Andromeda House sits on 30 beautiful acres, stretching from our waterfront to the top of the Mountain. Perched dramatically above the Annapolis Basin, the views here are truly awe-inspiring—and only get more breathtaking as one explores higher up on the property.
Our path network is maintained for access to the very satisfying “Upper Lookout”. This path continues and you might just find your hosts working on this area. There are also various mountain access roads provide terrific hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Photography, rock hounding, mushroom hunting and star gazing are ideal activities. Birders in particular should be pleased.
The property has been in our family for generations and an old sled path winds through and up it. We are also developing a spring-fed swimming pond this summer.
Currently, we have new fields of sunflowers and wildflowers to attract pollinators—bumble bees, hummingbirds and monarch butterflies are especially abundant here. Wild apple trees abound and there is a stand of old maple trees we will be tapping next spring. Beyond that is a mature Beech and Poplar forest.
We are within walking distance to Victoria Beach, an authentic fishing village nestled at the base of the north mountain and surrounded by the Annapolis Basin, the Digby Gut and the Bay of Fundy.

We own 58 acres of forest centered on a very old shale pit near Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia. Our long-term mission is to regenerate the landscape, returning all of the property to a forest in time. We hope to establish small camping compounds for family, friends and guests who would like to stay with us and enjoy the amazing scenery of Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore.
Located just below Huey Lake, our property is watered by a stream that flows from the lake, through a series of tiny waterfalls in a gorge, through beautiful pine, maple, and oak forest down to a meandering wetland that drains into the Petite Riviere watershed.
Beavers are active in the area and have already begun the process of returning the old quarry to the wilderness. Their activities have created deep ponds where once there was a pit dug from the land for the shale that is abundant in this area. The beavers dammed and diverted the stream which has created a pond and wetland system at the lower end of the property. If you are very quiet in the early morning you may get to see Castor as he busily swims about his watery home.
Located near some of the most beautiful features of Lunenburg County, our property is a 5-minute drive from Crescent Beach, Risser's Beach Provincial Park, and Petite Riviere. Opportunities to cycle, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, surf and sail are all around us.

Perfect, Quiet, peaceful Forest cottage. All the little things that made it perfect. Highlights: screened in porch (morning coffees were the best), hospitality was amazing, special breakfast add on was so lovely and delicious! A must have! We had our own very private space but also felt comfortable and welcome to sit, chat and have a drink with the hosts.

This place was amazing. From the moment you drive in the driveway you instantly know that you will be able to disconnect and unwind.
The hosts, Gary and Chantelle, along with their fur baby, Fern, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They were very friendly and kind!
The location itself was wonderfully situated in the forest. The screened in porch allowed for an immersive forest experience from dawn to dusk. The place has everything you need!
BREAKFAST!!!! Oh My Goodness! Chantelle is a gifted cook/baker and you can tell! Our breakfast (delivered to our door) was money well spent! It was amazing!
I will be returning to this place again and again. I can't rave about it enough!

Moss Cottage is a perfect little escape from everyday chaos. They have built a gorgeous cabin that has everything you could need to be comfortable and more. The cabin is an 8 minute walk into the woods from Chantelle’s house so there is a lot of privacy while still being able to drive into town for groceries if needed each day. The property is about a 10 minute drive from Annapolis Royal which is a great destination for a day trip. I can’t wait to visit again!

Our stay was awesome! The place had all the necessary amenities and was peaceful and quiet throughout, with only the sounds of nature surrounding us. The kayaks and canoe were a lot of fun and made the experience even more enjoyable. We especially loved the decks overlooking the lake—the views were beautiful and so relaxing.
We also got to experience the camp during some rain, which added to the charm. Unfortunately, we couldn't have a campfire because there was a fire ban, but that was understandable. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this place to others.

In every sense of the word, the site is fantastic. The hosts' have considered every detail that would make a guest feel welcomed and comfortable, and that is visible with the naked eye on every square inch of the accommodation. The build itself, is a marvel to behold, and the generous gratuities (everything from extra blankets to Q-Tips) are a constant reminder that the hosts truly take pride in, and enjoy accommodating their guests with hospitality that exceeds standards and expectations. Pay attention to their instructions and make sure you are prepared for the short hike to the site in one trip.

We had the best time at Moss Cottage during our last minute getaway from the city. Chantelle and Gary have created a magical little hideaway in the forest with everything you could need to disconnect for a while and tune into nature. We can't wait to get back there one day and would definitely recommend to anyone who is ready to enjoy life off grid for a moment. Our family of four enjoyed the solitude this cabin on a small lake offered for a much needed staycation. We enjoying resting in the hammock and the gentle rhythm the decks rocking chair provided. We brought our own, but there are several fishing rods available and ready to use. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Looks like there’s going to be some upcoming renovations to the cabin so we can’t wait to see what’s coming up next at Grumpy Bear Hollow!

Nice path for easy walk in, beautiful views, tons of space and privacy, comfortable clean lake for swimming, appropriate bathroom facilities and more charm then you can imagine!

Owl's Hollow is the perfect place for a getaway - Karen and Ben have truly thought about everything! In the Hut there was a book about forest bathing, and their property is truly the epitome of it - peaceful, serene and therapeutic. The beautiful views, steps from access to the lake and the added conveniences (chairs, structures, water, etc.) is unbeatable. Karen was quick to respond, kind and very accommodating. Looking forward to coming back!

Weekend Trip to Moss Cottage Forest Glamping
I did not want to leave! Incredibly thoughtful touches everywhere (bug spray - which wasn't needed) solar lights with 1 remote to control them all, speaker, fans, so many things to use in the bathroom- too many to list) just know a lot of thought has gone into wondering how best they can be of service to folks. Easy walk in to the site (5-7 min). Lovely screened in porch to sit and listen to birds. Reading in bed is like being in a tree house with huge windows. And vintage stuff everywhere!!! A delight. Order the breakfast. She's a trained chef. Then go to Lunns Mills (she owns that, too) also swim at mickey hill lake. Clear warm water and hardly anyone there. 10 min walk through forest to the lake. Do it! Do it all!!

1 night at Moss Cottage Forest Glamping
We slept one night at Chantelle's and Gary's cottage/pod. It was amazing 😍😍😍 to hear all kind of different birds and we had a beautiful view on the forest. The pod was designed to provide an immersive forest experience for guests and we appreciate it! It was nice to meet Chantelle and Gary. We felt welcomed and at home. We hope to come back for another trip soon 💜.

2 nights at Moss Cottage Forest Glamping
Perfect spot and location. Moss Cottage is the kind of place where you can walk in, drop your bags and immediately relax and start your stay. Every detail has been well thought out and provided for - from the kitchen with cooktop and every supply you might need, to the charging station, the local guidebooks and information, and rainy/lazy day books and games. The bed and sofa are very comfortable, the shower towels are plush and the decor and vibe are so warm and inviting. The tall glass windows in the shower and cottage place you in the midst of the forest and birds. This is a serene place that I didn't want to leave - but it's 10 minutes to everything Annapolis Royal has to offer and close to tidal beaches and a provincial parks and lake. Gary and Chantelle are fantastic, helpful and responsive hosts. I've already booked my next stay :)
