About Splitrock Farm and Retreat Far Away, Close to Home Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation. Splitrock Farm Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock Retreat Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 200 foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground. Granite Tabernacle
Because there had been storms in the area before our arrival, all roads were muddy and washed out and we were not able to drive to the site. We had to turn around and leave and let the host know that we're not able to drive to the actual campsite. Afterwards we requested a refund and unfortunately were not issued one by the host. We are aware the weather is not the hosts fault, but they could have let us know it's not possible to drive there with the muddy roads.

BabyOaks 24ft Geodome Glamping
We absolutely loved our stay at Split Rock Farm! Even though we went on a rainy weekend, the views were absolutely incredible and we were able to explore the whole farm. The campsites are spaced far enough apart that you get a lot of privacy but can still take a short walk/drive to the camp store and viewpoints. FYI the geodome windows have some discoloration so you cannot see clearly out of it but this didn't really bother us since we just sat outside when possible. Will definitely return with a larger group!

My favorite new space!🌲⛺️♥️
Such a lovely place. Rocks, trees, water, nature. The land is beautiful, the energy is so peaceful. Clean, private, you have enough space and privacy between camp sites. Love the guardian dogs, so sweet. The hosts are very friendly and flexible, seem happy to help. Lovely service.

Must see camping space
Split rock Farm is an absolute gem nestled between the 15 and 5 freeways making it the perfect spot for wanting to get away without having to drive so far up north. The space was expansive, the farm itself is beautiful and Ben offers everything needed to have an amazing camping experience. We were also visited by one of their Pyrenees who was just the most gentle of giants. Can’t wait to return with a few more friends to throw a larger trip, will definitely be back!

Farmhouse Airstream on 101-acres
We enjoyed our stay in the airstream. Was nice to have a real mattress and warm blankets at night, and a kitchen to cook during the day. I recommend walking a few minutes to the overlook platform for views from My San Jacinto all the way to the ocean.

Hilltop Hideout with Cozy Cavern
It was such a beautiful site to be among the caverns. It has a really nice sleeping deck with the most amazing view of the stars. It was perfect. We will definitely be coming back. And stay longer. We were not super prepared this trip but now we know what we need to make it even better for our next trip. Defenitely bring a tent and things you need to stay warm. This is not a glamping site. So defenitely plan like you would and bring stuff when you are camping. Come before it gets dark you so you can find things easily as the signs were small and hard to see. Other than that it was everything we needed.

The best experience you’ll have!
The best camping spot ever! Daniel and Ben both were amazing with us, and the camping spot is unequaled! It is really made to give the best experience you could possible have and they have a lot of cute hikes and bouldering around the place! They’re also very dog friendly, it was a first for our dog who never did off leashed before and since the place is fully fenced all around, we felt very comfortable and safe doing it! Thank you again!

The camp ground is fun and has all you need. Had plenty of space for us to roam around and make our own little spaces of rest. Love the sounds of the animals that are on the property. We are definitely coming back.

I booked this as a surprise for my anniversary for my fiancé who loves being away from people and closer to nature. It was better than I expected from the pictures, the dome is huge! We absolutely loved it. I would recommend staying during cooler temperatures as it got warm in there even after a rainy day. There is a fan and a power box you can plug things in to. Bring your own light source if you want something brighter than the led light on the box (but it was enough for us.) Daniel went above and beyond for us, and was so kind and friendly. We felt protected by the two sweetest great white Pyrenees doggos guarding the camp. They were so sweet and loving and would rest their heads in our laps. They were great with our dog too. We would absolutely recommend this site to anyone and everyone.

Farmhouse Airstream on 101-acres
Daniel made this trip for us. Came up and stayed in the new airstream site for new years. Texted Daniel because we were lost in the fog and found the site a minute later. Everytime we called, Daniel would respond and help immediately day or night. His response was "I'll be there in the next 10mins." It was pretty windy and rainy but we were cozy in the airstream. We didn't use much but everything was in the cabinets lights, blankets, dishes, and cooking utensils, bathroom supplies, etc. Definitely gonna be back to explore more of the beautiful 100 acre property. Would recommend this site if it's raining but you want to get away from the city.

The area and drive is beautiful. The campsite itself was exactly how it was described. Very private and a valley all to yourself. The rock formations were amazing as well. Will definitely be camping there again!

Great Private Location
We were greeted by Daniel as we got there. Super chill and hospitable host. Explained all the amenities that were available and even checked up on us over the stay, offering to assist with any trash etc. The property itself is amazing. With the recent rain, there were a lot more greenery than the usual campsites you'd find in the local area. The valley contained a lot of trees that makes you forget you're in Socal. There is also tons of downed trees that you can use for firewood, so much so that you don't even need to bring your own. Kids had fun running around the lower, flatter areas and climbing a bunch of rocks. I'd recommend you bring a fire grate if you plan to cook on the fire because the ring is pretty huge. The 2 dogs came by around 3pm and stayed with us for most of the evening and night. They didn't bark at all unless there were predators nearby or dig into our food unless offered by hand. They were also very friendly with the kids. We were able to take a 2wd car down by the splitrock but it had decent clearance. Overall, our whole party enjoyed the stay and will definitely consider this as an option for any future trips.

Things to consider
Overall was decent experience. However, windows were not clear and opaque. We were not able to see the views from the inside compared to pictures presented in the listing. It was a shame to pay the same price as other people and not able to experience the view :( If the view matters to you then you should wait until the owner fixes the window problem. Also portable toilet was dirty and not serviced at all.

Stonetable at The Oak Grove
Great spot for adventures
My family of 4 and dog loved camping here. The area is full of spots for adventures climbing on boulders, hiking, hide and seek, etc. The entire 101 acre property was available for exploration. The bathroom facilities were amazingly clean. The host was very friendly and even offered to pick up any items we forgot when he went to town. It rained during our trip, and the dirt roads got muddy and slippery but were still drivable in our camper van. We will definitely return. This is now one of our favorite spots.

Airstream Glamping
This was such a fun experience. The Airstream was beautiful and cozy. Hot water showers, full size toilet, comfy bed, and plenty of room to relax and de-stress. My wife and I loved hiking around the trails and being able to come back and cook a nice meal on either the kitchen stove or the BBQ that was provided. We plan on coming back again. This was a great glamping experience, and I would highly recommend it.

Hidden gem with beautiful views
The Oak Grove is truly a hidden gem! I was only there for a short overnight stay but I really wished I could have stayed longer. The sunrise is breathtaking and my dog and I enjoyed the beautiful landscape. The campsite itself is very well thought out, there is a fire pit at each of the sites and they even provide you with a bucket to safely extinguish the fire before you leave. Daniel the host was very kind to wait up for us and show us to our spot even though we had arrived very late at night. The dogs on the property are so friendly and gentle too. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Southern California.
