Looking to tend to you? Would it be to rest in nature and soak up the sounds and wonder of our wooded landscape, explore hiking trails and national and state parks, float down the Potomac, and/or visit historic sites and towns? Fern Yabin (a hard sided yurt) is nestled in a forest on a ridge (Elk Ridge) directly across from the Maryland Appalachian Trail. We are tucked down in a holler surrounded by streams, towering Poplars, wildlife and dappled sunshine. The land hosts some animals - a goat, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks while growing medicinal plants, seasonal edible berries/fruits (wineberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, mulberries, elderberries, vine kiwi, pawpaw, etc.) and rocks (plenty of them). There is a couple of acres enclosed with an electric fence where the livestock guardian dog (Luna) roams with the animals. We also sell farm fresh eggs. Fern Yabin is a rustic hard sided yurt style cabin that has hot and cold water, composting toilet, outdoor shower (cold water only), a indoor soaking tub, hot water kettle, an outdoor propane grill, ceiling fan, outdoor patio and fire pit, skylight, WiFi, and lots of character. The Yabin was a true labor of love built as a collective effort in community. There is a designated parking spot and a gravel path (moderate decline) that leads down to the Yabin. If you are a thru hiker, drop off and pick up is available for a fee. Please inquire upon booking. We are 10 minutes to the Appalachian Trail (Weverton Cliffs/Gathland SP and Crampton Gap) and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers (great for tubing/kayaking/wading/swimming). There are outdoor outfitters within 15 minutes where all kinds of wonderful adventures await including a brewery with a stunning vista of the river and area. We are 15 minutes away from historic Harpers Ferry. Antietam National Battlefield and other historic sites are within 30 minutes. For amazing dining opportunities and small city life - Frederick, MD, Boonsboro, MD, Brunswick, MD, Shepherdstown, WV and Charles Town, WV are about a 30 min drive. We are also close to several state parks in the tri state area (MD, VA, WV). There is NO AIR CONDITIONING, just cool mountain breezes, ceiling fan, screen door and windows. The Yabin showcases an open floor plan with window views of the surrounding woods. A seasonal stream runs along side the path to the Yabin. Wild and cultivated berries and fruits can be foraged. Items provided: bath towels, bed sheets, blankets, dishware, cookware, cutlery. Guests will have parking available for 2 cars where there is a little walk over a bridge and gravel path to the Yabin. The land is located on a homestead with goats, dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. There is a home located further down the driveway. If you are hiking the Appalachian Trail and need pickup and drop off that is available for a fee. Also if you are staying for a week, laundry availability can be arranged. I also offer massage at the Yabin, inquire if you would like to book a massage with me and I can text details.

We absolutely loved our short getaway at Fern Yabin! ❤️ Of all the places I’ve ever stayed, I have to say this was by far the cleanest. The bed was super comfortable, the sheets smelled amazing, and there were plenty of towels, toilet paper, and even lots of little bathtub goodies—always a win! Andrea, the owner, is close by if you need anything, but she’s super friendly and gives you plenty of privacy. We absolutely loved the hippie vibe of the place. I even enjoyed a morning of yoga and sun salutations, which was the perfect way to start the day. 🧘‍♀️🌿 My husband, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed the copious amounts of pawpaws! 😂 I’m assuming Andrea noticed, because after chatting with her, I looked over and realized my husband had pawpaw flesh ALL over his face. Apparently, he was really enjoying himself! 🤣 We definitely won’t be strangers. We’ll be back in April for morel season and can’t wait! 🍄🌿 Highly recommend Fern Yabin for a peaceful, unique, and super-clean getaway!

This was a gorgeous and calm retreat in the beautiful foothills near the Potomac. The Fern Yabin was well-appointed and comfortable, with everything needed for a cozy stay. It stayed nice and cool amongst the trees and was very private, even the nearby outdoor sitting area.

Andrea is a wonderful host. She greeted us upon arrival and explained all the features of “Fern Yabin”. The camping spot and Yurt match the description on Hip Camp. I plan on visiting again in the late fall.

This place is seriously cute. Although it was hot, the yabin is well ventilated. We had some rain that cooled things down a bit and listening to the rain with the windows open was serene. This is a great place to unplug and just spend some quality time with your person. Thanks!!

Gorgeous yurt in a food forest!

We had such an incredible time staying at the Fern Yabin! We saw dozens of butterflies and lightning bugs thanks to the beautiful forest around the yurt. Andrea was an incredible host offering lots of great intel about the area and was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend and we hope to be back again!

We loved our stay in the Yabin! It was thoughtfully cozy and gave us the feeling of being closer to nature while still enjoying some “creature comforts”. The location couldn’t be better to take advantage of some hikes around the Appalachian Trail and Harper’s Ferry. We look forward to returning in the future!

We loved our brief stay at the yabin and can’t wait to return . Andrea provided everything we could have possibly needed . She communicated clearly and sent prompt responses . Cozy, comfy, very clean space. Even more spacious and inviting than in the photos . There’s so much thought and love that have gone into this space and you can feel it . Perfect place to relax and recharge. Great location, too! It’s quiet but near tons of outdoor recreation spots

Unique accommodations!

In a nutshell, we loved the Yabin! The property is very laid-back and accessible. The cozy outside area with a fire pit and seating area is right outside the door of the Yabin. It is much bigger and more sturdy than we imagined. So much space with many nice touches. The woodstove kept everything nice and cozy overnight. The beds were so comfortable! Andrea could not be more accommodating and she is very communicative. If you decide to book, before you pack for your trip, make sure you check with Andrea. She really has thought of just about everything you will need. I can’t wait to go back!
