Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Lovingly designed and built tiny house in the heart of the beautiful Beaver Valley. 2 Double beds, small kitchenette, rustic deck & living area with a gorgeous outhouse. The property has extensive edible landscapes & a greenhouse filled with seedless grapes & edible perennials. Beautiful views of the escarpment, close to the Bruce Trail & Beaver River access point for canoeing and kayaking. Shop at the achingly charming Kimberley General Store. Close to Blue Mountains, Thornbury & Collingwood This cozy, tiny house is packed to the brim with charm. Kids adore the private bed alcoves & everyone appreciates browsing the carefully curated library, which mainly features works of literature along with books on gardening, politics, art & more. The built-in bunk beds are double-bed-sized and surrounded by bookshelves. The floor space is 12' x 9, which is just enough to accommodate an intimate seating area and kitchenette with a live-edge ash countertop and shelves. This is a 'glamping' sort of experience. There's no running water, but we provide large jugs of drinking water, which we'll happily refill as needed. There's an electric two-burner stovetop provided, and everything you need to prepare a meal. There's no fridge, but we supply a cooler and ice-packs upon request. The 'washroom' is an outhouse that uses a bucket system, which may take some getting used to. We empty the bucket regularly and compost the deposits for use around fruit and nut trees. This ensures the outhouse remains clean and odour-free. There's wifi available. There's also no shower available for guests, except during warmer months, when you're welcome to use our solar-heated shower (which is only hot on sunny days). One option is to visit the Scandinave Spa in the Blue Mountains while you're here; they have hot showers to complement their hot & cool baths & sauna in a wonderful outdoor setting. In the winter, the cabin is well-insulated,d and it’s easily heated with an electric space heater, but the outhouse is unheated. Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the cabin. The outhouse is shared with customers of the plant nursery during the growing season (but is rarely used and fully lockable). We also offer the use of our outdoor solar shower during the warmer months, but please note that it's only warm after a day of sunshine! Other things to note We have a couple of young dogs who sometimes bark at people. They're friendly, but they can seem aggressive when they first see you. We're trying to train them to be more welcoming!

Everything was exactly as described and exceeded our expectations. The property was incredibly easy to find, and from the moment we arrived everyone was so warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The cabin itself is amazing, comfortable, charming, and thoughtfully put together. The setting is absolutely spectacular and ended up being everything we had hoped for and more. It was exactly the kind of experience we were looking for. We’re already hoping to come back again. I can only imagine that the last week of May would be especially magical with all of the apple orchard blossoms in bloom. I bet it would be absolutely breathtaking! Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable stay.

Weekend Trip to That Place In The Woods

The cabin was great, clean and spacious. It also smelled amazing!! We had a bit of trouble with the hot water at the shower, but after finicking with the ignition and propane tank we managed to get it working. TIP: you have to make sure you successfully ignited the heater which can take a dozen tries. Turn the water on and wait for 30 seconds until a continuous stream of hot water comes out.

2 nights at That Place In The Woods

It's a nice place to stay & I'd still recommend it, but I had different expectations for a private/secluded cabin. Good: Clean cabin with clean bedding, a wood stove & fire pit, and clean toilet & shower facilities. An "art trail" going through lovely bit of forest. Could be better: There are other cabins all around but they appear not to be in use - I would not have wanted to stay if there were other campers. The host's house is visible and while I knew it was on their "farm" I thought I would have more privacy, given it said 20 acres and secluded. For example, banging and power tools heard from another cabin and the host seemed to be hauling chairs down the trail by my rented cabin, which was rather uncomfortable for me as I was in the outdoor (though covered) shower and felt awkward walking outside and back to my cabin while still trying to brush my hair and dress after my shower. It made it uncomfortable to enjoy the space because it was not as private as I hoped. I'm sure the host is nice but I really didn't want to be encountering other people, just nature. FYIs: You can't drive up to the cabin; though parking isn't too far it is a hassle if you have to haul your gear (cooking stove, cooler, etc). Perhaps host could provide a wagon in future? One other suggestion: a scoop or cup for the wood shavings used in the compost toilet. Feels icky to use my hands in a shared space. Also, a train passes by that blows its whistle LOUD & LONG. A neighbour has a loud dirt bike :(

What a super special and beautiful place. Before my review of the property, I must say that Melissa is such a kind and friendly soul. It was a pleasure meeting her and chatting when we first arrived when she showed us what’s what. Her husband was also super nice, he picked up us from the dock to take us to the island that they live on. Usually me and my partner stay in bunkies where the main property is a little further away from the bunkie, but it was so private even though it’s on the next plot. We’re used to ‘roughing’ it a bit a bit more when we glamp but this weekend, especially since it rained in the evenings, we were so grateful we’d picked somewhere with an outdoor living area. We hung out there for hours both evenings, listening quietly to music and enjoying each other’s company, playing cards and cooking great food. The region had a full fire ban so we couldn't cook over a fire pit like we usually would, but Melissa has thought of EVERYTHING! There is both a BBQ as well as a dual stove/burner, washing up sink, fully stocked cupboard of crockery, pots, pans etc which made it so easy! Appreciated the bug net (although almost 0 bugs), and the outhouse is very clean. We LOVED having Oakley come and visit us in the morning and evenings, she is very sweet and chill doggo. We also appreciated the use of the canoe, which we took over to a small island for lunch. I wish I could write more! Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us Melissa and Adrian :)

Weekend Trip to Peaceful Off-Grid Cabin Retreat

Incredibly comfortable and secluded cabin. Has everything you could need without plumbing. (Toilet that doesn't smell and works great, outdoor shower is to die for, large jugs of water with nozzles like a sink faucet) Makes everything feel like your off grid but still have amenities. Still feels so off grid and was just such a peaceful stay.

Weekend Trip to That Place In The Woods

The cabin was beautiful, it was just enough for a night. The bed is two twins pushed together which wasn’t very comfortable. There was a fire ban in effect when we were there so we didn’t get to have a campfire but it’s no one’s fault and we were happy to have a quiet place to relax for the evening.

1 night at Peaceful Off-Grid Cabin Retreat

Great spot !! Very quiet, private and relaxing. We loved spending time on the porch rocking chairs. Bed is very comfortable, as is the futon. The outdoor shower worked out great. Cari provided us with a perfect amount of water. All questions were answered promptly. We ventured out to local spots including Santa’s village, Port Sydney Falls, Tall Trees restaurant and Bellys ice cream in Huntsville. Nice middle spot between Huntsville and Bracebridge. Highly recommend !!

Weekend Trip to That Place In The Woods

I recently stayed at this secluded Hipcamp site, and it was exactly the off-grid escape I needed. Tucked away far from the noise of the city, the site is surrounded by untouched nature — towering trees, gentle streams, and a symphony of birdsong that greets you in the morning. The campsite itself is thoughtfully set up with plenty of privacy. You truly feel like you have the entire place to yourself. No other campers in sight or sound, just you and nature. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and gave clear directions (which is important).They even provided a few thoughtful extras like firewood and baking goods for cash. Nights were magical — clear skies perfect for stargazing, and absolute silence apart from the crackling campfire. It felt safe, clean, and genuinely peaceful. If you’re looking for a place to unplug, reset, and experience nature without distractions, this spot is it. Highly recommend for couples, or anyone needing a break from digital noise. Just be prepared: it’s rustic, so bring what you need and embrace the simplicity.

1 night at Rugby House Retreat

I actually stayed at “The Glades” cabin that they also have hosted, and we are SO glad we came! From the moment we got there we were greeted by the friendly hosts and shown to the cabin, which was completely stocked with cutlery, cooking utensils, and more. There was plenty room to walk around inside, and the view to the pond was beautiful. The entire property is very beautiful, and if you walk along the paths you will find a cute little cabin village they have created in the forests. It’s very magical. Firewood was provided and after we ran out we had no problem finding lots more wood to keep it running. If your looking for a fun little Camping escape this is definitely somewhere you should stay, either the Poor House, or the Glades you will very much enjoy the scenery. Well worth the visit and would recommend to anyone. Thank you so much for being such lovely hosts
