The unusual dirt dwellings are a mystery. A local old timer said 75 ys. ago he rode by with his dad and it was a chicken farm. The small fresh water spring no doubt provided water for animals and travelers alike and maybe even serviced the stage coach that came from Meeker.. A visiting miner/ college grad said the rock formations are not found elsewhere.

We were told by a geologist it is a geologically unique area. Small spring comes down the mountain all year. Historic earthen foundations on rear of property , we don't know the builders. Rear of property Backs up to BLM land, but it is very steep and there are large loose rock, climbing not advised here, if you walk a little further to the east the climb is safer. Many animals including a mountain lion are present. The cleaning fee of $10.00 only applies if you bring a pet. Pet hair is hard to remove.
