·

Penhale draws climbers for its rugged cliffs and granite outcrops, and you'll find over 110 campsites catering to those hauling ropes and chalk bags. Most sites sit within easy reach of both local crags and footpaths leading to the coast. Expect showers, pet-friendly pitches, and campfires where permitted—no need to rough it unless you want to. The average night runs about £98, but you can snag a pitch for as little as £10 if you keep an eye out. Favourites include Ryn Gwari Farm (35 reviews), where you’ll wake up to sea air and stony approaches, and The Enchanted Wilderness (28 reviews) for wild corners and woodland bivvies. The Camping Field (19 reviews) is a straightforward spot with room to spread out and easy access to the coast path. Hiking, swimming, and surfing fill the downtime between climbs, and you’ll find tidy facilities at most sites. Rubbish bins are standard—just pack out what you can and leave the cliffs as you found them.
