The Shepherds Hut
Our cabin is a labor of love, blending rustic craftsmanship with cozy, whimsical design. Inside, you’ll find a warm, wood-paneled sanctuary featuring:
* The Hobbit-Style Bedroom: A unique, circular portal leads to a small double-sized nook with views directly into the trees.
* The Kitchen: Fully equipped for slow mornings, featuring a stone vessel sink, tea and coffee facilities, and cutlery.
* Forest Shower room: Step onto our stone resin floor, wash away the day under a piping hot shower, and pamper yourself with our complimentary toiletries.
The magic truly happens once you step outside into your private area:
* The Cedar Hot Tub: Soak under the stars in our wood-fired tub, tucked away in a private screened nook.
* Al Fresco Dining: Multiple outdoor seating areas, including a covered canopy for rainy-day. Fire-PIT with all BBQ cooking utensils provided.
Group Stays & Extra Guests:
Looking to share the woodland magic? For small groups, we can occasionally pitch a bell tent. This is a seasonal, non-permanent option with limited availability. Please mention your group size when enquiring so we can confirm if we can accommodate your extra guests.

Our four beautifully handcrafted yurts sit within ten acres of unspoilt organic hay and wildflower meadow surrounded by ancient woodland, thick hedgerows, a bubbling stream, a weather-led newt pond and charming little bridges. There is a lot to explore!
This untouched, undulating landscape is home to thoughtfully designed, eco-friendly facilities: composting toilets, hot copper-headed showers, fresh running chalk stream filtered water and a covered kitchen and dining area. Shaded spaces for gathering or unwinding allow you to unwind and disconnect in nature comfortably.
Each yurt has been handcrafted by ourselves and contains everything you need for a cosy stay on site. Our handmade beds have comfortable mattresses and are dressed with organic cotton or linen bedding, wool blankets and super soft pillows.
Everything here is off-grid for a low as impact to nature as possible - although a reliable 4G signal is on hand for those absolutely necessary connections ;-)

Tucked deep in the heart of the South Wales forests, Valley of the Cool Trees is a private, off-grid group campsite set within a 1.5-acre wildflower meadow on our 19-acre smallholding. Here, you are truly immersed in nature. No roads, no traffic, no other people in sight, just the gentle sounds of birdsong and the whisper of the forest around you.
The meadow offers generous space for tents, a small number of campervans, and touring caravans, with room for communal areas and group activities, all while feeling open, relaxed, and uncrowded. By day, enjoy sweeping valley views, and by night, the lack of light pollution makes it easy to spot the Milky Way overhead, creating a rare, unforgettable experience.
Facilities are all within easy walking distance and include multiple compost toilets (2 total), a solar-powered outdoor hot shower, an outdoor field kitchen, BBQ, and fire pit. For wetter weather or evening gatherings, the 50-foot sheltered polytunnel provides a cozy space to relax, chill, and stay dry. It also features an additional indoor kitchen for extra cooking space, as well as a projector for films and plug sockets for charging phones or small devices, perfect for combining comfort with nature.
The site is fully off-grid, with filtered spring water, solar-powered electricity, and fires for warmth and cooking. Everything is designed to keep the experience simple, low-impact, and deeply connected to the surrounding forest.
Valley of the Cool Trees operates seasonally from May to October and is ideal for groups seeking privacy, space, and a truly rare immersion in nature, a place to escape, unwind, and enjoy a wildflower meadow in the heart of the forest.

Ross communicated perfectly before I arrived and met me when I arrived as he did with each person that followed to camp. Clean compost toilets and a tap as promised. I wanted for nothing.
It was so stunning to be there even with the wild winds that Ross had given me ample warning about. Skies were breathtaking , views were memorable , I loved it and thank you to Ross for keeping it simple and sharing his land.

Just a perfect all round site/field. A toilet and water a few steps away from your pitch, a beautiful view of the valley wherever you are, a peaceful and the easy arrival that just felt like you found a random field in the hills. What more could you ask for.

We loved staying the night. We lucked out and we're the only people staying, so had the place to ourselves!
Lovely location for a campsite, right next to the river. Three clean compost toilets to choose from!
David was excellent, even though we didn't meet he messaged before and the morning after our stay.

Stayed here before and loved it. We camped in the woods last time, close to the river but opted for the field this time.
We love that this place is just basic. Some toilet facilities and nothing more. When we just want to get away from life, this is the place to go. We managed to catch trout last time, but this time we blanked unfortunately. Although it is close to a town, it feels as if you’re a million miles from anywhere. Look up at the stars at night and listen to the river. David is a friendly host too and usually pops by to say hi.

This was the third time staying here, it's one of our absolute favourite places to camp! The relaxed atmosphere, the no thrills environment, and real land with a river, rocks, trees, red kites flying over head, farm animals all around - it's just an absolute joy. Being able to put a hammock up is a wonderful opportunity- nothing makes the kids (or the adults, happier) than a dip in the river and then a relax in the hammock afterwards. David was especially brilliant after we had a lot of concerns about heavy rainfall, he's a very conscientious site owner!
