We are a small, friendly, family-run campsite set in the High Weald area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a perfect base from which to explore the beaches, castles, ancient woodlands and towns like Rye, Battle and Hastings. Dogwood is in the pretty village of Brede, and is walking distance from two fine country pubs. We are surrounded by stunning countryside where you can take your dog for a short stroll across the fields or go for a long romp through the woods and valleys. Or just sit and relax, listen to the birds and soak up the peace and quiet. We are fortunate to be in a 'dark sky' area, perfect for long, relaxing summer nights around the campfie, sipping hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows and spotting shooting stars! During the summer our site is a popular spot for families and campers visiting nearby Camber Sands sandy beach and year round we welcome all different types of campervan, motorhome and caravan. We look forward to welcome you to our little slice of paradise. Please note our strict 'no group' policy - we only accept single families, single couple and single campers. No more than 2 adults in any group, even on separate pitches. Please bring your acoustic guitar or similar but, as this is a quiet site, please no radios, stereos or videos unless you're using headphones. The birdsong here is incredible by the way! Very wet weather and winter – please note in the off-season, and if very wet, the camping field is closed to vehicles, replaced instead by semi-hardstanding areas or our summer car-park area. Facilities are open but please be prepared for the vagaries of the weather, leaves, puddles and mud. To change pitch please let us know asap so that we can try if possible to find you another. Apart from the car-park, pitches can get very muddy in prolonged, heavy rain. If you are not prepared for these eventualities please do not book.

1 night at Dogwood Cottage Campsite

We loved visiting Dogwood. We visited on a whim one Sunday evening in early September, needing a break from the city. We were pleased to be welcomed warmly by Phil, who was accommodating and available, despite the random timing ! We had the site to ourselves, and loved the peace and quiet - only accompanied by the animals who were roaming the site. The toilet and shower facilities were close by and clean, well maintained for the end of season, beginning of off-season. The site is well positioned and sign posted, a short walk from two pubs and a small shop, easily drivable into Rye, Hastings or Camber for whatever your stay is for!

We had a lovely time camping on Sam's land. It was great to be next to the river frome - the kids had a great time with the rubber rings and our paddleboard. The compost toilets were really well kept and the always hot showers a real luxury. Would definitely come again!

Loved this site, comfy spot, wild swimming… plenty of privacy even on peak season…best full moon and star gazing… great to be able to use fire pit and take the dog…. Everyone was lovely and respectful who we met… plenty of clean compost toilets and showers with hot water and lovely clean site… great path to the village through fields with a lush cafe…. Short drive to Durdle door and Lulworth cove although was super busy there and was glad to get back to our little camping retreat again….

The site was an absolutely perfect place for a relaxed and simple camping trip. It felt very family-friendly and safe in every respect. The site was really nice, and had great showers and loos, and other facilities in great condition and easy to find. We loved staying at Julian’s land. Everything was prefect, the tent is fully equipped, clean and tidy, furnished with excellent taste and functionality As an enclosed land we enjoyed playing free with our furry loved. We enjoyed the privacy and peace and just nature around. We had the pleasure to meet Julian, extremely kind and welcoming, he was very supportive in everything we need and more. He also shows us walking paths and local village where we found a lovely pub. We definitely recommend Julian’s Bella Tent. Thank you Julian for let us stay! Hope to come back soon.

I love the tent and beds, slept better than in my own home. The site is clean, with ample privacy from the surrounding bushes and trees. The fire pit and wood supply made me feel like a little gatherer which is a plus. Has everything you need like gas stove, pans, cutlery, foil, boardgames and books.

Weekend Trip to Dogwood Cottage Campsite

My family and I spent a night here, we absolutely loved this site. Phil was great, really friendly and cheerful, and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. I met his wife as well who had a lovely chat with my kids and introduced them to the ducks and chickens. This is a great, family run campsite that is ideal for a quiet getaway. The facilities are clean and tidy, no issues at all. We stayed during a rain storm, fortunately we remained warm and dry in our campervan. Some of the other campers introduced themselves for a chat, the site definitely has a relaxed and chilled vibe that everyone embraces! The goats and pony were in their pen when we arrived, my kids absolutely loved them! The campsite itself is small but has great amenities, we would happily come back for another relaxing break!

Set in a steep vale of the South Downs, this much-conserved town offers a picture-perfect scene. There's a winding river, a magnificent Roman Catholic cathedral and a medieval castle that overlooks a summer cricket ground where white-shirted villagers go about their game. There's a lido, a football club and a waterside café with boats for hire. And, in the surrounding countryside a smattering of good campsites too.
