22 acres of Private, Magickal forest spanning the bottom valley all the way to the top of Sand Mountain. The mountain has several natural terraces and flat areas suitable for campers to choose from including a nice spot overlooking a rock garden. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs with a cave. It has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave'. The cave is great for meditation. Rejuvenating guided hikes to the cliffs & caves are available upon request. This is raw land & raw forest. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. You're welcome to bring fluffy as we've never seen any predators, but there is a slight chance there could be some around. A lost animal on the mountain could be near impossible to find. We have 2 male cats. Unfortunately, the Earth does what she wants and weather forecasts can't be relied upon. We've had sunny days that have been forecasted to rain and un-predicted downpours. It can be raining at the top or the bottom of the mountain but not at the campsites in the middle.

As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs with a few caves. Rejuvenating guided hikes to the cliffs & caves are available free upon request. The cave has a colorful collection of lichen & is great for meditation. We've names it our 'Mandala Cave'. If you enjoy bush craft, the forest provides plenty of downed material for you to build a lean-to, tee-pee, or structure of choice. Trees range from Poplar to multiple species of Oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. You're welcome to bring fluffy, as we've never seen any predators, but we have reports of foxes on the property & other predators could be around. A lost animal on the mountain could be near impossible to find. We have 2 male cats. Unfortunately, the Earth does what she wants and weather forecasts can't be relied upon. We've had sunny days that have been forecasted to rain and un-predicted downpours. It can be raining at the top or the bottom of the mountain but not at the campsites in the middle. This site has been cleared of vegetation and is fairly flat with a fire ring already made. It's about a 5 minute easy walk past our earthbag build site, where gear can be dropped off. Amenities When we are blessed with rain, we have running water in the form of small streams and waterfalls. Otherwise we have rain water for showering & cleaning. It has been lightly treated. We're less than 5 miles away from multiple grocery stores that sell water. There is also a spring at Murphy's Hollow (off the Slygo exit) that produces fresh, cold, and free water year round. We have a shower & tub with hot water that you can use. If that is further away from your campsite than you like, we can provide a black solar heated shower bags for an outdoor shower that will need to be returned. Water may not be available during the summer and droughts. Please use only bio-degradable soaps & pack out your trash. Recycling is available. Fires prohibited except in fire rings where brush has been cleared 1 ft away and after fire safety talk at check in. Any dead wood on the ground may be burned. There will be a fire safety talk upon arrival. Please don't start a forest fire. A tripod camping grill can be provided upon request but will need to be returned. You can use the bathroom anywhere, but we can also provide a portable camping potty. This place is perfect if you are looking for a 'digital detox'! While we are within range for cellular service, there is no wifi unless you bring it. Return to mother nature & become one with the life force of the universe here! There are no electrical plug ins. Parking  Parking is limited. Do everyone a favor and combine vehicles. There is room for 4 cars at the bottom of our land but there shouldn't be any problem parking on the street. There is a steep unpaved, rocky dirt road that goes up 1/3 of the mountain behind a gate. If you have 4 wheel drive, we can unlock the gate when you arrive and you can park up there. There is room for 1 vehicles there. 4 wheel drive should also be used in the lower parking area if it is wet. Near the bottom the road looks easy but it gets much steeper & rockier as you go up. If you are in a sedan you will not be driving up the road. There are big rocks and you WILL hit the bottom of your vehicle against them. We will not be held accountable for vehicle damage. If you are in a sedan we can pick you & your equipment up at the bottom & drive you up the road. Things To Do We are a few exits down the highway from the TN river where you can fish, paddle, & swim. There is also fishing in the lake inside the Cloudland Canyon State Park, which is less than 5 miles away. 8 miles away, on top of Lookout Mountain is a famous hang gliding school so you can mark that off your bucket list. Bouldering and rock climbing can be done on Lookout & Signal Mountain & Chattanooga has one of the best climbing gyms in the country. Please do not climb our cliffs, we have not tested their structural integrity, will not provide climbing gear, and will not be held accountable for injuries. While you're welcome to mountain bike on our land, we have no developed trails for it. If you want trails, we recommend going to the next mountain over, Racoon Mountain. The Racoon Mountain TVA has trails maintained by SORBA. Speaking of Racoon Mountain, there is a cave system in it much more extensive than ours. There are multiple routes and tour options including wilder cave "spelunking" that are available for a fee. There is also a wild cave to spelunk inside Cloudland Canyon. Please no hunting or rock climbing on this property. All are welcome to stay & congregate in peace on our holy land!

We had an absolutely amazing stay! The land was secluded and clean but still felt safe and comfortable. Gorgeous views and amazing scenery all around. Aron and his wife were extremely kind and helpful! Highly highly recommend.

Beautiful campsite and the hosts were extremely welcoming, friendly, and overall very easy to communicate with! Great option for camping nearby Cloudland Canyon State Park and Zahnd Wilderness Management Area. Would definitely recommend!

Camp spot is secluded and beautiful! Hosts are welcoming and helpful. The cart for hauling camping gear was awesome!! We had fun exploring the hillside and cliffs! And location is convenient to cloudland canyon. Info that would be helpful for future campers: One site is maybe 300 feet from the parking spot. The other is quite a bit further and up a steep hill. Packing light advised! The driveway up to where we parked likely requires 4WD or at minimum a raised vehicle/not low sitting sedan. You can park at the street and the host can haul you and gear up but keep that in mind.

This was an amazing experience, would highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a secluded camping area with lots of room to explore. Aron and his wife were very welcoming. They were happy to show us around and tell us about things to do in the area!

We had an amazing stay at Aron’s! It was in a perfect location near amenities but privately wooded and quiet. Property was beautiful and hosts were so accommodating. We definitely recommend Cloudland Canyon, hang gliding, and getting water from the natural spring, which were all a short drive away and the hosts gave us helpful directions. We went white water rafting on the Ocoee and stopped in Chattanooga after, which was not very far and a great day trip. Great for a weekend getaway in the beautiful mountains, would definitely stay here again!

It’s amazing just not the top campsites. They hike is far above a beginners level hike. But there is a amazing site that is only a small easy walk through the woods.

Aron and his wife were so welcoming and helpful! They showed me a of couple campsite options and had great suggestions of where to hike nearby. The campsite itself was secluded (as described) and just what a campsite should be (it had a flat area, a fire ring and perfect hammocking spaces). Thank you!

Secluded, Relaxing, Worth Exploring

Camping on the sand mountain was exactly what I was hoping for. The road up to the parking area does take some careful driving and at least All Wheel Drive but when you arrive partially up the mountain you start to understand why the hosts choose to live on the property. The views of the surrounding landscape are wonderful and get better as you move up the mountain. The hosts graciously gave me a quick tour of the different sites they have available and rightly suggested a site partially up the mountain with wonderful views of the valley below. During this tour it became clear the hosts know their property very well as they continued to point out small areas of interest among the rock gardens and along the old logging path. My dog and I spent a full day relaxing on the mountain and took a few trips up towards to the top where you find even more interesting rock formations and some vertical cliffs that rise to the very top. It is important to keep your sense of direction as you travel up the mountain as it might be easy to get turned around but the experience is very much worth it. Overall camping here gave me the secluded relaxing experience I was looking for. I would love to plan a trip back with a bigger group to explore the mountain even more and to possibly find the hidden cave I did not have time to look for. Anyone interested in non-conventional building methods will also be interested in what the hosts are working on. They have a fun project on their hands and it was fun to discuss it with them.

Very private, well kept space. There’s a cleared, flat spot for a tent next to a campfire a short walk from the car. There’s also enough room for another tent if camping with friends. The host was kind and welcoming and offers advice on nearby hiking. They also provide firewood and a cart to help carry your camping supplies. There is also very little noise aside from the occasional fox.

Hosts were very welcoming and hospitable. They helped to get our gear up to the campsite, and walked us through some of their pet projects they have been developing onsite. Very neat. Campsite was well cleared out and private. Plenty of firewood was provided, along with a cart to transport. Tripod grill came in handy. Had a great time and would gladly stay again. Listen for the occasional friendly fox :)

This was an incredible campsite! My group and I had a great time. It truly felt like we were camping in the mountains, especially with the sweetest cat and passing-by turtle who hung out with us. Aaron and his wife were amazing hosts, I cannot thank them enough. There was a wide variety of activities to do even though we were pressed on time. Aaron gave us a guided hike up the mountain and there were a ton of notable sights and cool rock formations, including one of the most badass caves I've ever seen. I highly recommend this site, whether just for a nights rest or for an extended period visit.

I had an emergency at first..asked for a refund, but they said it was to late but we atill cpuld arrive befor 9. So we did go, but then found out my car would not make it up the mountain. Was not going to leave my car at the bottom. Need to tell me aboyt the road.

We loved our stay here. Plenty of room for two couples, and it was a very private area. Exactly what we were hoping for, and our host was extremely friendly and helpful! We all highly recommend it!
