One of the things people love about staying here is the amazing views - including watching the moon rise over the mountains. The developing Clwydian dark sky region means there are great views of the night sky and sometimes northern lights.
You may just want to hang out and relax but there’s lots to do too!
There are lovely local forest and waterside walks, neolithic burial sites, a stone circle, Osprey, butterfly and (if you are lucky) red squirrel watching, a secret waterfall and river swimming, easy and challenging off road cycling options, access to water sports. Or if you want to use a car to help get up higher the Clwydian and Berwyn Mountains and Eryri (Snowdon) National Park are all within a half an hour drive.
If history and mooching is your thing we are just 5 miles from Ruthin - one of the oldest existing Tudor towns - boasting an historic gaol, a craft centre with regular exhibitions and a castle with a spa and peacocks.
Denbigh with its stunning castle, Corwen, Llangollen, Llyn Tegid (Bala) and the North Wales Coast are easy to reach by car. There are also options for days out using public transport including taking a steam train. Please ask - they aren't all known to Google!
The nearby village has a community run pub and shop with the Glan Llyn tafan offering food by local gastro company Sorbus. In fact there are loads of great little villages near by each with their own character and points of interest including great cafes, walks, Punjabi pub food, historic churches and sacred wells.

Coed Obry is a 5.5 acre private woodland on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. It has its own private gated access from the road and a 50m track leads from the A 4085 to a small car park for 5 vehicles. Paths lead from there to the caravan, bunkhouse, camping areas. There is a compost toilet block and sink (cold water tap) in the centre of the wood shared by all visitors. The notice board in the car park provides visitors with maps, photos and information about the wood, and there are laminated maps showing the routes of around 30 local walks which visitors are welcome to borrow during their stay. Canoe, kayaks and paddle boards are available to hire in Coed Obry and there are several fire pits with seasoned firewood for sale. There is no mains water so visitors are requested to bring their own drinking water, but rain water harvesting systems provide water for washing. Nearby there are several outstanding beaches within 1-3 miles and there is good access to the mountains of Snowdonia; the Afon Dwyryd provides an excellent sheltered river/estuary for canoeing and paddle boarding; the slate quarries and tourist attractions of Blaenau Ffestiniog, rock climbing at Tremadog (2 miles); spectacular waterfalls at Croesor (1 mile); the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway (0.5 miles); the Glaslyn Osprey Centre (1 mile); several shops, restaurants, hostelries and Spar shop in Penrhyndeudraeth (1 mile); three large supermarkets and a regional shopping centre in Porthmadog (2.5 miles).

We booked the bunkhouse for 3 of us for 3 nights, loads of space, comfy beds and great outdoor kitchen set up. Outdoor showers were lovely and warm and toilet, shower, washing up area was never too busy so it felt quiet, but there were always staff around if needed. We loved the fire pit area which was perfect for toasting marshmallows and star gazing. The location is perfect for exploring the Llyn peninsula, Porthor, Aberdaron, Abersoch, Llanbedrog and Porthdinllaen all within easy reach.

Amazing space. We stayed in a roundhouse that had a birds nest in the roof. Everything about the place was great, the kids loved it, felt the most relaxed I've felt in months just walking around the site with my 13-year-old son. Cafe is amazing, just a shame it wasnt open all week. Will be returning.

Loved the roundhouse. It was warm, peaceful, comfortable. The double bed was amazing. The bathroom was ideal with enclosed shower cubicle and compost loo. The location was a dream for peace and surrounded by nature. Everything was thought about. Would recommend a stay here.

Great place to explore from and the cafe was just perfect, serving delicious food from the farm. Shop with honesty box really useful for last minute meals at the campsite too. What an incredible place to stay. The photos don’t do the Billy Goat cabin and its little neigbour huts justice. Our kids had a blast in their own private wood, running through the pathways to the lookout and hanging out in the Wendy house and they couldn’t believe that we got to see the microlights take off right next to our base. Sally was just the most incredible and accommodating host and made us feel so welcome. We can’t wait to come back again! X

2 nights at Hollow Oak Glamping
We had an amazing stay here for 2 nights with my wife. Before arriving, I realised I made a mistake and booked the wrong date — I was actually one day late. I explained everything to the owner and she was so kind, friendly, and understanding. She told us we could still stay the full 2 nights with no extra cost, which we really appreciated.
The place itself was beautiful, very comfortable, and extremely clean. On the second day we visited the farm and honestly it was one of the best parts of the trip — we enjoyed every single minute there.
Everything about this stay was peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely love to come back again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely getaway.

Such a lovely place Megan and Benjamin have created! We loved the roundhouse, eating at the little table whilst seating on the floor. We liked it so much that we hardly went away. We used the oven to grill some burrito's and we made a bonfire outside to roast marshmellows and bake bread on a stick. We quickly got used to the compostable toilet.

Highly recommended. Very good value for money as it can sleep 8 although there were only 5 of us.
The airfield was a real bonus, watching small planes and a paramotor take off on the Monday was really memorable (too windy on the other days). The pool was a hit with the kids, we went in early April so this gave us something extra to do when it was cooler.
Plenty to do nearby, felt in the middle of nowhere but handy that supermarket within 5 mins.
Sally and Adrian were so helpful and accommodating, they were great hosts. Can’t fault it, we’d definitely go back.

Well appointed very dog friendly shepherd's hut, and we even survived Storm Dave in it!
Hut is set in its own dog-secure orchard adjacent to the chicken run and a barn. Lovely views and sunrises over Clwydian hills.
Good shower and cooking facilities. Very comfy bed. Portable heater and log burner.
Eggs from the chickens next door are excellent. 10 min drive to town, great value huge dog zoomie field a minute away, plus lots of forest walks in the area.
One of the best huts we've stayed in, and expect to return to!

Weekend Trip to Felin Uchaf Meadow Camping
This place is so unbelievably whimsical. we stayed in the roundhouse bunkhouse and it was just perfect - even through storm Dave. We woke up to the sounds of animals and the stream just outside our patio each morning and it couldn’t have been any better. The volunteers at Felin Uchaf are just amazing - they keep the place so clean and tidy and it is perfect for anyone to visit. The only thing I would add is we could’ve done with a heater/heated blanket etc as there was a storm when we was there - but that is our own problem for becoming unprepared. I will 100% be returning to this site.
