A place to unwind in the heart of the countryside. Canalside walks are on your doorstep and nature is never far away - birds of prey such as red kites and buzzards are plentiful, and you may be lucky enough to see otters in the canal. There's a variety of pubs and restaurants within a short drive, and the market towns of Rugby and Market Harborough area about 20 minutes away. Unwind in the hot tub, enjoy local beers and ciders or pick from our expertly curated wine list. Our Lodges have their own fire pits and BBQs, and all fuel is provided. Each lodge has its own hammock, and a designated private fishing peg at a turning point in the canal, meaning that you'll be largely undisturbed by passing boats.

We are a family run farm situated in the beautiful Frome valley. The farm has a range of interests from the traditional Jersey milking cows to a community of workshops used by local craftsmen. The cafe serves cream teas from Easter to the end of September and pizzas are sold in evenings during the summer months. Ours is a small family run camp site with the River Frome on one side, next to the medieval buildings of Stowford Farm. The river is suitable for fishing, boating, swimming and paddling. Historic Bradford-on-Avon is only a 5 minute drive and the City of Bath 15 minutes. For those who enjoy more rural pleasures, 200 metres from the campsite Farleigh Hungerford boasts the only river swimming club in the country, and you can become an instant member for a very small fee.

The Cabin is situated on our 20 acres of land, next to our garden. It faces down the valley with scenic views and a peaceful setting. An ideal place to relax and a great base from which to explore the beautiful Dorset coast and countryside whether by foot, bicycle, horse or car. If you like wildlife you may spot deer, hares, kestrels, buzzards, barn owls and many more creatures. There is a bbq/fire pit so you can sit outside and stargaze. With no light pollution and a big expanse of sky many stars can be seen on a clear night and the sunsets here can be spectacular. We are slowly but surely making our land more nature friendly. We have sown thousands of wild flowers seeds and planted hundreds of native hedging and trees. To encourage more bird life we are planning to provide more places for them to roost and nest. There is plenty more to do but we are enjoying the journey and hope you will too. The cabin is open plan with a light and pleasant lounge space with a large sofa. A sleeping nook with french linen curtains around it contains a comfortable double bed and cozy duvet; you can lie in bed with a brew and observe the natural world from the window. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed with a fridge/freezer, two ring gas hob and combi-microwave which are perfect for light cooking. Plus a compact shower room. There is no live tv but the free streaming services are available or log into your own accounts for a quiet night in.

Stonehenge camping guide

When to go

Stonehenge is open year-round, although your visit will be at the mercy of the Salisbury weather—grey clouds and showers are common. Peak season is summer (July and August), when crowds of day-trippers flock to the ruins. Book your time slot at least six weeks in advance, and opt for an early morning or late afternoon visit to avoid the coach tour arrivals. A sunrise or sunset visit is most atmospheric, but only possible by guided tour.

Know before you go

  • Stonehenge is set along the Salisbury Plains, 90 miles southwest of London or an about 2-hour drive along the A303. To arrive by public transport, take the train from London to Salisbury, then a shuttle bus to Stonehenge.
  • Visits to Stonehenge are via timed, 30-minute tickets and include free optional shuttle buses to and from the stones (about a mile walk otherwise). General admission allows you to view the stones from the outside. To walk inside the stone circle, you'll need to book a VIP tour outside of general visiting hours. Viewing the stones from afar without a ticket is also possible.
  • The Stonehenge Visitor Centre includes restrooms, a café and gift shop, and wifi.
  • Stonehenge is an open-air site, so prepare for changeable weather. A raincoat or umbrella is recommended even in summer.
  • Stonehenge has wheelchair-accessible facilities, buses, and trails.
