Located about an hour from Olympia, Tacoma and the Olympic National Forest. Hipcampers that stay at Island Base Camp will find themselves in a large grassy spot surrounded by evergreens and maple trees. Within 15 minutes are 3 places to launch boats, kayaks, etc., along with some beach access trails. Many hiking opportunities in the area. Berry picking and fresh apples in the summer on the property. If you are lucky, you will be greeted (and possibly herded) at some point by 2 friendly aussies that roam freely. Ducks and cats also live here. Saturday's 10-noon is a community Farmer's market at the island's community center. Don't miss Daisy Hill's cinnamon rolls, get there early. Visit the islands wildcat sanctuary, ride the rail cars at Vance creek railriders, the Ridge motorsports track is 35 minutes away. Shelton is nearest town and has so many events on weekends to enjoy. One huge event is Oysterfest. We have many car shows, great places to eat and shop in town. Our closest place to eat is Spencer Lake Grill or the Olympic Bakery. Vintage caravan · Sleeps 2 · 1 bedroom · 2 beds · 1 toilet
After a long day out enjoying the outdoors, the 24' vintage RV offers a perfect resting area, a base camp as you will. It has electricity, 2 twin beds and the dinette folds down to a larger full size bed. It is situated in the rear corner of the property and is private. Nestled amongst ferns, firs and wild birds, you can also relax in a provided hammock. Behind the trailer, find a short trail to another sitting area beneath a large cedar. A firepit with wood provided is allowable as long as there isn't a burn ban. Bring fresh picked oysters and clams from our many of our local area farms to throw on the camps BBQ. There is also a grassy area (shared by my dogs), a picnic table, a private shower room, and an outhouse. There is space enough to pitch a tent, bring a boat, jet skis etc.., A tidbit about me. I restore and sell vintage trailers. I consider my place a unique place to conect with outdoors and rejuvenate yourself. Some quick noteables-behind the trailer, find a short trail to another sitting space. Just on the other side of the fence, find my beehives. If you sit calmly out of their direct entry, you can safely watch them. I usually have lemon balm for tea or some other form of fresh herbs near cooking area, you are welcome to use in your cooking. The island boasts a seasonal array of berries. If you are a mushroom forager, let's talk chanterells. Animals on property. I have a flock of ducks. If you bring a dog, the ducks will be safely in another area. If you don't bring a pet, they will be running around. I have 2 australian shepherds. They are very friendly and love all forms of life. They are trained to stay in yard. I have 2 cats. One keeps to herself, the other will present herself if she hears a male voice. There is a map of island highlighting places to visit. There is a Saturday Farmers Market at our grange 10-12pm. Nearest restaurant is Spencer Lake bar and grill. Nearest best stocked little store is Spencer Lake store and gas. You can rent kayaks from me for additional fee as there are 2 lakes within 15 minutes. I will even haul them to/from.
