When it’s a ‘proper’ Suffolk wild-camping adventure you’re after, have a look at Lions Row, a spacious back‑to‑basics site on a working farm just outside Ufford. It’s completely surrounded by countryside, but only a handy five minutes’ drive from the pubs, takeaways and shops in Wickham Market.
You'll park at the edge of a three-acre meadow and walk around 50–250 yards to the pitches, which are mown into the long grass. It’s a clever spot for families as it’s a mile from the nearest road, making it quiet and safe for kids to roam freely without any danger from traffic.
As this is wild camping, facilities are minimal: drinking water, a simple washing-up sink, compost loos and basic gas-heated outdoor showers are your lot. However, you’ll wake up to birdsong every morning and go to sleep by starlight on clear nights; just remember to bring torches and batteries for after-dark wanderings.
The views are peaceful and rural, and the field is bordered by deciduous woodland – great for exercising any four-legged pals – criss-crossed with footpaths leading to country pubs (there are four within half an hour’s walk). It’s also close to heritage attractions such as Sutton Hoo (10 minutes’ drive).

We arrived on a Sunday, the very last day of Summer hols for most people and there was absolutely no other campers. As it was only myself and my son, we thought it might be disappointing with no life...but it was great. Sheenagh and Wayne, who run the farm were super friendly and gave me loads of info. The cafe opened every morning, and locals came by and it all came to life, plus we had great coffee and a lovely breakfast. One of the locals, I think his name was Nick, was practicing herding sheep with his dog and told us all about it, which was really interesting. Lastly, the showers, in an old horse box, were fantastic, just what you need at the end of the day. All in all, a great stay and highly recommend.

Loved the campsite! It had Basic amenities like compost toilet, hot shower, drinking water tap and the bonus was a lovely cafe.
We stayed for 2 nights but mostly had activities booked around Folkestone harbour which is only 15 min by car.

This site is an absolute gem. It’s so friendly and well managed with every detail well thought out. A well stocked honesty shop with everything you could possibly need. From firelighters, logs &. Kindling for cosy nights; toiletries & hair accessories; to sun creams & ice creams. A large, covered seating area, games, books, Wi-Fi, anything you could possibly need is available. Pitches are a good size. Facilities clean with lovely touches

Knowler farm is a great campsite, well spread out pitches, set in peaceful countryside with walks on your doorstep but close to a shop, a pub and it has a lovely coffee cabin on site.
Dogs and campfire's are allowed and the eco toilets and shower are something to see 😄
Wayne and his family are very welcoming, the whole thing is relaxed, friendly and exactly the kind of unplugged break i am looking for when camping.

Really wonderful place; you’ll be tucked away in nature to quietly enjoy it. Welcoming owner, full of hilarious anecdotes. To boot, there is delicious coffee (rivals artisan London spots) and homemade food to enjoy at the cafe in the morning. There’s a real community feel. We will definitely be back.

Arguably the jewel in Suffolk's coastal crown, this long-standing seaside resort is a truly classic coastal escape and is a place that has reinvented time and again, from its annual arts festival to its current profile as the Londoners' holiday location of choice. But you needn't buy a million-pound second home to enjoy its wonders. There are ample Suffolk campsites nearby and you can bring your tent and camp near to Aldeburgh at a fraction of the price (it's far more fun too!).
