The roost was amazing! Very comfortable, would definitely stay there again. The chickens were very cute and Robyn was a great host. It was fun making the mile walk to the Rustic Vine Winery, very gorgeous views especially for the sunset.

Cute & Cozy

This is such a cute little getaway! I stayed a couple nights and used it as a basecamp for solo hiking in nearby William O'Brien and Interstate State Parks. Many thoughtful touches included, great communication from the hosts (thorough, not intrusive), and it felt safe. I would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous weekend at The Roost!

My girlfriend Beth and I drove up from Minneapolis to spend a truly glorious weekend at this amazing place. Where to begin? Clean, friendly helpful hosts, beautiful converted chicken roost - like something out of Architectural Digest. Very comfortable bedding. We cooked over the open fire in our fire pit right outside the cabin. The chickens were very cute and very well behaved (no crowing at the crack of dawn). Really close to great state parks and plenty of restaurants and stores. We are definitely coming back someday!!

Beautiful, Relaxing Stay!

I (unfortunately) only stayed one night but it was beautiful. There was another family staying at the other site and even though it seemed close, I still felt like i had privacy and was secluded. There were beautiful trees and plants so you felt as if you had your own little area. Robyn was fantastic at replying quickly and I would recommend to anyone!

Glamping at it’s best!!!

Glamping here was everything as it was advertised! My teenage son and I throughly enjoyed are stay! It was incredibly hot out during our stay however it remained very cool in the house! The chickens are adorable! Fresh eggs for breakfast can’t go wrong & everything was picture perfect! We will be back! Thank you for your hospitality! Loved it!

We loved campsite #1. It was spacious, had a combo of sun/shade, nice grass and next to a beautiful flower garden filled with butterflies and small green frogs. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They went the extra mile by letting our grandkids feed/hold a chicken and even gave us fresh eggs! Tx for the memorable experience 😊

The Roost was the perfect spot for a solo, overnight getaway. The site's within a few miles of Wm O'Brien State Park, if you're up for a hike. Between Wm O'Brien and The Roost, there's a lovely winery, Rustic Roots, which serves tasty flatbread pizzas and other light fare to accompany their wines - or beer. Marine on St Croix also has varoius types of takeout. As someone who's interested in sustainable landscaping, I loved that Robyn's yard has things like monarch waystations and other sustainably certified space. The onsite flock graciously provided me with fresh eggs - and weather was conducive to cooking an outdoor breakfast of them. Lovely to sit outside the Roost in the evening, reading and see a doe and speckled fawn duck in and out of nearby woods. My end-destination, Taylor's Falls Canoe/Kayak Rental @ Interstate State Park is also reasonably close - and for those less outdoorsy, Franconia Sculpture Park of walking/dining in Taylor's Falls is the northerly alternative. Cute and Convenient

Great location! Felt like it was in driving distance of everything (state parks, coffee shops, touristy things). Well maintained sites and the out house with the compost toilet was immaculate. I can see how things could get crowded if all sites are booked, but if you’re plans are to be out and about during the day and just coming back at night to sleep this is the best spot! Relatively quiet and private. Saw turkeys, deer, rabbits and even a raccoon eating out of the bird feeder on the back porch.

It was a very lovely acreage where the two tent sites and one 'glamping' cabin exist. The house is visible but its residents/hosts were quite nice. The outhouse was comfortable. It was my 7 yo daughter's first experience camping and she had a blast.

Loved our stay!

Incredible space that’s not too far from town. The property is beautiful, well maintained and very cool. The butterfly sanctuary area is awesome to hang out by and watch the dragonflies and butterflies. The hosts were super nice and provided us with a quick tour of the property features. Make sure to check out their chocolate shop in Marine as their chocolates are delicious!

On one hand, Robyn was very friendly and instructive. The outhouse was very well kept and smelled nice. at least 3 firepits and more locations fo chose from. lots of frogs, crickets etc after sunset singing beautifully by a man-made pond. they thought the grass may be long and wanted to know if we wanted the grass cut around sunset. on the other hand, I arrived at the house and tried to contact her, but I think it took 20 minutes. it was my first time and I was confused. the camping sites are in the big back yard, mostly in view of the house. surrunded by roads on 2 sides and 2 neighbors on the other. often hearing vehicles. I notice an old ripped full bag of garbage about 8 feet from the fire pit. over all it was a good time and the host were kind and helpful

Great little getaway

The Roost is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Twin Cities. The essentials were provided to feel safe and clean during our stay. The floor was cold so we recommend bringing a blanket in the winter months. The Roost was still cozy and all you need for a nice glamping experience.

Found a quiet place in The Roost

I had a lovely, peaceful overnight in the Roost! Robyn met me upon arrival and showed me around. The space is cozy and thoughtfully appointed. I loved scrambling fresh eggs over a morning fire while sipping tea. I’ll definitely return!

Cozy weekend getaway

Spouse and I had a wonderful stay at the Roost for a weekend getaway. Robyn was an excellent host, making sure we were settled, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The Roost is on their property, and while not secluded, we felt we had plenty of privacy. Location was ideal for exploring nearby state parks. Despite chilly weather, we were very comfortable. The Roost has a heater, hot/cold water dispenser (no sink), and a microwave. The bed was super comfy and plenty of lighting for reading, and there were also games and cards available. Major bonus was complimentary eggs from the chickens for breakfast! Very fun to see the chickens each day. Because there's no sink, bringing a small tub and pitcher would help if you'd like to wash hands or do dishes.

Great with the right expectations

Overall, our 2 night stay here was great. The grounds were fantastically cared for and Robyn was a thoughtful host, providing a cart to help in hauling things to the campsite. The bathroom was nice and clean and was stocked with newspaper and some various other things that may be helpful during a stay here. It was a bit less private than we would have liked, especially while completely booked. There are three or four campsites on the grounds of their home, and when all are filled it’s pretty easy to hear and see your “neighbors”. You may have to walk virtually through their campsite to get to the bathroom or back to the parking spots. It was manageable if not ideal. The noise from the nearby highway was also pretty noticeable at times. If you are looking for a nice grounds, easy to access with well maintained campsites and amenities like a bathroom and wood for sale on site this is the place for you. If you are looking for extreme privacy in the middle of nowhere, you might want to look elsewhere for that experience.

Great little stay!

The roost was clean and private, and located close to a state park! Loved the butterfly garden. We had trouble starting a fire- the wood was wet. May want to bring your own! We will be back for sure.

What a fun place to stay! A bright little space .Artful and simple decor. Nice for sleeping -with the ceiling fan and cross breeze & super comfy bed. It was very clean. Chickens are literally next to the place. Fun to watch them.The Host had a little gift basket of eggs in the mini fridge for breakfast. You also get a free bundle of chopped wood. Bring some sticks or paper kindling to help get your fire started! It is a camping /glamping set up. I brought my lantern , citronella candles, bug spray, paper towels, wet wipes. It was quiet and peaceful. The downside is no running water for washing up or sink to brush your teeth. A garden hose or outdoor spigot would be a big help. But there are plenty of nice touches at the Roost: wine glasses, china, coffee mugs, silverware for 2. I will go back here again.

I am so happy that I found this gem

This is just what we needed a small but beautiful setting. The area was landscape for enjoyment and you felt completely at peace. The host made sure you were going to be comfortable and were there if you needed anything. Then hens made beautiful sound and were great neighbors. The Roost was comfortable and had just the right amount of amenities for Glamping.
