Weekend Trip to Abberton Shepherds Hut

Lovely little weekend stay in this beautiful hut kitted with everything you would need. So peaceful, we loved waking up to the farm views and having a warm coffee in the cosy bed with the fire on ❤️☺️ There's lots of warm pubs with great food an easy walk away, a shop just 4 mins drink and loads to do nearby if you'd like to venture further.

We absolutely loved our stay at Jane’s shepherd’s hut. it was the perfect off-grid escape from our busy lives. The hot tub and outdoor pizza oven were definite highlights and made the trip feel extra special. Jane and her husband were incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and quick to respond whenever we had a question or needed anything. The hut is also ideally located; peaceful and secluded, yet close enough for lovely walks/run and a nearby pub for a quick pint. From the moment we arrived, Jane was absolutely incredible - so kind, welcoming, and full of helpful information about the lodge and surrounding area. She’d thought of everything, leaving clear instructions for how everything worked, which made our stay effortless and relaxing. The thoughtful touches really made it special - from the freshly baked bread to the delicious shortbread cookies, everything felt homely and made with love. The setting itself was pure peace and quiet, surrounded by nothing but cows, trees, and the soft sounds of nature. We had the best time in the Shepherd's Huts - it's such a magical place to stay, with beautiful views over the fields and even it's own little woodland walk. We spent two nights just us and our son, then my cousins pitched a tent on the third night. It was so peaceful to be surrounded by nature and have the place to ourselves. Weekend Trip to Abberton Shepherds Hut

This was a fabulous shepherds hut with every need catered for. The craftsmanship is beautiful and all the equipment and amenities were first class. Beautifully decorated and all the local and interesting information was carefully provided in an easy to access folder. The location is absolutely stunning with lots of outdoor equipment such as seating and bbq and a pizza oven to enjoy in the hot weather. The view is stunning and the surrounding countryside has great walks and places of interest. We will hopefully return.

Stayed at Dorothy and it was the perfect stay especially as we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday. We were lucky enough to have the whole area to ourselves, and the weather was beautiful. We loved the peacefulness and hearing the church bells in the distance was and added bonus. The bed was very comfortable and we adored the shepherd's hut and loved that every little detail was thought off even the spare phone chargers. Pub was a lovely surprise just how close it was and the food was exceptional

Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Wander England’s walking capital at Cotswolds AONB. Featuring 160-kilometres of Cotswold Way National Trail, campers can lookout for wildlife including hares, otters, and water voles. A well-kept secret of Cotswolds is the numerous off-road cycling trails along byways and bridleways that are inaccessible to cars. Family-friendly camping, caravanning, glamping, and holiday home rentals are available throughout the area, providing campers with electric hookups, heated pools, and restrooms. Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Meander through Mendip Hills AONB to see caves and gorges on numerous hiking trails. Over 440 km of Public Rights of Way provide a range of trails from easy-going to challenging woodland treks by a gorge. New Forest National Park

When to go

Campers enjoy staying near Cirencester year-round. While winter camping is possible, the season is long and windy with temperatures below freezing overnight.
