We had a fantastic time at Raven’s Nest! The site has a lot of great amenities and we appreciated the free wood for the outdoor fire pit because it was one less thing to carry in. They had a lot of great items for sale in the yurt if you needed something like headlamps, guidebooks, etc. Definitely recommend lighting a fire inside before it gets chilly because it takes a little while to get going but between our 30 degree sleeping bags and the stove we were plenty warm. The bed was very comfortable and it was by far the cleanest yurt we’ve ever rented. Being on the platform definitely helped. Would highly recommend this tranquil spot to anyone!

Secluded Comfort in the Woods
What an incredible piece of property! Camping at the Ravens nest was such an awesome experience. We arrived to a warm tent and a few pots and pans/propane stove ready to be used. The outhouse was a short distance from the tent and exceptionally well kept for being. Well. An outhouse. The first night of our stay was considerably windy but our host checked in with us consistently to make sure all was well. All in all definitely an awesome experience and we hope to stay again!

We loved camping on Carolyn’s land. She gave very clear easy directions to find our tent. Once there the spot was super cute and clean. It was a chilly night but the tent was so cozy with the wood fire going.

Ravens Nest was perfect for a weekend getaway! The tent was cozy and the bed was super comfortable. The walk in was a breeze and the coyotes and owls sang us to sleep at night!

The perfect relaxing getaway! If you want to go camping but don't want to take the time to pack all of the camping gear, this is the perfect place. This spot has it all--we arrived to a toasty warm tent and hot water ready for tea/cocoa, a comfy bed, firewood, games, and more. Lots of hiking opportunities nearby and beautiful scenery all around. Can't wait to return!

There is nothing wrong with this spot. It wasn’t what we were looking for. The onus is on us. It’s quite secluded. We wanted easy in and out to go SUP. Anyone who wants to be in the forest and hike and enjoy the vibrational quality of the woods will really love this spot.

Carolyn was so helpful and accommodating. We had a really rainy few days and they did everything to help make sure it was as comfortable as possible. A lovely place to stay for a glamping vacation.

Great get away!! Peaceful and comfortable. The view from the bathroom is amazing too. Would love to visit in the cooler seasons. Did get very warm in the tent with the hot humid weather, but no worries, lots of refreshing swimming holes a quick drive away.

We had a fantastic time in this picturesque location. The tent was wonderful and Carolyn goes out of her way to communicate and make sure your stay is incredible. The location was easier to find than I thought (there are a few signs in addition to the directions provided) and despite the rain, we had a cozy getaway in a beautiful location. There is also a corner store ten minutes down the road with plenty of food options. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved Raven’s Nest! It was such a beautiful site and everything was perfect:) The wagon was super helpful to bring everything into the camp with us since it is a bit of a walk. We’d love to come back during the fall!

What a lovely special place the best was! Stopped here for one night on our drive back to Chicago. The tent was full of amenities and we loved just how silent and remote it felt. Be prepared for a bit of a walk back with your gear, but it was worth every step! Loved it, wish we had been able to stay longer. Thank you for making such a special spot!

Carolyn was a perfect host, and the yurt and surrounding property was idealistic! It was down pouring when we came in - it is a bit of a hike in - but the tent was already toasty warm and there was hot water for tea!! The space was warm and inviting. The best moments of our stay was sitting on the porch, drinking morning coffee, just looking at the trees sway. And!! We took home a Bernie mug! Everyone I've shown is very jealous. Thank you. I do hope we return again.

It is a beautiful location and the tent and grounds are well appointed with everything you would need. We brought a cart to help us tote our gear to the site and it proved to be super handy. The wood stove in the tent leaked smoke a bit. Over all it was beautiful and the hosts were great they even posted congratulations signs for our daughter who was graduating

We simply loved our stay. Lost in the nature, star gazing and birds in the morning. We just had hard time with the fire stove but Carolyn and Chris being very nice host, helped us alot. Would like to visit again for sure.

This stay was awesome! We stayed on a chilly weekend, and the stove kept the tent and all our stuff from freezing! Picturesque walk in, easy to find with directions, and Carolyn provided hot water! It was wonderful & we can't wait to come back, definitely for more winter glamping!

Secluded Comfort in the Woods
This was an absolutely wonderful stay and Carolyn and her family were the best hosts you could ever hope for. When my girlfriend and i arrived Carolyn had already started a fire in the stove so the tent was warm and toasty for us. The tent was also furnished with so many helpful comforts (lamps, flashlights, matches, firewood, coffee and coffeemaker, books, games, water, smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, ice chest, etc.)
The space itself was comfortable and inviting. We loved lounging in the compfy chair and rocker while the fire crackled in the wood stove. The tent was spacious and we stayed warm the whole weekend despite below freezing temps and strong winds. In fact at times the stove was so good at keeping us warm we had to open the door and let some cool air in!
The outhouse was super clean and though it had a very open and spacious design (windows but no door) i felt completely secluded and private out in nature. We didnt use the picnic tables or fire pits since the weather was so brutally cold but you could tell Carolyn had put thought and care into its construction and placement.
The whole set up was quaint and secluded. I felt truly disconnected from my busy life and able to unwind and connect with nature. Although Carolyn lives close by we were far enough into the woods that we could neither see nor hear them. I love the feeling of solitude in nature and thats exactly what i got.
I have to commend Carolyn and her husband for going above and beyond to make our stay the absolute best it could be. Around 10pm on the second night i had trouble adding wood to the stove without causing smoke to billow out when i opened the hatch. I had no trouble keeping the fire going but the tent was getting unbearably smokey. We messaged Carolyn on the walkie talkie (which they also supplied) and Carolyn and her husband were there to help within minutes. Her husband showed me how to properly operate the stove and make sure all of the coals were racked to the front when i added wood. Presto! A blazing hot stove with no smoke. They were so kind and gracious about coming to help us and reassured us that we can contact them anytime during our stay if we needed help.
Overall we had a wonderful stay and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. My only regret is that we couldnt stay longer.

This is exactly what was needed. Out there but, close. My kind of close enough, you want something, drive at least 20-30 minutes. Be prepared! Did not want to leave!

Our stay at Raven’s nest was one to remember! It was beautiful and secluded, but with help not far away if needed. Carolyn was a great host and she made sure that the tent was warm upon arrival, which was greatly appreciated after our walk. Pack lightly to make the walk easier. We will hopefully be returning soon!

Amazing! Carolyn’s property was a great escape. She provided everything we needed to get started, and the tent was so comfortable. The wood burning stove was great! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away!

Carolyn's place is an incredible escape! The yurt if very comfortable and stayed warm even in the cold (30 degree temp). They have it outfitted with all the safety equipment you might need, and are close by and accessible if any trouble would occur.
I would recommend arriving before dark as it is a short walk to the location.
Definitely the ideal place to spend a few days in nature.

My wife, dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Raven nest. The large wood burning stove really did a good job of keeping the tent decently warm during the chilly Winter weather, even when it was well below freezing. The tent was rather spacious and was very well appointed, and had more amenities than we expected. The thick air mattress was rather comfortable and very quickly pumped up if it needed a little air after a full nights use. The surrounding land was beautiful and so fun to explore; with brooks running strong. One of our best stays using Hipcamp, and a location that we really hope to return to soon!
