Nestled between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea coast this site is situated on a working dairy and sheep farm. Farm tours can be arranged on arrival. A play hut with outdoor games, drying room with communal fridge and freezer (some units have their own small fridge). Natural hedges surround the site. Four fruit trees near the shower block
Half a mile to Gosforth village with Shop, Bakery, Cafe, 4 Pubs providing food and an Italian restaurant. Gosforth and Seascale villages have play parks.
Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Wasdale, Scafell Pike and Sandy Beaches with Cafes selling local ice cream are nearby with most Lake District attractions within an hours drive and Edinburgh a three hour drive away.
There are 5 campervan/motorhome pitches, a pod, a modern take on a shepherds hut with underfloor heating, a heated pod and two gypsy caravans with electricity to book. All pitches are on gravel positioned to enjoy views over farmland to Scafell Pike and other fells, they are surrounded by grassy areas with seating and a picnic table. A wooden play hut has outdoor games and toys inside. Awnings can be added on the 3 larger pitches. Tents can be pitched next to units for an extra £10 per night. Barbeques are allowed on gravel with our Gypsy Caravans having a campfire area. There is a communal fridge and freezer, outdoor drying space. Farm tours can be arranged. Wildlife and farm animals can be seen in the surrounding fields. Fresh vegetables and barbeque packs can be ordered with 24 to 48 hours notice. Grocery deliveries accepted from supermarkets. There is also a holiday cottage on the farm sleeping 6 over two rooms.
Situated midway between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea Coast makes this site ideal for lower or higher level walks. Sandy beaches at Seascale and St Bees have cafes selling locally made ice cream alongside play areas to keep children happy. Scafell England's highest mountain is close by as are a number of Wainwrights.
Nearby is Muncaster Castle and Gardens with its Hawk and Owl Centre, also Ravenglass (a Roman port with remains of a bath house), you can ride up the Eskdale Valley on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (Laal Ratty). Perhaps take a stroll to Stanley Ghyll waterfall. They have a cafe at both terminuses with a museum in Ravenglass where nearby you can sample Ravenglass Ice Cream. Wasdale and Ennerdale are close by both valleys having cafes and pubs.

The Peacock Shepherds Hut was amazing. The views are incredible and the hut was really comfortable and well thought out from the lovely Peacock details to underfloor heating. The facilities provided everything I needed to enjoy a peaceful break. Fantastic place to relax and reset listening to birds and enjoying the roaming peacocks and wandering down to see the Alpacas. Carol makes you feel so welcome. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends.

We really enjoyed staying at the cabin, it's in a very private woodland with a fire pit and bbq. Cabin is very comfortable but you still get a camping like "back to nature" experience.

Our stay at Over the Moon was absolutely perfect. Ruth was super friendly and gave clear instructions on how to find them, and replied quickly to any questions. The location is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. The hut had everything we needed and the bed was huge and very comfortable. We can’t wait to come stay again!

Such a hidden gem! Llwyn Onn is set in a beautiful location close to Betws-y-Coed, surrounded by fields & a majestic view of Snowdon. The sunsets were magical & we were lucky to see a meteor shower 1 night. We stayed in The Hut, which was perfect, very clean & well kept with a floor to roof glass viewing pain overlooking Snowdon, so if the weather isn’t great you can view in comfort. It was equipped with everything you need for a perfect nights sleep, we loved the comfy mattress & fluffy pillows.
warm blankets are provided. Needed for sitting around the campfire toasting marshmallows! This was our highlight along with the friendly, very cute Alpacas..Boo-boo, Ranger & Django!
A very well equipped separate kitchen making it easy to prepare food & a very clean & well kept communal bathroom area made our trip very comfortable & we can’t wait to go back! So much green space, fresh air & stunning 360 views, such a healing place. Book here & you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely as always! This was my second visit to the Shepherds Hut, and it was just as great as my first visit.
The inside was cosy, tidy and firewood bundle was a great addition for the cooler summer nights!

Have already recommended this place to friends. We had a lovely stay in the sunshine. The hut is has everything you need in a compact but unsquashy space. Enjoyed some fine walks and a super day out in Ruthin. We'd also recommend the Red Lion for a visit. Ruth & Jude were both very helpful and welcoming. I'm sure we'll come back.

This is a beautiful campsite, in a remote and peaceful location, with great amenities. We stayed in the shepherds' hut, which was extremely cosy. Ruth and Jono are friendly and welcoming, and we would both come back again and also recommend it to anyone looking for a serene campsite in a beautiful setting.

I had a wonderful stay in this charming shepherd’s hut nestled in a peaceful meadow. The hut was beautifully equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable and cozy getaway. The surrounding area was lovely, with fruit to pick and plenty of space for the dogs, who absolutely loved it! The hosts were fabulous—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommend this little gem for a relaxing countryside retreat.

1 night at The Peacock Shepherds Hut
We really enjoyed our stay here, the Shepard’s hut is great and in the perfect & private location. Hosts are very friendly and the animals on sight are a fab addition too! We would definitely stay again for a little getaway.
The only things I would point out for anyone who doesn’t know the area- it is around 15 minutes each way to the local towns/shops, but this place is in the perfect location if you want to “switch off” and be surrounded by nature.
The hut has all of the essential items, such as shower gel, hand soap, fire wood, tea & coffee and salt & pepper. However, my only suggestion is that I personally think that some local produce such as some fresh milk & eggs would go a long way and would elevate the experience massively. In saying this, everything was perfect with our stay😊

Perfect getaway for me and my daughter. The hut is perfect, everything you could need and equipped and furnished beautifully. The views are stunning and the location is within easy reach of nature reserves and forests - spoilt for choice. It was so cosy and warm in the hut with the log burner lit and the fairy lights on. What a stunning setting—waking up to glorious fields, with alpacas and peacocks roaming freely!
The shepherd’s hut was beautiful: warm, tastefully decorated, and full of home-from-home comforts. It had all the essentials we needed to make our stay comfortable and complete.
We had an amazing few days—some precious time out for my little boy, and me. A peaceful, breathtaking location… just what we needed to rest the soul.

Over The Moon is a charming shepherd’s hut, and it was an absolute delight to stay there. The accommodation is thoughtfully designed and beautifully finished to a high standard. I had a wonderful time at Ruth's Shepards hut. The hut was so cozy and a perfect location to explore the delights of North Wales. The eggs from the hens were the best I've tasted! 😍 I was travelling alone with my dog and Ruth put me right at ease and was a very welcoming host.
