This 45-acre property is the original farm homestead of the Kozak family. Since 1996, the land has been stewarded and enhanced by Cheryl Cohan and Noah Erenberg and is now home to Nature On! Matlock Biodiversity Retreat and Horticultural Therapy Centre. There are 3 different listings to choose from: Deluxe Wall Tent in Forest Meadow, Bunkie in Forest Meadow, and Tent Camping in Forest Meadow. We have something for everyone, no matter the type of camper that you are! The surrounding area includes the beautiful and quaint, resort village of Dunnottar bordering along with the property: Matlock main beach on Lake Winnipeg’s southwest shore is just a three-minute walk away as is the hiking trail that meanders northward through Whytewold, Ponemah and up to Winnipeg Beach. Dunnottar Sports Courts for tennis and basketball as well as Julia’s Restaurant are a short one block to the east; Matlock General Store is a ten-minute walk to the north; many more amenities and attractions are available to explore throughout the Interlake, with lots to see and do in nearby Winnipeg Beach, Gimli, Camp Morton, Riverton, Arborg, etc. The property has many trails throughout the forest and meadow that are walkable all year round. There is a porta-potty on the property centrally located near the accommodations. There is a water hose available with cold water only. There are no showers.

This Bunkie is situated on our family property, a 45-acre nature preserve and site of the Matlock Biodynamic Retreat and Horticultural Therapy Centre. As you walk along the groomed paths through the forested meadow teeming with a diverse array of wildflowers, grasses and sedges, you will come upon a furnished small cottage with a screened porch beside a large pond. There is basic electricity. No heater. Bring your own blankets, sleeping bags, towels, sheets and pillows. The site has its own large living area and fire pit by the pond. There are several hiking trails through the forest and meadow as well as a meditative labyrinth and quiet garden sanctuary for campers to enjoy. You can fill up your water containers with artesian well water from the tap outside near the porta-pottie. Other items are also available including bagged firewood for sale. The surrounding area includes the beautiful and quaint, resort village of Dunnottar: Matlock main beach on Lake Winnipeg’s southwest shore is just a three-minute walk away as is the hiking trail that meanders northward through Matlock, Whytewold, Ponemah and up to Winnipeg Beach. Comfortable Camping !

We loved camping in Bunkie. It was located in a beautiful land with required ammenities. The places connecting it like Winnipeg beach,gimli,arborg and camp morton made the camping more fun and full of life.

Bunkie Camping!

The bunkie was so fun, I had a blast! Cheryl was so hospitable, genuine and kind. I had the best time out there! Loved the entire experience. Definitely would recommend everyone!

Beautifully peaceful and surreal.

I loved tent camping on Cheryl and Noah’s beautiful piece of land. It was very peaceful and quit exactly what was needed to get out of the hussel and bussel of the City life. The hospital was great and was always there when we had questions or needed something.

The hosts were out when I arrived but the detailed directions they provided made it easy to find the bunkie. That evening I met Noah and he explained where everything was on the property and said to let him know if I needed anything. The bunkie is quaint and comfortable and the screened outside area was great for fresh air without bugs. It was so nice to have a fire beside the pond. A path in the meadow leads to the other campsites and a cool labyrinth. The portopotty is very close as is the source of water. Matlock Beach is a lovely place and I'm so glad I checked out Julia's Place, a small restaurant around the corner. I had a wonderful time and definitely recommended this to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway.

My first experience with hipcamp and it was amazing! Cheryl and Noah were excellent hosts and were very accommodating. The meadow that we slept in was beautiful, would definitely recommend staying here!

Quiet and Relaxing

This was our second visit to Cheryl and Noah's. Camping in the bunkie is convenient and quiet. Waking up to no noise except birds and animals is a calming experience. Cheryl and Noah were very attentive via messages and our visit went off without a hitch. We plan to return again!

It was just a simple, quiet, hippie vibe kinda of uniquely cool place to stay. Nothing fancy, but so worth it. I stayed in the Bunkie for one night. Nice little building. Could open all the windows and enjoy the fresh air. Remember its camping folks. Host was super nice.

It’s the Simple Things

Cheryl and Noah are wonderful hosts. They have a great piece of property only a 5 minute walk from the beach. My wife and I are fans of the simple things. The bunkie has electricity and plenty of room for 2 people. The enclosed space served us well our first of 3 nights as the wind was very high. But when the weather was nice, you could open it up and have a breeze come through. The screened in porch was relaxing with breezes coming through as well. No TV? No problem! With the beach close by, a fire pit at every camp site and plenty of places to walk to, there are no shortages of ways to enjoy your surroundings. A quiet, relaxing getaway from the city is exactly what you’ll get here. My wife and I have already discussed returning next season as a yearly getaway. If you like the simple things, nature, bonfires, relaxation and a stress free getaway, this is a win on all levels. Thank you Cheryl and Noah. We will be back!

Deluxe Wall Tent in Forest Meadow

When we first arrived we were greeted by Cheryl and Noah, who were amazing. They were so friendly and helpful. They walked us to our tent and provided us with some ideas for activities. They checked in periodically during our stay to ensure everything was okay. Overall great stay and would highly recommend.

We loved our stay at the bunkie! It was so cute, we loved the screened room, and the trails through the land were gorgeous! A perfect location so close to the beach, super easy to follow directions, clear markings throughout, we will definitely come back and stay here again.
