Tucked away on a quiet Somerset lane at the foot of the Mendip Hills, The Hemingway's Field is a fully private, fully fenced paddock available for exclusive hire — meaning the whole space is yours and yours alone.
Wake up to birdsong with Bleadon Hill as your backdrop. Take the dogs straight out from the gate, the field is completely enclosed and secure. Watch the stars from a Somerset sky with almost no light pollution. Then head out in the morning to the beach at Weston-super-Mare (4 miles), up to Crook Peak for a ridge walk (3 miles), through Cheddar Gorge, or along the traffic-free Strawberry Line trail.
Easy access for large caravans and vehicles. The gate has fit 7m caravans through it, but we have kept it at 6.5m (as it was a slight squeeze). Happy to talk about removing the gate for bigger vehicles.
Water is available on site via a hosepipe. Please note that there are no toilet facilities, so guests need to be self-contained.
This is a back-to-basics outdoor experience with one important luxury: privacy. No shared facilities. No campsite neighbours. No noise. Just your family or your group and five acres of quiet Somerset countryside.
The field sits alongside two neighbouring paddocks occasionally used by local farmers, you may spot a friendly face or two, and sometimes a horse or two as well. If any animals are in residence during your stay, we'll give you a heads-up in advance. Guests are also welcome to explore our acre of woodland, which connects to the top paddocks, a lovely spot for an early morning wander and some cool exploring.
Please also note: Grass is cut and grazed frequently; the photos here are after a while without, so the condition will be much better when the field is booked out.

Ideally located for exploring some of the Cotswolds' most beautiful destinations, we are just 20 minutes from the iconic village of Bibury, often described as one of the prettiest villages in England. Historic Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds, is nearby, while the market towns of Fairford, Lechlade and Burford are all within easy reach. The beautiful Cotswold Lakes are close by, offering watersports, nature reserves, lakeside walks, cycling routes and opportunities for swimming.
The village pub is just a five-minute walk from the campsite and is renowned for its excellent food and warm welcome (booking is strongly recommended, especially during weekends and holidays).
Guests have access to shared facilities including a fully equipped kitchen, hot showers and flushing toilets, providing comfort while preserving the traditional camping experience.
Our secluded camping field enjoys magnificent golden sunsets across the surrounding countryside and exceptionally dark skies, making it an ideal location for stargazing on clear evenings. Away from major roads and urban lighting, you can relax beside your tent and enjoy the stars, the sounds of nature and the peaceful atmosphere of rural Gloucestershire.

Cwmwye Camping is a small greener camping club site based just outside builth wells. The River Wye is only a short walk from the campsite where you will find the wye valley walk that runs north to south. On site we have communal fire pit, washing up area,gas shower and two compost toilets. Price of pitch includes firewood for fire pit.
We have lots of lovely walks around us and cycling routes including cycling route 8 which goes right passed the campsite entrance.
We are a greener camping site and it is £12 for membership which can be organised on arrival. Only one person needs to be a member with in you're group.

The whole site has been designed to allow you to disconnect from the outside world and technology, to slow down and enjoy taking some time to connect with nature, yourself, and others in your group.

A lovely space, very peaceful and quiet yet conveniently 10 minutes away from Weston Super Mare.
Enclosed field where we could switch off and unwind, great for our dogs to mooch around freely as well.
A couple of mown areas to camp and a mown path around field would’ve been appreciated as grass really quite long at the time of our visit, weren’t able to stroll around easily.
The neighbouring horses were very sweet.
Would stay again, thank you ☺️

This campsite is beautiful! We were a group of 11 and stayed in the woodland next to the river. The woodland was so cool during a very hot weekend and having the option to just have a sit down in the river was a game changer (the river itself is super clean and seems very healthy!). David is also a lovely host ☺️ we will definitely be coming back!

David was a fabulous and friendly host. We had a lovely pitch and the site was just right for its proximity to Pen Y Fan which was one of the reasons we picked this site.
The site was great for our dog who loved the water and freedom of having some off lead adventures. David is very easy going and as long as they're not a nuisance it's fine. We loved saying hello to George the horse and he had some little treats from us.
Overall a great experience however if I were to be at all critical there's only one thing .. Another few campers arrived the following day and set up their tents right in front of the toilet area making it a little awkward for us as we then had to navigate around their camp to use it. The site instructions do ask politely for campers to keep the area around the toilet accessible... but I know not everyone follows those..
I think the toilet could do with a little bit of TLC as the door is a little worn out .. also it was a bit messy in there on our arrival so I did have to have a little tidy up
Overall though a great little wild camping site where you can enjoy camp fires and the tranquility and listening to the sound of the water.. we would stay here again.

One night at Pytingwyn Woods wasnt enough. I originally selected David's site for its ability to handle hammocks without searching too hard for a suitable trees, plus George the resident horse was very friendly even to the 1yo we had with us.
The river below our pitch was clear and easy to access if trout fishing is your thing or even cooling down after the hot weather we've had. David, while I never crossed paths for my stay, had left a message stating what to expect and the basics. Will most definitely be booking another stay for longer

Holy moly, I can't believe how stunning this place is and how cheap for the exclusive use! We absolutely loved our stay here, beauty & wild nature all around, no other annoying campers disturbing our peace, totally perfect. The compost loo was clean and had a lovely view like everywhere else at our spot. Plenty of pretty stony streams not far away to have a wash which I much prefer to showers any day! So quiet, not even the distant rumble of any roads, just lots of lovely birdsong, the breeze and the gentle fluttering of the many butterflies' wings in our meadow-with-a-view. Felt like a real privilege to be there. We'll definitely be back. Thanks Ryan & family for our wonderful weekend getaway ❤️😊
