After a secluded stay on Anglesey? Take a peek at peaceful Pengraig Campsite. Up at the isle’s most north-western point near Church Bay, it’s about as far as you can get from the mainland without actually ditching into the sea.
With that far-flung setting comes a stunning sea view – one that can be gazed at for many hours from the comfort of your pitch (a recommended activity around sunset, with drink in one hand and a barbecue stoking implement in the other). See the sea from a different angle on the nearby Anglesey Coast Path or while strolling on the sands of one of the local beaches.
The waves aren’t the only gazing material around here – turn your back on the coast for scenic views of Mynydd Y Garn, or bring binoculars for a bit of birdwatching. Once darkness falls, direct your gaze upwards; the lack of light pollution means the stars can often put on a glittering show here.
This isn’t a place for folks seeking heaps of facilities and entertainment; the emphasis is very much on peace and nature. Low-key amenities include a drinking water supply, a chemical disposal point and a toilet block (with basins and proper flushing loos).
If you want to venture out in search of eats, pub meals and seafood suppers are five minutes’ drive away in Church Bay, and a little supermarket 15 minutes away in Cemaes.

Gwersyllfa Glyndŵr Campsite is a small, peaceful, family run and adult only site for walkers and cyclists. Located within walking distance of the historical market town of Machynlleth, we're a great base for exploring all that rural Mid West Wales has to offer. We're on the Glyndŵr National Walking Trail and the Wales Coast Path. There are many cycling trails of all levels nearby - from the Lon Las and Dyfi Bike Park to Ystwyth and Elan Trails.
A short bus ride from us are the Snowdonia National Park, Cader Idris and beautiful beaches of Cardigan Bay.
Our guests love the outdoors but like a little relaxation at the end of a day's activities, so we offer a some home comforts in the communal camping facilities barn which has a kitchenette with fridge, kettle, microwave and washing up area as well as an indoor seating area on the mezzanine level. Hot showers and toilets are available in the wet rooms also situated in the barn. You can unwind under the stars in the communal campfire area next to the camping field.
There's an outdoor sink on the camping field for cleaning muddy gear and a place to clean your bike if needed.
The nearby town offers independent shops, an art gallery and historical buildings. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, grocery shops and a petrol station where you can top up on supplies.
You'll get the best of both worlds at this secluded campsite which overlooks the Dyfi Valley's stunning scenery whilst being within stone's throw of local amenities.

Weekend Trip to The Peacock Shepherds Hut
Beautifully clean and spacious Shepard's hut, so very well themed with great attention to detail , lovely friendly hosts, loved all the animals and the view and seclusion was amazing. A good distance from the next hut, at least two full fields away, so we felt like we were the only ones there, visited the nearby town of Ruthin, which was historical, pretty and well worth a visit. Came home after two nights relaxed and very happy - very good value for money

Lovely, cosy stay while we completed a short course at CAT (which you can walk to through birdsong-filled woodland). Great communication from Megan throughout. Appreciated our boots and slippers at this time of year (March) - so recommend bringing those along!

Absolutely delightful place!! We arrived in the pitch black but found it very easily. The hut was beautifully furnished, when we woke this complemented the absolutely breathtaking views on what was a very cold winter morning but the hut was very warm and cosy. I will 100% recommend this stay and will most likely be returning for a longer stay to take in some more of the Welsh countryside.

The hut was lovely and had everything that we need for weekend getaway. The land was so peaceful and there were alpacas nearby. We arrived late a night and took the wrong turn at first but once we got on the right path it was easy to find. Would recommend if you're looking for quiet time off.

My friend and I were bonkers enough to camp here on NYE and we already can’t wait to return. Honestly the best NYE we’ve had! Everything about our stay was 5*, from booking to leaving. Sian was an absolute legend, we had the best pitch on the mountain. Absolutely stunning views. Fire pit was awesome, and the sheep were an added bonus! Lovely little collie pup came to say hi too.
Thank you for an epic new years adventure, we will definitely be back!

Linda and hubby were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The facilities were clean and modern. The directions were clear and easy to follow. We enjoyed the fire pit and listening to the owls late into the evening. Will recommend to anyone looking to visit the area, and the eggs were delicious too.

Weekend Trip to Magical Roundhouse or Train Wagon
What a gorgeous place! The perfect place for a calm refuge to reset and re-enter life restored.
Lovely kind hosts, beautiful views and walks straight from the roundhouse enjoyed by us and our cat Blue. Absolutely magical.
Such a comfortable bed, cosy lights, cooking supplies, folk takes - all you would need. Can't thank you enough!

We have just come back from a campervan 2 night trip to Panpwnton Campsite. We had a lovely time, it was very quiet as we were the only ones staying…. Probably due to the weather!
This meant we got a great spot right next to the river which was perfect.
The facilities were good. The location was great. We did a walk straight from the site on to part of Offa Dykes path and along to the Knuclas viaduct, great views along the way. We had thought we might get the train back just for fun, but they don’t run very often (would have been a 2hr wait) so walked back instead.
Site also easy walking distance to the local pub for an evening meal which was good too.
Very Dark walk back that evening meant for some great star gazing:-)

Brilliant campsite. I was camping there alone but felt very comfortable. Lovely field to camp in, beautiful views around the farm in the morning, great building to chill out in, useful facilities to store and heat food. Also loved the honesty shop with delicious pastries. Ian was very helpful with recommending local walks, and checked in throughout stay. Would love to visit again next year!

We loved our stay at smugglers cove! The pitch is very well maintained with stunning views. It’s so peaceful and the fire pit was great in the evening. Facilities are clean and well kept, lovely to have warm water for washing up. We can’t wait to come and stay again in the spring/summer. We loved it!

Panpwnton Farm is a lovely campsite. Very clean toilets and wash up facilities. I didn't use the showers as I only stayed a couple of nights, however they were spacious.
I will definitely be returning for a longer stay.
It's a lovely walk from the campsite to Knighton, alongside the river.
Trains do pass right along the side of the site but it didn't bother me or my dog. Easy access to Offa's Dyke.

Where to go
Llyn Padarn & Llyn Peris
These dual lakes showcase a gentler side to the village’s mostly mountainous surroundings, albeit with big peaks immediately above the lakeshores. The lakes form a fetching chain cutting northwest-southeast past Llanberis. Llyn Padarn hosts Padarn Country Park and the Llanberis Lake Railway, while Llyn Peris offers Dinorwig Power Station (built inside a mountain!) and Prince Llywelyn the Great’s one-time stronghold, Dolbadarn Castle. Camp in Llanberis or at Nant Peris to explore.
Snowdon & Around
Snowdon is Wales’ most popular outdoor playground—and Britain’s loftiest land south of Scotland’s Highlands. The start of the main trailhead, Llanberis also has a railway coiling up the peak. Snowdon is busy, but campers can hike slightly away from the peak to find fantastic, less-frequented mountain country. Several campsites are gathered near the main approaches to the summit.
The Glyderau
Across Llanberis Pass from the Snowdon massif is a range of even more dramatic appearance. The Glyderau, and in particular the mountain chain’s eastern peaks of Glyder Fach and Tryfan, are studded with striking rock formations with standout hillwalking and climbing. Gain access from Llanberis via Nant Peris (Old Llanberis) and from Pen-y-Pass, five miles southeast of Llanberis. Campsites on the southeast side of Llyn Peris make good bases for exploring.
When to go
Such is Llanberis’ appeal that people visit year-round. It is, however, very cold and wet for camping outside of the March to October period. (It’s still possible to find plenty else to do even when clouds obscure the mountains.) Snowdon visits between November and April also invariably entail walking across snow and ice, which should only be attempted by those with experience. Snowdon is best climbed between May and September. Every day is busy, so set off early and avoid school holidays to beat the crowds.
