Definitely get one of the ramada sites, which includes a wood structure, a picnic table or two, and a neat old corner fireplace. We pitched our tent outside of the ramada and used the space for eating and hanging out. Good educational info on the nature walk.

If you'll be attempting the many miles of 4WD roads in the park or the adjacent Ocotillo Wells OHV park, the Tom Harrison "San Diego Backcountry" map available at the Visitor Center is indispensable.

Take the adjacent Borego Palm Canyon hike. If you've been out primitive camping along the 4WD roads in the park's backcountry, this campground near the Visitor Center offers showers.

This campsite is very nice with new facilities ("thanks" to a flash flood a few years ago that wiped out all the old stuff). It's close to trailheads and the mountains block a lot of SoCal's light pollution for perfect night sky viewing. Perfect for someone like me that likes creature comforts.

No Cell Service at all. So download music before hand if you want a soundtrack for your stay. OH and careful not to step on cactus flowers.

Windy, only go if there was a lot of rain during the spring season to see some really nice desert blooms!

Hot and windy but there is an oasis with a waterfall at the end!
