used Blu’s shuttle service to get us to Mattole Beach and his brother was our shuttle driver. Very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable . He was also willing to look at itineraries and help folks plan for their trip. If you’re looking for a spot to stay, this is it!!!

Blu's place was awesome. Alan was our host. We enjoyed the gorgeous sunrise, the group fire pit, and the location amenities. Alan's dog, Ruka, was the sweetest, most friendly buddy. The amenities were great, with flush toilets and hot shower. Will definitely stay again. Blu was very welcoming when we arrived. Loved seeing the goats!

Site 1 at Lost Coast Basecamp exceeded our expectations. We were fortunate with the weather, and during our stay, we had the whole area to ourselves. Blu was an exceptional host, offering valuable advice. The campsite was spotless and incredibly functional. I'm already considering a return visit in 2024. Highly recommended!

This place has great potential and some fantastic features. The camp host Alan was super friendly and helpful, gave us a larger site since we were the only ones there. Our group had 3 small tents and site 5 would have been very tight . We met the owner Blu who had great hike recommendations. Flush toilets, potable water and hot showers make camping so much easier, thumbs up for all that. And it was a big win to be there the night of a meteor shower! The view and the stars were amazing because the place is on a high ridge and very exposed. If we went again we would bring a pop-up because there is no shade at the camp sites and it was surprisingly hot. It was a great place to stay for some mountain and coastal hikes.

The view was fantastic! We had a sedan and it was a little difficult getting to the sites on the bumpy dirt road but we made it. Host was fantastic and bathrooms/showers were clean. Site 1 was closed but I’d recommend site 2-4 because the view in 5 is a little obstructed by trees. Too windy for a fire but we made ourselves comfortable in the tent. We were the only ones up there during our stay.

Fantastic view! Nice/clean showers and restrooms. Friendly host (Allen). This is not your "typical" (like Forest Service) camp site, more like a base camp as its name indicates. The tent sites are directly next to one another but clearly separated by low-lying wooden beam fences, so it is more like a shared camping experience with opportunity to talk with other hikers/backpackers/travelers about their adventures; the communal fire pit and the wooden trawler (with a deck offering amazing and relaxing views) are also great for that. We enjoyed very much staying there (two nights) and hike trails in the King Range. I would suggest having a picnic table at each camp site; the table by the showers was fine but would not have be sufficient if the camp were full.
