As well as a lovely setting in roughly 10 acres of young woodland, it is ideally located for discovering Pembrokeshire and just a 10 minutes drive from big attractions like Picton Castle Gardens, Wild Lakes Wales and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. With views over peaceful countryside, the generously sized, flat grass pitches are sheltered by trees and spaced out for extra privacy (they’re also dotted by wild flowers in spring). You’re welcome to explore the woods, and let the children splash around in the stream. The campsite is certified by the Greener Camping Club. Spectacular beaches including Tenby, Saundersfoot and Amroth are just a 20 minute drive away.

Surrounded by acres of farmland and meadows we have 1 small spot at the top of a natural meadow. It overlooks our house and the valley beyond. It is private, but requires a walk to the toilet, there is potable water available. This is a natural meadow suitable for Wild Camping with one tent Or A second spot in a clearing overlooking a woodland - suitable for a campervan. There is no toilet or water facilities here, but you can refill water from our house further down the track. This clearing is a hard surface, and is along our track, so some traffic should expected. We are situated within easy reach of Newport Pembrokeshire and the Pembrokeshire Coast. There is plenty of local walking through woodland, moorland on the Preseli Hills and on the coast.

Near Carmarthen, South Wales. A compact and accessible wood with a balance of commercial crops, mature broadleaves, and recent planting, it is set in a sheltered location overlooking the Towy Valley with stunning views. Ffinnant Wood is a mixed woodland, partly commercial and partly broadleaf, with a steep-sided broadleaved valley, Cym yr Abbey, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The wood designations include restored ancient woodland and plantations on ancient woodlands. The SSSI designation arises as this is one of few localities in South Wales that has yielded well-preserved trilobite fossil specimens. The wood comprises a stand of mature mixed Sitka spruce and Douglas fir. These trees have been managed to put on height and volume. The area of recent (2021) coniferous clear felling and some nearby thinning yielded approximately 1,800m3, approximately 635 tonnes/ hectare, showing that this is a productive site. Following harvesting, these areas were replanted with 50/50 Sitka spruce/Douglas fir and a Sm edge of broadleaves adjacent to the B4300. It has been weeded and is growing well. A small area (c. 0.4 hectares, see map) remains to be replanted with 960 trees (Sitka spruce, 90%, oak, 5%, mixed broadleaves, 5%). RIGHTS OF WAY There are no footpaths on the property. This gives the wood an extra element of privacy. DIRECTIONS Drive east on the B4300 from Carmarthen. After 4 miles, you will pass the turn-off for the B4310. Keep on the B4300; after 800m, Ffinnant Wood is on your right-hand side, rising up the slope. There are two points of vehicular access to the wood from the B4300. For viewing, as the B4300 straightens, pull over to the right and park adjacent to the metal double gates, from there you can enter the woodland on foot. You can also enter the site through the smaller wooden gate c.l00m west.

National Trust sites, River Teifi fishing and canoeing, mountain pony trekking, Roman gold mines and blooming great gardens are in the area too. Lampeter, about three miles away, has plenty of food shops, independent stores and a farmers’ market, and the pub at Cellan, also three miles away, serves food and Sunday lunches - another romantic highlight…

You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests!

There is parking for cars or campervans, and the camping area itself is not accessible for vehicles, making it a lovely car free space with nothing but nature all around you. You will need to carry tents and equipment up to the camping area., only around 100m from the parking area. (We have a wheel barrow for you to use)We also have a small hard standing area for campervan. There is a compost loo, a washing up area, and an off grid shower shack. It is set in the most beautiful surroundings, teaming with wild life and filled with wild orchids and many different species of grasses and wildflowers. It is unique and a treat for people who love natural habitat. The sea is about two miles away where there are spectacular cliff walks for many miles on the Pembrokeshire coast path, and beautiful beaches for swimming. Bring logs and kindling with you. (Can be bought from any garage) If you bring a cool box we can top you up with frozen ice packs. Just ask. NO LOUD PARTIES Guest access Acres of land and woodland, kitchen shack, compost loo, shower hut, pond. Other things to note 40 acres of meadows, wildlife habitat and woods which guests are welcome to roam. You can walk down the track and visit the artists gallery and shop in the big blue barn.
