Clean, peaceful; family, but not dog, friendly

Very nice camp. Quiet & peaceful - no motors on the pond, no nearby road noise, and no motorized golf carts. Facilities are nice and clean. Seasonal campers are friendly to weekenders / transient campers. We actually really like it here… except…
My only disappointment is they are self-described ‘dog friendly’ but I would characterize it more like ‘dogs allowed with restrictions’. Basically you can’t go anywhere with a dog except your site and the roads around. The activities pavilion, the store, the fishing docks, the boat launch… you can’t even walk near them. Signs everywhere saying ‘no dogs past this point..’. If you have a dog, you can’t even see the water. Most campgrounds don’t allow dogs ON the beach. Here you can’t even go NEAR it, even though there is a fence separating the beach area. Rules state you can’t leave your dog in your RV unattended (I don’t like to anyway) and rules prevent you from going anywhere near any of the amenities. Basically you’re trapped if you have a dog. It feels like a policy to hide behind rather than deal with the problems directly.
If you don’t have a dog, this place is really great and peaceful, very family friendly, with lots of great events and amenities. But I would not recommend for folks who like to take their dog camping… basically you end up with less to do than going to Miles Standish State Park down the street.
