Weekend Trip to Foot of the Downs
Me and my partner stayed at Skylark pod and it was very nice, lovely scenic getaway for our anniversary. The bed was comfy and the shower was very good. The only issue was there was quite a lot of dust cobwebs around so it wasn’t as clean as we expected. The sofa is also very uncomfortable. Would recommend though.

The campsite was lovely, huge with nice compost loos and you could camp anywhere. Fires were welcomed and the hot showers were great too.
However, the site wasn’t very flat, so you had to pick a good spot.
It also seems like the site is only weekends which is a lot of effort to get setup for only two nights! If we could camp for longer we’d definitely be back as we loved it!

Hook Farm was an absolutely beautiful site, surrounded by woodland and lovely walks. All of the staff were extremely helpful and we had such a memorable stay. The facilities are simple, and eco conscious which is what we were looking for. The warm showers were lovely. Thank you for hosting us!

This was such a perfect campsite for my friend and I over the bank holiday. We took the train into Hayward’s Heath and grabbed a cab outside the station (cab is about £20 each way). As others have mentioned, it’s not the flattest site but it’s easy enough to find a spot. It was so quiet and peaceful and lovely to have a fire right at our tent. In terms of nearby food, we had a great burger over at the Missing Link brewery, a quick drink at the Cat Inn and a sunny breakfast at the Pericles Cafe (all accessible on foot not that far from the site). We went on a couple big walks walked through loads of local woods and up to the Gravetye Estate and the Weir Wood Reservoir - there’s plenty of public pathways (useful to have the OS app for this) and beautiful countryside. We’ll definitely be back. Didn’t use the showers but the compost toilets were totally fine and not smelly and there was plenty of water points around.

What a wonderful place to escape the rat race! Such friendly and attentive hosts and what a beautiful, peaceful setting. Kids ran free through the woodland - building dens, getting their hands dirty, and making new friends. Yes, the pitches are sloped and compost toilets aren’t for everyone - but we love the back to basics slow living. We also appreciated the “no music” rule and how quiet the campsite got towards 10pm. Despite being the bank holiday weekend, the site was a pleasant level of business - not crowded at all. We will be back!

Great site. Lovely setup, lots of space and showers were great. Good little hut supplying wood, kindling and, most importantly, marshmallows! Toilets were well spread around and in decent condition. Would definitely recommend and would return. It’s a back to nature site but worked perfectly for a long weekend away with my 10 year old. Nice pubs nearby for dinner/lunch and easily walkable. Thoroughly recommend!

Love it. Great campsite - really friendly staff running the site. The showers were good. The scenery was stunning! Very spacious. Fun to explore with kids. Great village close by.
Only slight critique is that much of the site is on a gradient which can be slightly precarious.

Great site with freedom to choose where to pitch. Not easy to find a level pitch however there is plenty of space. Good clean showers and plenty of composting toilets around the site. For the price it was well worth it.

Lovely friendly back to basics campsite (don’t take that as a negative). Loads of space, open fires, roasted marshmallows, great star gazing and a lovely pub in walking distance (the fox).

3 nights at Foot of the Downs
If you want peace and quiet with nature, thats the spot. The "pod" was better than 5* hotel in bath. No seriously. Looked after, has everything you need. Enough space (for 2), possible 4 i would say. Needed more forewood, Angela replied within few minutes. Amazing host. If things will turn different will be coming back. Absolutely loved it.

What a beautiful find. This campsite was the quiet retreat we were looking for. Spacious with clean utilities. The birdsong from the woods in the early hours was just incredible. The scenery was stunning and the staff super friendly. Close to some wonderful pubs and some of the most stunning walks in Sussex. I’d really recommend this campsite. I took my dog too who loved the surroundings. Only thing I’d add (and only minor) might be good to split the campsite slightly and have an adults only area.
