Nestled between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea coast this site is situated on a working dairy and sheep farm. Farm tours can be arranged on arrival. A play hut with outdoor games, drying room with communal fridge and freezer (some units have their own small fridge). Natural hedges surround the site. Four fruit trees near the shower block
Half a mile to Gosforth village with Shop, Bakery, Cafe, 4 Pubs providing food and an Italian restaurant. Gosforth and Seascale villages have play parks.
Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Wasdale, Scafell Pike and Sandy Beaches with Cafes selling local ice cream are nearby with most Lake District attractions within an hours drive and Edinburgh a three hour drive away.
There are 5 campervan/motorhome pitches, a pod, a modern take on a shepherds hut with underfloor heating, a heated pod and two gypsy caravans with electricity to book. All pitches are on gravel positioned to enjoy views over farmland to Scafell Pike and other fells, they are surrounded by grassy areas with seating and a picnic table. A wooden play hut has outdoor games and toys inside. Awnings can be added on the 3 larger pitches. Tents can be pitched next to units for an extra £10 per night. Barbeques are allowed on gravel with our Gypsy Caravans having a campfire area. There is a communal fridge and freezer, outdoor drying space. Farm tours can be arranged. Wildlife and farm animals can be seen in the surrounding fields. Fresh vegetables and barbeque packs can be ordered with 24 to 48 hours notice. Grocery deliveries accepted from supermarkets. There is also a holiday cottage on the farm sleeping 6 over two rooms.
Situated midway between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea Coast makes this site ideal for lower or higher level walks. Sandy beaches at Seascale and St Bees have cafes selling locally made ice cream alongside play areas to keep children happy. Scafell England's highest mountain is close by as are a number of Wainwrights.
Nearby is Muncaster Castle and Gardens with its Hawk and Owl Centre, also Ravenglass (a Roman port with remains of a bath house), you can ride up the Eskdale Valley on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (Laal Ratty). Perhaps take a stroll to Stanley Ghyll waterfall. They have a cafe at both terminuses with a museum in Ravenglass where nearby you can sample Ravenglass Ice Cream. Wasdale and Ennerdale are close by both valleys having cafes and pubs.

Have already recommended this place to friends. We had a lovely stay in the sunshine. The hut is has everything you need in a compact but unsquashy space. Enjoyed some fine walks and a super day out in Ruthin. We'd also recommend the Red Lion for a visit. Ruth & Jude were both very helpful and welcoming. I'm sure we'll come back.

I had a wonderful stay in this charming shepherd’s hut nestled in a peaceful meadow. The hut was beautifully equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable and cozy getaway. The surrounding area was lovely, with fruit to pick and plenty of space for the dogs, who absolutely loved it! The hosts were fabulous—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I had a wonderful time at Ruth's Shepards hut. The hut was so cozy and a perfect location to explore the delights of North Wales. The eggs from the hens were the best I've tasted! 😍 I was travelling alone with my dog and Ruth put me right at ease and was a very welcoming host. Weekend Trip to Over-the-Moon Luxury Shepherds Hut
We absolutely loved our stay in this shepherd’s hut. The location is fantastic, with plenty of walks and nature spots nearby—perfect for outdoor lovers. The orchard garden was much larger than we expected and ideal for letting our dog roam safely off-lead.
The hut itself was impressively well equipped with everything we needed: a fully stocked kitchen, shower, toilet, sink, soft towels, various lighting options, indoor and outdoor seating, plus both a radiator and log burner for cozy evenings. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after long walks.
It was also, without a doubt, the cleanest holiday stay we’ve ever experienced. Communication with Ruth was spot on. Everything felt just right, and we enjoyed every moment. We loved it so much we’re already booking our next stay!

Weekend Trip to Over-the-Moon Luxury Shepherds Hut
We had the most wonderful stay at The Sheperd’s Hut. Ruth and Jude were truly wonderful hosts.
The location is just beautiful. Waking up to the gorgeous views, and our exploring the local forest was amazing. The sheep, chickens, and friendliest dogs made for a wonderful walk through the field.
Everything was spotless, and you could feel the work and love that had been poured in. Tea, coffee, and sugar provided, as well as all the cooking tools you could need.
The log burner was set up for us before we arrived, and we lit it on our last night. It was so toasty.
The hut was comfortable, cosy, and exactly what you need to escape to the countryside. The eggs from the chickens are a must have!
The local village was lovely too. We had the most beautiful Sunday Roast in the village. We are so grateful for the hints and tips given in the binder on arrival.

Absolutely stunning location and great hosts, they even dropped us a message to let us know the northern lights were visible that night.
It's well kept, cosy and has everything you'd need.
We will definitely be booking it again.

Where to go
Snowdonia National Park
Snowdonia National Park is dominated by craggy snow-capped peaks and Welsh-speaking mountain villages like Beddgelert, as well as glacial lakes, the Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park and its mountain biking trails, and stretches of sandy coastline, including one of the only nudist beaches in Wales. Explore on foot or horseback, by train or bike, before pitching your tent at campgrounds at the base of mountains, glamping pods near slate quarries-turned-adventure activity centres, or caravan parks near the coast.
Isle of Anglesey
Replete with glamping grounds, caravan parks, and seaview campsites, Anglesey off the coast of northwest Wales is a must-visit for lovers of adventure and the great outdoors. Not only is Anglesey home to several castles, this secluded and historical island is looped by a scenic coastal path and is the ideal place to try sea kayaking, coasteering, and surfing.
Llŷn Peninsula
Campers will be spoilt for choice on the Llŷn Peninsula—also known as Snowdon’s Arm—a scenic spot home to numerous Blue Flag beaches, surfable and sailable seas in Abersoch and Pwllheli, and charming seaside towns, as well as glamping pods, caravan parks, and sea view campsites. Go to one of the coolest pubs in the region (it’s situated quite literally on the beach!) or walk the coastal path before visiting nearby Bardsey Island, a birdwatching hotspot.
When to go
Bangor is warmer over the summer months between June and September, although this is also peak tourism season. September is a good time to visit the city if you plan to go further afield and explore but this is also when the annual university cohort arrives, and Bangor proper can therefore feel rowdier than usual. Both spring and autumn are generally quieter and pleasant (even for camping), while February welcomes the annual Bangor Music Festival.
Know before you go
- Several camping stores sit in Bangor and the surrounding areas, so don’t worry if you’ve forgotten any essential items.
- Bangor is well-connected by road and rail with other English and Welsh destinations, including Liverpool, Holyhead, Manchester, Cardiff, and even London.
- The student population in Bangor means that dining options are abundant and usually affordable.
- You can buy ferry tickets for Dublin (which depart from Holyhead) in Bangor city centre.
